I was hopeful after I looked real close at his health stats when Lime pulled them up, and I'm glad Bart managed to ward off the Knox infection
I commented spike traps on the PZ forums as a suggestion to the devs years ago, and got titled by them as "Worryingly Sadistic." Now I see someone finally realizing it.

Its a certified good strat, even if the zombies dont die from spikes, it would disable them from moving!

So that incident at 13:03 is because of a bug. Sometimes you are forced to shove by one zombie while you are still targeting another. It’s a really awful bug because it’s a forced push that’s triggered by the aim cone for a micro second but it doesn’t land on the zombie that triggered it. It doesn’t happen a whole lot but I have seen it end lots of runs before on Djackz twitch stream. I don’t know if the developers know about this bug but it’s been a around for over a year. Also I have only seen it happen with sprinters and short blunt is probably your best bet to avoid it so good call on switching it up from the spear, but I have still seen it happen with short blunt too so it’s best to avoid forced pushing with sprinters in general when they are stacked up like that.
it happens at 13:10, too, to an even more extreme degree. the zombie went from being fully knocked down to immediately up and only briefly stunned, while the zombie he was trying to target got the world's easiest bite on his shoulder armor.
I love this game, but the people who claim it's not janky or that any unfair deaths are just a "skill issue" are deluding themselves lol
Never seen such an unthinkable amount of luck. I thought those two sprinters would have dragged you to the ground. But you survived even infection!
This is something that can happen only once in a lifetime.
Bart seems truly blessed by the gods. That's not the first "Well, he is dead. . . or maybe not!" moment in the series.

This is why I play with multi-hit on. What happened is that the shove targeted the zombie that was FURTHER away from you, probably because it was at less of an angle... That or the game somehow calculated the zombie biting into you is somehow further than the one you staggered

In Lime's 'Hivemind Challenge' part 4, literally the *_exact_* same thing happened haha. tbh I'm shocked he still uses spears vs sprinters. In the Hivemind video, after he did even MORE grinding than this video, he then instantly died to the first 2 sprinters, bc the spear's instakill bugged out & missed like 13:02.
I don't want Bartholomew dead but it will be so funny if he had died at the first attempt of lure the zombies to the trap after months of training
the most PZ thing about it is that was a bug that almost got him killed rather than an actual mistake lol

What got you in that situation was a known stupid bug of zomboid that randomly makes the player try to push the zombie behind the closest one, wouldn't mind if you debug if you got infected. I don't play sprinters just because of that bug. There is a mod that activates multi hit only for push called "Push Only Multi Hit" that supposedly fixes this.
I feel like it is more frequent with spears in general. Though that is probably biased from me mostly using spears.
@@ob64 spears tend to break the game rule where you're not supposed to get animation locked by your weapons when there is more than one zombie around you, which has killed me more than once.
@@ob64 spears have that animation lock death trap but this is different even with no weapons this happens
@@ob64 Spears are definitely the glitchiest melee weapon in the game. Ironically the only thing keeping them from being completely OP is how buggy they are.
@@jravee5994 Yeah it's especially bad with sprinters because I don't think the game even accounts for the increased speed of sprinters when it decides when it is "safe" to trigger the animation lock.

I was wondering about that. I've never seen 5% and 33% anywhere, and all the sources I checked said as you say. Was wondering if I'd missed something at some point.
When I started gaming I was playing Fallout (OG) and GTA (OG) and I remember I was so excited, reading about GTA 2 coming because it had functional firetrucks. (If I remember correctly, you could use the firetruck hose as a weapon in GTA II). Oh, how the times have changed.
You do remember correctly. You could spray the waterjet at cars and peds, and one mission in hub 2 even converts it to a flamethrower that you need to go on a spree on the Rednecks' territory with.

13:02 Idk if it was a bug caused by spears, but I just don't trust spears w/ sprinters.
You lost a character in the Sprinter Hivemind challenge to the spear stab animation bug, and this was almost identical -- a month of hardcore grinding, to then immediately dying to a bug.
Damn I was so worried and for a moment thought he was bit.

If youre uaing spears, push a door with one in hand. Wont break thr spear or thr door but will level up maintenance slowly. 0.24 xp per push but getting to level 3 or 4 takes only a few days. Also you can set combat stance to toggle abd walk back and forth along a fence to level up nimble.

Why not put some spear traps around bends in the road so as you drive away from hordes, just dawdle a bit on turns leading zoms for a long run to pits
Random thought on cars versus pit traps. Like what happens to a vehicle when one tries driving over them?
God damn what an episode, I told myself don't look at the comments because I've been invested in this series. Bart needed that wake up call, to slow downn and remember how far he has come. I love it though, this is one of the best series of all time as a long time viewer, I hope you're doing well man.

you could get a water dispenser from the school but it does weigh alot but it give you alot of water prob a month of water

Jeez. Thought I was watching myself play.... Sneak around for weeks building up a character and a base. Die the very first time I go out to "clear out the Zombies". Trash was so lucky not to be infected.

Spears tend to swing / push through zombies when you've got more then one possible target.
Opening your window inside a car allows you to pan the camera a lot farther.
And that's why you don't go zombie-hunting in the buff, let them eat cloth, not flesh... :P

you should work on Bart's carpentry skill to make a compost bin to put the rotten carrots and tomatoes in

After seeing the rotted carrots off to the side I am reminded that I have never, not once, see anyone use a composter.
composter takes several weeks to produce anything usable (it's based on how long any *individual* rotten item has been sitting inside it) so you're better off grinding Cooking so you can use small portions of rotten ingredients in recipes.
you can make a worm farm if you throw just one in there alongside rotten food, if you're able to fish nearby.
The only repeats I have noticed 6:30, 12:35, im new ish to your channel why are there repeats? I want the lore gimme the lore 😅
I stutter and repeat phrases a lot. And because my commentary is all live i sometimes miss a repeat here and there
Editing is hard he says something in a way he doesn't like repeats and sometimes forgets to cut i guess

Does weather not affect the zombies at all? From what I can see, rain, fog, or snow don't seem to make any difference in their ability to see or hear; cold weather doesn't make them slow and stiff, reducing their speed and mobility; hot weather doesn't make them decay faster; and they don't slip or stumble on ice or snow that I can see.
Thought for sure that was a bite 😅 Wouldn’t have blamed you for using cheats in that case

Good thing it was just a scratch and laceration though! The last time it happened to me she only got a single hit in on my fully armored character but rng decided to f*** me! Neck Bite! The one place that wasn’t as protected as the rest...
God, I feel you. Even with infection disabled, neck bites are no joke.

Bites from the back are way more effective than bites from the front, he was also wearing nearly mint condition clothing that covered most of his body. Also I am not entirely sure but I think the spear (and other two handed weapons) add a chance to deflect damage. All of that on top of him being able to restore them to a stunlock through shoving and swinging the low attack speed spear. Another way you could try to reset them would have been to try to sprint into them, though with all of the chances to trip from overweight and only average fitness it probably would not have been the safest bet.
At the end of the day though, we are all at the mercy of RNG.

This is why i play with infection off, the combat is too janky for me to be comfortable with that.
i can get dragged down or be destroyed by a group anyways, so i dont see the need to add another way of dying.
Lime, just saying, if you had actually died there, I 100% would've been on board with you using debug or a mod to remove the infection. That was a blatant bug - not only did the push somehow target the wrong zombie despite the fact that there was a zombie right in front of you, but the zombie at 13:10 straight up teleported back to its feet after falling down rather than crawling back up again like it's supposed to.
This game is janky as hell and unfortunately jank and permadeath don't always mix well.
