- When Gohan initially was called upon to defeat Cell, there was much speculation he would take the reins from his father as the lead protagonist of the series. Though we now know this not to be the case, what if it was neither he OR Goku who would move forward as the primary focus? What if someone else, albeit familiar to us today, were given a much more prominent role than they currently play?

@@TheMeriot1 For sure. Krillin breaking his limits after being sure he cant go further as a human made the scene really hit. Ironic, he was only able to bear Cell once he believed in himself again and that's what made it it a strong scene imo.
@@SionReaver yeah that writing in itself was genius by the writer to think of that but it was also genius of Krillin inside the universe to think of that himself so yeah I have to say this storyline is super good as an alternate reality of the one we know. This is really worthy of being one of the movies instead of New Hope I would have called it Alternate hope but it would have definitely hit hard if it was animated and it went to theaters I'd go and watch it for sure.
Krillin was a BOSS in this timeline. Just like in Budokai when Cel absorbs him, Krilin always was a nightmare for him. Great story indeed. Bout time Krillin got some respect on his name. All up to you now Goten, you are our new hope.
Man I love how Krillin was portrayed in this series, really love fan manga focusing more on side characters not just goku and vegeta
It's more than that. Krillin isn't just a side character. He was a protagonist for a very long time in the series, more so than any of the other human fighters.
It's that a HUMAN was finally the one to protect Earth. Goku, despite being raised on Earth, was still born on Vegeta, and also an alien. Piccolo is also an alien. Gohan was born and raised on Earth, but he's only half human. Just this once, a mere human was Earth's greatest hero, and THAT is powerful. THAT resonates with us as humans ourselves. If Krillin as a normal human can rise to the challenge of facing the perfect being, then maybe, so can the rest of us.
Saiyans, Namekians, destroyers, gods, angels, androids, frost demons, etc. At the end of the day, it's humanity who defends Earth.
Krillin even uses a technique developed by humans to finish him off. Yes, the Kamehameha was developed by Roshi originally, but Goku is pretty much the mascot of it. It's so fitting to me that Krillin defeats cell using a technique developed by a god in combination with an attack developed by humans. It symbolizes how he wasn't trying to live up to Goku, an alien. He was being his own hero, a human. And look at how much farther he was able to take the Kaioken compared to Goku. Goku would have never been able to do this, in part because he got Super Saiyan, something he only had access to due to being an alien. Krillin being a human and having no access to SSJ forced him to master the power of a god to a level far beyond what anyone thought possible.
A human defended humanity. Goten is still around after Krillin's passing, but he's going to need to teach humanity to rise up and defend themselves if he hopes to continue protecting Earth. He can't do it by himself, and he's not immortal either. The long term plan will have to be for him to make humanity stronger, and not simply defend them from everything by himself.

Piccolo would be considered an earthling but not a human in this case.
The Dragon Ball series would be the greatest anime masterpiece of all time if Toriyama gave every side character their slice of cake. They all deserve it. Goku is the protagonist sure, so it makes sense he is the center of it all, that doesn't mean the side characters especially the humans should of been thrown in the garbage.
This is the best Dragon Ball manga I've read in a while. Usually, when I hear about fan works I roll my eyes, because they're either exaggerated, or just amateurish. This is one has nice pacing, interesting character arcs, good lore, and lovely surprises.
I need to see more of this.
That being said, I love how narrated it is. It's almost like an interactive comic.

Do with this plot hole want to know why babidi and dabura would have shown up as they would have out there during the time skip and yes I would have killed dabura but babidi is no fool she could have looked into cells mind and so he wanted to challenge so he could have told him help him for you boo and he could have fight Buu but the fact that they can do that in just annoyed boo does not make sense

Krillin has never looked or been so legendary in all of Dragon Ball before until this fan manga...I broke a tear for how he was portrayed in this story (high respect to the guy who made this story he knows how to make something interesting while hitting all the right emotions)..he is now officially one of my favourite characters and it was awesome to see him get the win over someone like Cell. 😎

@@mixup9014 I agree! 💯...I would like to see Tien and Yamcha get close to standard perfect Cell's power...piccolo not far off to ssj3 Goku..in another Fan manga called Dragon Ball After (unfinished) piccolo used a technique that allowed him to exchange blows with a full powered ssj2 Goku/Kakarot.
@@mixup9014 "I wish they were all more on par" definitely even if it's a special technique that makes it seem like their on par but gives them the edge like kaioken basically being able to hold their own...Super would be good if it were more like multiverse and minus the God forms which feel so gimmicky repetitive..I want to see traditional ssj forms still have relevance with further mastery and the next levels are 4 and the unseen 5 which is basically like 4 but silver with ssj3 hair length.
@@mixup9014 I must admit it didn't quite feel how I thought it was going to feel..was prepared to give it a chance but it grew stale after a while..I kinder threw in the towel with it just after the tournament of power...Jiren wasn't a bad character..animation is no where near as crisp as it was in Z..was cool to see some different characters for sure..like the female saiyans..but they were handled so cheaply even how quickly they achieved ssj upwards and interactions between Caulifla and Kale feel a bit too over the top..but probably that's more to do with the English dub dialogue lol..I'm glad really that DB Multiverse is handled a bit more like Naruto in regards to giving most characters their own spotlight for the plot.

They never really get into why Chichi has her change of heart, but my head-cannon says it’s because she grew to blame herself for the death of her husband and son. Always nagging them to work and study and preventing them from training…I think she harbors some guilt over their deaths.
Well, she did train Goten in regular cannon too.
She said that Goten never really like studying and also she was worried that cell would return which why she trained Goten.

I feel like it was a missed opportunity to show her own growth as a person, that she turned a corner and understood that her husband and their children were special and, if you forgive the cliche, that with great power comes great responsibility.
I felt like it was a prime opportunity to give one of the most flat characters in DB some cutting and interesting depth.

This... just... it's perfect! Krillen wasn't overlooked. He was a badass! He was my favorite character here and was so wise. Krillen was smart, calculating, and found ways to grow stronger! Goten was great and grew the entire time. This story felt so natural to the storyline. Nothing felt forced. The art was perfect, but Krillen's artwork was over the top amazing. Without a nose and yet you could read his darker emotions.
This is the best fanfiction I've ever seen personally.
The got the humor right.
They got the characters right.
They got the action right.
I've not seen fan made material of this quality since Team Four Star.

About characters yes but goten.. God he's so arrogant and irritating and ungrateful, hes not like that in dbz is he, he's an innocent dumb kid. Not arrogant but not humble either. Just innocence, but this gotten really gets in my skin on how he speaks and treats krillin..

I found this video by accident when I was trying to find the clip of Krillin getting his neck broken by perfect cell… what was intended to be a 3 minute video watching turned into a full on journey. I didn’t know I needed this so bad. I’ve watched and rewatched Dragon Ball Z so many times… to get to experience a different take is so special to me. I actually geared up with Krillins death. Thank you for this. Thank you a million times over!

this was a blast, mans used all the logic and techniques throughout dragon ball to make krillin optimal. this story is a lot more complex then the og. this was def for the fans !

whoever made this is a god. giving krillin a legit arc where hes not just a punching bag and is an actual fighter is the best.
The best part? Don't see the usual people going 'humans can't get that strong' that just proves all you need is good writing and a arc to set things up and people would be ok with it. Krillin definitely earned it and we were with his struggles and doubt in the beginning.

Man this Manga was incredible the best one I've ever seen!!!!! I was on the edge of my seat every second!!! It's very symbolic and iconic how at first krillen thought he reached his limits due to being human but in the end reached levels that many can only dream of and was able to beat cell in the process.
2:05:45 is in my eyes the best part it was referenced from ui showing how far krillin has come and the journey he endured to reach this level
I would totally be down for this Krillin getting that form. Just hope that inner fire got sparked since he and Roshi were convinced they could go no further. Yet here he probably surprised himself by breaking his limits.

This artist has my respect for simultaneously giving much needed attention to 2 of the several neglected characters in creative ways while also making an already existing villain even more menacing than the original. I was cheering on Krillin and Goten just as hard or maybe even harder than I did Gohan way back when.

Real justice to Krillin and great to see the power and potential of humanity exemplified in the story vs. sole reliance on the Saiyans. Keep at it with this incredible content!

This is, without exception, the best fan manga I have encountered to date. But even more importantly, the best narration I believe I have ever had the privilege to witness. The story is masterfully written, the art is unimpeachable. But the narration... bro! Especially with Krillin's last moments, the way you made the story so suddenly REAL... dude you definitely had me feeling some kinda feels. 😭💖👍

I love krillin based stories. Since I was a kid I've always had a soft spot and admiration for krillin and felt it cruel how slowly he faded further and further into the background.
To see Krillin and the kaioken shining makes me Can't wait to see how this progresses. Goten guilt's, Future Bulma travel to namek and krillin's new adventures in the afterlife have me hooked.

Though part of me really wishes the story ended with Goten getting the win or him and Krillin working together to defeat cell, this was such a ride and a huge breath of fresh air from what is going on in the main series or even most other fan stories! You did Goten a fair amount of justice for Goten and Krillin on the hero’s side of things. I hope to see more from whoever made this. You should check out generation defender’s goten black series! It’s basically a negative parallel to this story which is why I crossed over the two stories together in my fanfic!

This is the first one of these I watched all the way through from beginning to end. Krillan got a power up that made sense & Goten did his thing as well. Love it!
It's a damned shame. All of this pain, regret, perseverance and life grinding effort. Breaking his ceiling, shattering limits through time, heartbreak, and hope, to reach a level unimaginable for the Saiyan's at the time, much less a human in the series, no matter how many eyes, noses or siabaman craters they have. Making the ultimate sacrifice and leaving everything behind to join his old friends, honor intact, and leaving in his place hope for the future. It's masterful storytelling, and truly inspired writing. But krillin in super runs from bullets and is strong enough to fight ssj blue clown-ku because EVerYbodY iS sOoPeR SOuP in SUpEr.
Indeed it is. Roshi and Krillin were convinced there was some hard limit being human, but ironically he was only able to beat Cell once he believed in his own power again which on top of people in and out of verse never thinking humans can do anything made that scene so powerful imo.

This was great DBZ , amazing arc . Love the respect and love for krilling , it goes to show how great of a character he really is when on the spotlight. I can only imagine if this was cannon and u get to see krillin complete development from the saiyan invasion to the end of Cell. Many of these "alternative universe stories" tend to focus on power levels and new transformations. This one was a love letter.

I luv this! Gotens character has gone through a complete change like he never existed in the original Z Timeline. This Alternate Timeline Goten is so much more competent and has that urge to always fight and train like his father did before him. Sure he grew up in peace for a few years but Cell could return anytime so they have to harden him up like Goku was when he was little.
I love how Krillin finished Cell with the Shin Kikoho. That brings nostalgia for that moment that Tien holds Semi-perfect Cell. That honored the Tien's legacy.
They need to make a series out of this for real this is the best one so far

A reimagined Buu saga with Gotten would be great.
And you could probably revive a couple of Z fighters without taking away from the story now.
It would have been cheap in this story, but Goten has proved himself now.

I love how krillin learns techniques from chiatzu, chiatzu and tien where always some of the best ki users from dragonball people have forgot about that💯⚡️‼️ even z tien ki attacks are op so imagine someone way stronger using them great stroy telling
tien wasn't just one of the best ki user. he was one of there strongest and talented fighters. the sayian's were just focused on way to much. and super just shits all over him.
I love krillin in This story because they can no longer call him weak
@Asmodaus gotens ssj2 wasn't mastered Goku and vegeta's is I'm pretty sure in buu sega I think krillin will put up a good fight but he'll probably lose unless he uses what he used against cell which he won't
@@Aqtalni Yeah, the main issue is stamina but maybe Krillin can learn to improve the technique to make it more a pseudo transformation rather then a short burst. In the Otherworld if I recall can keep more stamina draining forms up for longer, hence SSJ3 actually being more practical there. I also hope Krillin continues to improve on himself, earlier chapter he and Roshi were convinced there was a hard limit and kinda seem they were admitting defeat.
Long as he doesn't pull a Gohan, I'm happy
Wow, i have watched and read tons of alternate timeline stories, this is easily the best i have come across. Its amazing how much more you feel for the characters when theres actual stakes. NO just fixing everything with the dragonballs.

Next arc is going to be about Trunks timeline... Since Future Trunks died in this series, he never got to clean up the mess with the Androids nor his time's Cell.
This brings a smile to my face, Goten was always my favorite character.

This is a Dope arc/saga.

You feel a tremendous amount of sadness for the Z fighters left over on Earth, but shout out my main Earthling, Kuririn.
In one story you give krillen his shine, and Goten the coolest character ever.

When Cell was doing his monologue, I was thinking "Oh come on, Goten, go punch him in his perfect jawline already!"
This kinda content ALWAYS makes me sad that humans don't get any respect in DB. I WISH they'd give them a win like this someday. I wanna see a threat appear that doesn't have Piccolo or any of the Saiyans around to fix. Humans don't deserve to just be weaker than basically every other species in the universe, they deserve to finally find a way to ascend beyond their limits.
@Twelve Kiwis I hear you, and it is impressive. It still would be nice to see a human break their limits like Krillin did in this manga. Not that its ever going to happen, and Uub doesn't count, he got Majin and whatever else boost.
@@SionReaver I think if we keep asking for it, Toriyama, Toyotaro or some other story leads may give them a chance to shine like Piccolo and Gohan did in the latest movie. Krillin and Tien seriously deserve more, Yamcha felt like he moved on as a person, and Chiaotzu... idk what to say about Chiaotzu dude. Also, I'm glad we got Teen Goten and Trunks, but they were kinda played out like a joke in Superhero, they (despite being saiyans) still deserve more too.
@@majoraikana5893 Yeah, its possible. I mean we kinda saw a bit of in filler with No Ego Zone with Krillin..even if they did literally nothing with the power up. That said, I know some people were saying they would never accept human Z-fighters becoming strong, but I think as long as its built up and well done, no one is gonna care. Like here, you hardly hear anyone complaining aside from the few debbie downers that don't like humans getting strong at all. But they aren't good faith actors to begin with.
For that reason I love how the Xenoverse games gave humans their own powers to compete with the other races while being able to become as strong as them.
@@Hektols Agreed. I do wish we got more lore if these humans are from the main time line or somewhere else. Either alts that are stronger, or mainline but decided to fuck it and just humans who refused to accept their limits and broke them like countless other works. DBZ is oddly where they can't, or they can and its like TFS Vegeta said they're just lazy.

I like this for the fact it shows a good idea of how a fight may have gone between a SSJ2 and a super perfect cell.

My favorite thing about goten is that you can clearly see that despite never meeting goku and the others he has their traits, I liked how he was clearly cockier than gohan was vs cell but he wasn’t as cocky as vegeta was
