Can I rent your tool?
I was watching you take those pins past the 90°, I was wondering if it would be easier to strip the outer housing or tap off of the wires and just pull the wires up and take one at a time past the 90*. Anyway, I think you’re doing a great job. We don’t have to listen to how your dog barks and how your cats scratches his ear and all that stupid stuff that everybody has to put on there. Thank you. Keep up the great job.
Hey, I like this dude. He walks you through it. He’s not trying to sell you anything. He’s helpful so I subscribed.
Very nice! 🫡
Did the baker tensioner take care of the noise issue. I just put a drag performance manual tensioner in mine and after that it was very noisy. Put a baker compensator in it, but still noisey. Should I try a baker manual tensioner as well?
Primary’s are noisy. I don’t know if changing to a different manual tensioner would do much.
Thanks for posting this, it is really useful. Checking mine right now!!
@4:38 "when it heats up the chain gets tighter?... heat would cause metal to expand not contract?
Yes. The aluminum case expands which has the effect of tightening the chain.
Damn....that sure seems like a lot of slack. What does it sould like when running?
It’s the slack specified by baker and earlier models with manual adjusters. It sounds like any other primary.
Why? Cuz it's a bad design
Excellent series, thanks so much!
You’re welcome, if it helps you out, I accomplished my goal. Good luck!
Hello, Wondering what the stretchy material is called, and what gauge wire you used for the extension? Going to attempt a grip and bar replacement myself and try to save some cash. The nylon stretch material was 1/4 inch? Thanks for the video
4rcustomswire.com/products/nymax-premium-black-braided-expandable-flex-sleeve-wiring-loom-flexiable1 Here’s a link to where it can be purchased. I think I used 3/8”. I like this site as it also sells wire and connectors. I’ve purchased from them many times. As far as wire size, I’m not sure as I bought a wire extension kit. It’s probably 18 gauge if I were to guess.
Get rid of the screaming eagle compensator… Get the Ironhorse Manowar along with the Hayden chain tensioner your troubles will be over
One revolution of the compensator sprocket is about half the chain. Just saying, good video.
Doing the thing for 1.25" O.D. 14" apes, wiring, (so this was a timely watch for me!) and stainless braided control cables and brake lines. Got the bars and cable kit came from LA Choppers via J&P Cycle online store. Just started the install, but looks like a complete install kit so far. Your video is a great refresher course, it's been a number of years since I did one of these, like 15 or so. Watched all 6 parts and gleaned information well worth the time invested in watching your production. Only criticism is the vocals could indeed, be a bit louder. Don't be shy, if we are watching we are interested, so belt that shit out, man. Thanks for a very good video Sir.
You’re welcome and thanks.
I would use whiteout to mark degrees just like adjusting pushrods
Great video. Thank you so much!
Your welcome!
How many miles now? issues?
I had the Hayden tensioner in for one season before building the engine up to a 107” from the stock 103”. It worked great with the stock motor. Once I gained more power with the new build, I started getting some chain slap at different times. After trying a couple options, I ended up dumping the Harley compensator and going with a Dark Horse Man-O-War compensator and a Baker chain adjuster. This set up works very well in my bike. My wife has a 2006 that I built up to a 98” from the stock 88” engine. She has the old stock compensator and a Hayden tensioner that work awesome in that bike.
A true professor!!!
Thank you, I hope I helped you out.
This is a very nice video. Thanks.
You’re welcome
Helped me a lot, thank you very much.
You’re welcome, glad I could help.
Hey bud thanks a lot for this I been here 3 hours trying to get those connections apart
I’m glad it helped!
I have a 2010 Road Glide and I am running a Screaming Eagle compensator with a Hayden chain tensioner. Rodee the bike to Sturgis from Chicago and back with no problems. Running 90 to 100 through South Dakota. Ran fine.
This video is gold brother. I just bought new switches. Didn't soder anything except throttle by wire. Spend the 300 bucks fellas. Way better splicing all those wires. Thank you.
I know this guy posted this 3 years ago, and he prolly doesn’t even have this vehicle anymore. Here’s my humble input, #1, get your self a 30-90mm two jaw bearing puller and pull the the stub shaft out of the transmission, replace the seal and the clips on the stub shaft, and the seal in the trans. You’re not suppose to re-use the circlip anyway, install the stub shaft on the new or old CV axle, install the new or old CV axle back into the trans, and have a nice day knowing you completed the job with little to no drama.
I came across your video, thank you so much for explaining how to de-pin those type of connectors and the sheathing that you used. I’m doing my apes now on my bagger and my install will go easier thanks to you good sir! Thanks again!
I’m glad I could help! Good luck on your install.
I couldn’t get parts for my screaming eagle compensator so I had to buy the whole thing again
can you explain that?
@@michael_fassbender the springs get week and HD won’t sell any parts only the whole kit
So the passenger, is normal if the stub shaft comes out with the half axle?
Yes
Been running a Darkhorse Man O War and a SO Hot Bikes hydraulic tensioner in my 2016 Heritage for over 2,000 miles now with zero issues at all. The bike shift great and finding neutral is while the bike is running is no longer a problem.
good to hear, im going with the Hot bikes tensioner as well.
@@IRONTOSS I think you’ll like it. I going to order one for my 2010 FLHTK as well.
Thank you sir you are awesome nothing came with very good instructions and you are the only one that I have seen do a start to finish. Made some mistakes that I have to fix but thank you very much!
You’re very welcome! I like feedback like this, helping people out is the reason I make videos.
Wood a belt be better
Try some Lucas oil additive it's a great product for any oil stabilizer situation. I use it all around in my 1969 Flatside Shovel Head. Engine oil, tranny oil and I use a 50/50 mix Lucas, automatic transmission oil in my primary and transmission. All is good !
Great video, but every time I put the string in it breaks.
The string breaks?
You say Mark Baker told you the chain tightens up when hot. That can’t be right as metal expands with heat. SO Hot Bike says the exact opposite
The way I understand it is the aluminum engine, transmission and primary casings expand, which has the effect of tightening the chain as the motor output shaft and the transmission input shafts move farther apart due to the expansion of the hot aluminum casings.
@@skydude426 Yes your 100 percent right all the information over the years that I have gotten says the chain gets tighter as the engine comes up to temperature or warmer
Looking over your videos, it seems your bike has really been through it. I think that all of this was manifested by that Hayden M6 - the chain looked too tight from the beginning. I guess we'll never know for sure - but it sure seems you've spent a lot of time in that primary.
I can. See that this would be best up grad. That can be made I don't flank you could ever get any better then that
When. Got. On. It. Top. Roller would. Push. Down. Because bottom would tight. And. Bottom. Would go down. With. Top one. And both would. Go. Say way one go. Down both would go down. And up same this would keep tension same. On top. And bottom. All the. Time. This whzt need. Znf. By that you would need. Comsator
You would need. Little. Linger chain. No. Much. Just. In are two. Longer
If. Had. Alde roller. On. Top chain push down and one on bottom. Push. Up znd float. With spring. One give when other. Tight. Give and take from each other would be. Best wY. To. Have chain it would be to hard. To. Make that.
What happen. To. Adjuster. When fall with you. It. Chain get real lose start nock. Up. Again. Cover.
I here ever one. Going back to Maualuga. Adjuster
I don’t know where Maualuga is but hope I can travel there one day 😎
You take the. Small spring out.
I use. Lukus. Primer. Oil. Make. Quite.
It. Need tension roller on top and bottom. One. Give. The other tight up. It. Gibe. And take.
Tension. Roller would be best. If. Get some Mach. Xhop to format you. One. Tension. Roller. This. Whst would make. Just. Right.
You did. You. Modfid it You take the xmall spring out of it.
You take. Small spring out of it. That your doing

Thank you for the good video. The short shaft on mine actually pulled right out of the transmission. So it made some parts of my job much easier. 2003 Pontiac, Sunfire.
You’re welcome. I’m glad it helped.
