To be fair, it's probably easier to tell when somebody is actually holding back compared to hiding an entire transformation. Nobody knew Frieza was hiding three different forms even though they could all sense ki, but Goku knew Cell was holding back against himself and that Gohan was stronger than all of them even before going SSJ2.

I think Frieza was in capable of using a certain amount of power unless he changed his form because his actual power was limited or handicapped till he uses his true form .. However I think the character flaw of vegeta is that he believes at all times he’s the strongest and what ever depth of power he senses in a person He things that it’s less that his because he isn’t showing his true power or he thinks that he can catch up to them in battle because he’s a saiyan elite warrior prince yadda yadda … his ego is why he makes that over sight… he can’t conceive of a being being so much more monstrously power full… and only at the end of Z and In super do we occasionally see him humbling himself to understand the possibility of this.
Is it really that sad? Basically the ending was exactly the same. Main difference is Gohan dedicated himself to his training which imo is great. Tired of the soy they pumped up in Gohans diet. The entire arc after Cell is introduced has all 4 Saiyans talking about pushing beyond Super Saiyan, and Goku spends most of it talking about how Gohan has some extremely powerful hidden potential. The foreshadowing for SSJ2 was not subtle, idk how you could miss it.
I feel like trunks should’ve also gotten furious. Just at the thought that gohan was everything to him in his timeline, and seeing him die once was enough for him to go wild. Knowing that gohan died again, and he was powerless to do anything about it, again, should have made him transform as well. But instead, he kinda gets ignored. Edit: gohans transformation kinda felt unnecessary to me. He didn’t really have anything to make him go as crazy as he did in the canon, so it just felt off.
Your first point about Trunks is very valid however your second point about Gohan not really having much of a reason to transform in the actual series doesn’t make sense, he had the fear that all his friends were going to die and he had no way to save them unless he unleashes his power then he had Android 16 who told him to let go of his fear and act upon it before he got stepped on by Cell which made Gohan feel that Android 16 was merely just an Android and was willing to protect live by planning on self destructing himself along with cell this then made Gohan feel that he has the responsibility to protect live against cell as an human and all of these factors I mentioned above pushed him to the edge where he just exploded and thus history was made
I still really loved the suggestion given by some other youtuber. Why not have Trunks be the one that got killed? We saw that it ofcourse did affect Vegeta but the idea was basically to have the story go full cirkle. It more or less just went like this. "Trunks was trained by Gohan in the future and turned super Sayian when Gohan was killed" "He goes back in time way before Gohan obviously ever becomes strong enough to train him but seeing his old master he wants to spend as much time with him as possible." "They end up training together in the timechamper since Trunks and Gohan are both half sayian it made sense to have them trains perhaps after both had trained with their fathers before then." (They would need to either give them another day or maybe have Goku realise Gohan needs a bit more experience from other fighters and not wanting Vegeta to be the one to train Gohan for obvious resons) "Have Trunks and Gohan become close in the past as well" "Do the whole scenario with Gohan but instead of 16 being destroyed instead it is an enraged Trunks that can't stand seeing his master get killed while not doing again...again...." "Have him sacrifice himself for Gohan and THAT is what makes Gohan go super sayian 2 making the whole story come full cirkle"

If this is the timeline, this makes Gohans harsh and heavy fighting style in super and tournament of power and his stern serious demeanor make a whole lot more sense.
Yeah, the Gohan we all wanted: A traumatized wreck who has no happiness, no future, no wife and kid(since he only met Videl by going to school), and still is - at best - second fiddle to Goku and Vegeta once they obtain their God forms and beyond.

@@Adem-nl8pd He can regenerate large portions of his torso. Imperfect Cell blasted a large chunk out of the side of Piccolo’s torso. It just incapacitates him and takes a while to regenerate.
Piccolo can't regenerate himself if he is unconscious or has suffered too much damage. The limit does not seem to be the amount of damage he can regenerate, rather it seems to be reliant on how much stamina Piccolo is left with after suffering damage.
i think its only limbs cause i he never heals them in dbz and i think its cause of how they regenerate its like yanking a new arm out which would probably fuck up the wound if they did that to the hole in the chest

Although it was a very interesting theory, Goku ssj2 in cell saga is just imposible, the ssj2 was suposed to be like Gohan mistic powers in buu saga, it was something only Gohan could achieve, i think toriyama original idea was to leave Gohan as the strongest being in the universe and i dont think the original name was ssj2 it was only gohan ssj with his rage surpassed the limits, but the show had to continue and in order to continue he put the name to that new form and made Goku reached wich contradicts the words from Goku who already said that he already reached the limit of his potential in pure power, thats why they left the time chamber before time. This same aplies for Vegeta.

@@dardosalinas4426 it doesn’t have to change because up to this point in the series goku was set-up to be the legendary ssj (since broly wasn’t canon at the time). It’s thanks to Roshi’s teachings and philosophys, as well as goku’s tenacity that he was able to achieve such heights as the legendary ssj status. It isn’t far fetched to believe that he’d be able to achieve ssj2 at this point in time with the right circumstances. The only thing was that toriyama was setting gohan up to be the next mc by teasing his power, but you can still go the same route as in this video and it’d still make perfect sense as a plot twist goku’s plan, while still getting an ending similar to the original.
@@forastero54321 well his teachings also influeced but i dont think too much, yeah Goku managed to get ssj but when he faced frieza at his full power the breach between wasnt very far it was 125 million to 150 million it wasnt very far away, so this shows that goku even with the legendary ssj wasnt able to humillated his oponent like Gohan did to Cell that was 2 times and more stronger than his enemy, so this proves again mi point Goku was a low class warrior and also in order to stand to frieza he had to use the kaioken a technique that wasnt even from his race a technique from a god and also sacrificed his stamina and body, and it wasnt enough, if he had Gohan hidden powers then he would never require those techniques my point with this is if you make Goku ssj2 in Cell saga then you kinda destroy the bases of the charachter and also what makes Goku so especial, he was born weak and in order to stand a posibility to his oponents he needs time and a lot and also inteligence, thats why he managed to do ssj3 in 7 years, incredibly powerfull but not balanced as ssj, he has to sacrifice a lot of stamina and energy and when loses it he is very fragile to the oponent like majin boo, but his son in only a week managed to surpass him not only in power but in stadistics in terms of power he doesnt need to sacrifice energy or stamina, he is 3 times more powerfull than him and even doesnt have time limit thats just crazy how they show Goku is not a prodigy and its one of the reasons that i love Goku, he is weak but his love for the fights made him surpass his limits, and if you change that by making him go to ssj2 in very early time well you are saying that he is prodigy and well in the universe we know he is not, thats why i said if we want to make this what if then Goku should have hidden powers from the beginning in order to get ssj2 very earlier, if we talk about z, in dbs yeah it shouldnt be a problem to goku to achieve that form. Toriyama respect the limits of the power of his mc a lot of times, with kaioken,ssj for the first time, ssj full power, and also the last transformation ssj3 if you see all of this he made Goku sacrificed something of energy and damage his body in order to even inhale the same air against his villain and sometimes the power up he got wanst enough. Goku always need time to get this forms and strategys to get high levels of powers, while Gohan not too much, with one training of a saiyan Goku is managed to get stronger than everyone but he is not able to surpass the limits unlike his son or maybe the hibrid saiyans. So then again if we want to make ssj2 Goku in Cell saga, again in Cell saga, we have to change the bases of the charachter in terms of power and man thats a lot to change.
Honestly, I have always loved Gohan as a character and the fact that he was able to shine during the cell saga makes the cell saga one of my favourite sagas ever but this storyline honestly makes a lot more sense than Gohan going SSJ2 over android 16
Gohan was already angry before 16 died due to his father and friends being beaten to a pulp by the Cell Jrs. 16's final words and death were the last drop for Gohan's transformation.
This was an excellent alternative fight. I loved the Kiaoken being brought into it. Of course Cell would be able to use it too. And it really highlights the unfairness of putting Gohan into that situation at all at his age. Great narration as usual Mondo.
I like how everyone in here don't understand the concept of a character. The half saiyans, despite having more potential, developed a taste for other things outside of fighting, while the pure bloods do nothing but fight. In this case, Gohan wanted to be a scholar as a kid and ended up being one. DBZ is full of inconsistencies but they had the Gohan backstory right.
I think this is the best case scenario, yeah, Gohan died at the hands of Cell, but Goku unlocked SSJ2 earlier resulting possibly on a much more powerful Goku in the Buu saga, also King Kai never dies and Gohan achieves SSJ2 anyway and because he died against Cell he would maintain his training resulting on him being more powerful in the Buu saga and owning Dabura.
@Luis Suazo buu would still be hatched a stronger gohan would give buu more energy to get revived and gohan or any other fighter didnt knew about dabura's technique except supreme kai and kibito so dabura would still escape and get destroyed by gohan in the ship majin vegeta would still happen as vegeta wanted to settle score with goku not gohan so buu would be revived and the rest goes same as it did as buu will be stronger too because goku and vegeta's clash would give more energy to buu because both of them are stronger
@Luis Suazo well gohan was paralysed by supreme kai too even if he breaks the kai's magic yamu would steal a lot more energy from him since he is stronger more power would get absorbed in less time and goku being goku he would still fight majin vegeta like he deid in original starting from warmup to full power

Dunno why but I get this sort of “Tingle” when I see scenes of immense emotion, the kind where someone looses something/one they cherished so dearly they are consumed with rage to the point all other feelings become abysmally unreachable, tears from their eyes with a blank stare glaring at their target showing no expression at all no matter what happens. Mercilessly beating the opponent till they can’t muster the will to stand and even then not stoping. Lost to anger beyond return, the kind of experience that changes their personality forever more, making them cold and semi-unfeeling. A brand new being who doesn’t allow room for such mistakes ever again, Goku looked almost there but I could tell by the way he smiled after Vegeta’s failed attempt he’d return to how he always was after the fight
This is a FAR Better End of the Cell Saga Goku needs to Learn True Regret of his actions to truly grow not as a Mentor and Trainer who only saw his son as a pupil but as a True Father and Man instead There is a Strong difference this is somewhat like the what-if Gohan die to Frieza on Namek instead of Krillin but this is much more profound

That was awesome! This managed to make the Beam Clash even more suspenseful + hype. It also would show how much stronger Goku got when he can stack SSB + Kaioken x20
I like this version more as it seems the story from the original DB progresses becoming darker and maturing hand in hand with the viewer (which now is around 30 years old), leading to a grown ass Goku which is no longer just a child and has now to deal with adult problems like fatherhood and afterwards the trauma of losing a son. That would have been dope.

Part of the appeal of Goku Black for me, up until we found out it was Zamasu, was the idea that Goku could've snapped. This is very well explored here and this narration + sound effects is fucking excellent.
I see only 1 loophole here, only one, and its the fact that they used the 2nd wish to revive everyone that was killed by cell, of it were the first one, wouldn't that bring Gohan back as well? Unlike instead of using it with Goku? Then they would've had that 2nd wish for full use

I feel like trunks should’ve also gotten furious. Just at the thought that gohan was everything to him in his timeline, and seeing him die once was enough for him to go wild. Knowing that gohan died again, and he was powerless to do anything about it, again, should have made him transform as well. But instead, he kinda gets ignored.
Edit: gohans transformation kinda felt unnecessary to me. He didn’t really have anything to make him go as crazy as he did in the canon, so it just felt off.

Your first point about Trunks is very valid however your second point about Gohan not really having much of a reason to transform in the actual series doesn’t make sense, he had the fear that all his friends were going to die and he had no way to save them unless he unleashes his power then he had Android 16 who told him to let go of his fear and act upon it before he got stepped on by Cell which made Gohan feel that Android 16 was merely just an Android and was willing to protect live by planning on self destructing himself along with cell this then made Gohan feel that he has the responsibility to protect live against cell as an human and all of these factors I mentioned above pushed him to the edge where he just exploded and thus history was made

Why not have Trunks be the one that got killed? We saw that it ofcourse did affect Vegeta but the idea was basically to have the story go full cirkle.
It more or less just went like this.
"Trunks was trained by Gohan in the future and turned super Sayian when Gohan was killed"
"He goes back in time way before Gohan obviously ever becomes strong enough to train him but seeing his old master he wants to spend as much time with him as possible."
"They end up training together in the timechamper since Trunks and Gohan are both half sayian it made sense to have them trains perhaps after both had trained with their fathers before then." (They would need to either give them another day or maybe have Goku realise Gohan needs a bit more experience from other fighters and not wanting Vegeta to be the one to train Gohan for obvious resons)
"Have Trunks and Gohan become close in the past as well"
"Do the whole scenario with Gohan but instead of 16 being destroyed instead it is an enraged Trunks that can't stand seeing his master get killed while not doing again...again...."

piccolo can’t regenerate huge holes in his chest. It takes tons of stamina to even regenerate a arm.

Piccolo can't regenerate himself if he is unconscious or has suffered too much damage. The limit does not seem to be the amount of damage he can regenerate, rather it seems to be reliant on how much stamina Piccolo is left with after suffering damage.

Although it was a very interesting theory, Goku ssj2 in cell saga is just imposible, the ssj2 was suposed to be like Gohan mistic powers in buu saga, it was something only Gohan could achieve, i think toriyama original idea was to leave Gohan as the strongest being in the universe and i dont think the original name was ssj2 it was only gohan ssj with his rage surpassed the limits, but the show had to continue and in order to continue he put the name to that new form and made Goku reached wich contradicts the words from Goku who already said that he already reached the limit of his potential in pure power, thats why they left the time chamber before time.
This same aplies for Vegeta.

It’s thanks to Roshi’s teachings and philosophys, as well as goku’s tenacity that he was able to achieve such heights as the legendary ssj status. It isn’t far fetched to believe that he’d be able to achieve ssj2 at this point in time with the right circumstances.
The only thing was that toriyama was setting gohan up to be the next mc by teasing his power, but you can still go the same route as in this video and it’d still make perfect sense as a plot twist goku’s plan, while still getting an ending similar to the original.
@@forastero54321 well his teachings also influeced but i dont think too much, yeah Goku managed to get ssj but when he faced frieza at his full power the breach between wasnt very far it was 125 million to 150 million it wasnt very far away, so this shows that goku even with the legendary ssj wasnt able to humillated his oponent like Gohan did to Cell that was 2 times and more stronger than his enemy, so this proves again mi point Goku was a low class warrior and also in order to stand to frieza he had to use the kaioken a technique that wasnt even from his race a technique from a god and also sacrificed his stamina and body, and it wasnt enough, if he had Gohan hidden powers then he would never require those techniques my point with this is if you make Goku ssj2 in Cell saga then you kinda destroy the bases of the charachter and also what makes Goku so especial, he was born weak and in order to stand a posibility to his oponents he needs time and a lot and also inteligence, thats why he managed to do ssj3 in 7 years, incredibly powerfull but not balanced as ssj, he has to sacrifice a lot of stamina and energy and when loses it he is very fragile to the oponent like majin boo, but his son in only a week managed to surpass him not only in power but in stadistics in terms of power he doesnt need to sacrifice energy or stamina, he is 3 times more powerfull than him and even doesnt have time limit thats just crazy how they show Goku is not a prodigy and its one of the reasons that i love Goku, he is weak but his love for the fights made him surpass his limits, and if you change that by making him go to ssj2 in very early time well you are saying that he is prodigy and well in the universe we know he is not, thats why i said if we want to make this what if then Goku should have hidden powers from the beginning in order to get ssj2 very earlier, if we talk about z, in dbs yeah it shouldnt be a problem to goku to achieve that form.
Toriyama respect the limits of the power of his mc a lot of times, with kaioken,ssj for the first time, ssj full power, and also the last transformation ssj3 if you see all of this he made Goku sacrificed something of energy and damage his body in order to even inhale the same air against his villain and sometimes the power up he got wanst enough.
Goku always need time to get this forms and strategys to get high levels of powers, while Gohan not too much, with one training of a saiyan Goku is managed to get stronger than everyone but he is not able to surpass the limits unlike his son or maybe the hibrid saiyans.
So then again if we want to make ssj2 Goku in Cell saga, again in Cell saga, we have to change the bases of the charachter in terms of power and man thats a lot to change.

Honestly, I have always loved Gohan as a character and the fact that he was able to shine during the cell saga makes the cell saga one of my favourite sagas ever but this storyline honestly makes a lot more sense than Gohan going SSJ2 over android 16
Gohan was already angry before 16 died due to his father and friends being beaten to a pulp by the Cell Jrs. 16's final words and death were the last drop for Gohan's transformation.

This was an excellent alternative fight. I loved the Kiaoken being brought into it. Of course Cell would be able to use it too. And it really highlights the unfairness of putting Gohan into that situation at all at his age. Great narration as usual Mondo.
I like how everyone in here don't understand the concept of a character. The half saiyans, despite having more potential, developed a taste for other things outside of fighting, while the pure bloods do nothing but fight. In this case, Gohan wanted to be a scholar as a kid and ended up being one. DBZ is full of inconsistencies but they had the Gohan backstory right.

I think this is the best case scenario, yeah, Gohan died at the hands of Cell, but Goku unlocked SSJ2 earlier resulting possibly on a much more powerful Goku in the Buu saga, also King Kai never dies and Gohan achieves SSJ2 anyway and because he died against Cell he would maintain his training resulting on him being more powerful in the Buu saga and owning Dabura.

Honestly, I would think trunks would be way more sentimental about gohan dying since this is the second time a gohan dies to androids, thought it would awaken those memories of future gohan
Dunno why but I get this sort of “Tingle” when I see scenes of immense emotion, the kind where someone looses something/one they cherished so dearly they are consumed with rage to the point all other feelings become abysmally unreachable, tears from their eyes with a blank stare glaring at their target showing no expression at all no matter what happens. Mercilessly beating the opponent till they can’t muster the will to stand and even then not stoping. Lost to anger beyond return, the kind of experience that changes their personality forever more, making them cold and semi-unfeeling. A brand new being who doesn’t allow room for such mistakes ever again, Goku looked almost there but I could tell by the way he smiled after Vegeta’s failed attempt he’d return to how he always was after the fight

I like this version more as it seems the story from the original DB progresses becoming darker and maturing hand in hand with the viewer (which now is around 30 years old), leading to a grown ass Goku which is no longer just a child and has now to deal with adult problems like fatherhood and afterwards the trauma of losing a son. That would have been dope.

i would love to see any reprecussions in the future to the Buu Saga like how will Goku will heal from his Remorse and Regret on being a terrible Dad not knowing his son's gentle nature well enough like learning from Gohan's point of view better and could become an ACTUAL HERO and joining Gohan's Superhero stint instead of selfishly staying dead witch is essentially running away from his mistakes and guilt until the tournament

Especially the one when Goku destroys the juniors. It's such an emotional puller. Second your narration is so awesome! Your voice is just sounds so amazing. Part of the appeal of Goku Black for me, up until we found out it was Zamasu, was the idea that Goku could've snapped. This is very well explored here and this narration + sound effects is fucking excellent.

I see only 1 loophole here, only one, and its the fact that they used the 2nd wish to revive everyone that was killed by cell, of it were the first one, wouldn't that bring Gohan back as well? Unlike instead of using it with Goku? Then they would've had that 2nd wish for full use
