I have watched several videos and could not get the pins to dislodge the way others did it for my 13 CVO RG. Spent hours searching, watching and trying. I thought I would look for one more video. Watched your video last night. You explained it with a slight variation... and boom... I was pulling pins at 1AM. Give the camera woman a raise. Thanks!
Great video. As a employee of a major connector manufacturer, I appreciate your knowledge and understanding of the insulator and conductor crimps on the male and female terminals, and how important the crimping process is to a great connection, and not to damage the housing or connector and show patients on those stubborn ones! 😎you make it look easy.
Just want to thank you. Had to switch out my apes for new ones and your video got the job done for me. I didn’t have something small enough to release the pins. So I pulled the entire white clip out and then pushed the pins up, twisted to the right and they slid out. But thank you again.
It’s easier if you push the pin using the needle from the other side.. in fact you push the lever down and it releases the pin.. paper clip does the trick.
I really really appreciate this video!!! I wouldn't have figured it out without you. I used a paper clip based on the tool you said you made with a needle. It worked great. I can't thank you enough.
DUDE! Thank you for this series of videos! I have been reading forums and watching other videos, but none have been as in depth or as helpful as these! Also nice how you talk us through each step that you are doing and are crazy thorough! Keep up the good stuff man. 🤘
I clicked subscribe right when you said the old forcep or "roach clip"🤣😎💯 Thank you so much for the info we just put new bars and we've got a gremlin most likely a crossed wire when I reverse the plug harnesses back-and-forth from right to left under the gas tank the starter button switches from the horn to the starter🤦🏼
At least you know what the problem is. That’s half the battle in fixing something. I’ve been having an issue with my cruse control not working after a few times of resetting it until I shut the bike down and re start it. It’s been a bugger to track down what’s wrong.
You dont know how long I messed with that dang connector trying to figure out how to get the wires from it. This helped a lot. I have a dyna but same set up. Thank Youuuuu!!!
I haven’t made a video about replacing cables or brake lines if that’s what you’re asking. At the time of this video, I was changing from 12” to 14” bars and didn’t need a new clutch cable or brake line.
I don’t know what the 2018 models have for wiring to the handle bar controls. I’m not sure which year, but the control switches changed and so did the wiring. In the bikes with control switches like the ones on my 2012 in the video, 18 or 20 gauge will work fine.
You can if you plan on soldering the throttle wires. If you do, be careful not to mix them up. Some of them are the same color. Also, they are smaller wires, I guessing 22 gauge. I chose not to solder the throttle wires and bought a plug and play extension. That saved me the hassle of dealing with the small connector and associated pins. If I remember correctly I bought it at my local dealership. You can also find them on line.
Hello Sky Dude, I’ve watched all 6 videos. I have say, you help me to make the decision to do this myself. If it’s not to much trouble, where did you buy the braided nylon? I need to buy some wire cutters and crimping tool. What brand of tool did you buy on eBay? I too, don’t want to spend a fortune on tools.
Here’s a link to a site I found after I did my handle bars. They sell the crimp tool I use for 25 bucks. They also sell custom cut colored wire lengths and virtually any terminal or pin you could need on a Harley. Very handy site for Harley wiring projects. They also have expandable sleeping. 4rcustomswire.com/products/molex-style-crimp-tool-delphi-amp-tyco-terminals-crimper-open-barrel-22-12-awg

I have stub thumbs. It’s caused by genetics. Some people only have one stub thumb. I worked with a gal years back that had one stubby and one normal. I used to think everyone else had weird thumbs lol.

The camera woman is well taken care of! 😎

You are the only person that has done a video for wire extensions to this day. Thank you!

Great video man. Any possible way you could share that wire diagram for the lead to the pigtail? Tried to screen shot it but not the best quality
absolutely brilliant thank you!

Is there a way I can get your what wires do what on the internal ape hanger wiring ??
What year is your bike?
Hi mate which size wires we can use to extend the stock wires. I m doing 2018 deluxe

@@skydude426 thanks for replying. Can I use same for Throttle wire

It looks like there’s several of the same color wire, how do you know which is which when it comes time to plug them back in?
Wires that are the same color have a different colored stripe. Between the wire colors and the stripes, all wires are uniquely identifiable.
@@skydude426 oh ok, that makes more sense
@@skydude426 ok just take a shit ton of pictures ha
Pictures can be a big help but it’s important to make yourself a diagram showing the wire positions in the connector before removing any.
Thank u
You’re welcome

I did some checking on my lunch break. I couldn’t find anything for the reverse switch housing. Sorry I’m not any help with this one.
Those are some strange thumb nails lol. Great video, very informative.
I have stub thumbs. It’s caused by genetics. Some people only have one stub thumb. I worked with a gal years back that had one stubby and one normal. I used to think everyone else had weird thumbs lol.
Why can't the stock wires be cut in the center and wire added ?
Ringo Gingo they can if that’s the way you want to do it. You’ll have to make twice as many splices.
Looking for a 14” extension kit for my 2009 roadglide any ideas?
