My dad had a 1973 Dodge Coronet Crestwood wagon 400 2 barrel carb. It had the rally gauge cluster 150 mph speedometer. He got it up to 138 at which point it started to to float so Dad backed it off. We were on I-40 between Flagstaff and Albuquerque. Absolutely no traffic that day.
NO KIDDING...I WANNA KNOW TOO..we had one when I was 15yrs old in 1968...in 1969...I only lost 4 street races in it...that Buick was damn near unstoppable...it had a 455ci..with a turbo 400..373gearing...❤
I bought a 66 Fairlane square from a woman at work it was the family car and her husband blowen the clutch out she was moving and had to get rid of it she said i could have it for 100.00 dollars and she had the new clutch and pressur plate that went with it I bought it and towed it home and I looked at the engine tag and didn't think it could be truck it was a 427 factory with a 4 speed i. Got it fixed and it was a real sleeper Wimbledon white with the wood grain sides I put ten inch slots with bfgs and 6 x 4 fronts and a set of side pipes it was fast and it was fun lost it in a divorce
In 1974 a friend of the Chrysler/Plymouth dealer I worked for wanted a 4 speed Road Runner station wagon in his Drilling Mud Companies colors of Red over White. A Satellite Sebring wagon with 440 and 4 speed trans was special ordered. It took 12 weeks to get and was inadvertently rolled on its side when a lift was accidentally switched on under it.
We grew up in WV and my dad had ordered a 78 Ford Fairmont station wagon with a 302 V8... And it being a mid size it wouldn't take long to get you to the top of the mountain even loaded down... Some people would ask my dad why did you get all that motor... Dad would tell them to let's load them up and I'll be at the top waiting for you...and talking about a sleeper car
For a number one pick there sure was a lot of different models of Oldsmobiles shown. Literally all wagons from the sixties all the way to the eighties from mid to full size.
My family had both Olds wagon. The pictures showed for Custom Cruiser were few and you included the Vista Cruiser as the Custom. Get it right. The Vista Cruiser was just like the Cutlass wagon you showed. I always thought it was the Vista Cruiser.
Gee, you forgot the 1990s Buick Roadmaster wagon with the iron head LT1 350. It was probably as quick as any of them. This video is not factual. Every full and mid sized wagon from the 1960s through the end of their runs had V-8s. Horse power and torque were needed to haul car loads of kids, trailers, boats, and every other thing a modern crew cab pickup or SUV will do now. The only thing was that wagons were not status symbols like trucks are today. In fact, they went away because of SUVs and mini vans. I doubt many, if any were purchased as sleepers for street racing. The aforementioned 90s Buick Roadmaster, while getting some mention by car enthusiast cause it had the 260 horse 350, still looked like a “fudd” car, too expensive for a young family needing something to haul kids, and less practical than a mini van.
Not long gone. Because of a strike at Ford, engineers were forced to work the line, and as such, many early 1968 models ordered with 302 engines were delivered with leftover 289 mills. Not too many people cried about it anyway, as per my understanding there was a small rebate involved, although I'm sure some people refused delivery or pushed for a better deal. Personally, I would much prefer a 302 2bl. Fairlane or Falcon over a 289 2bl., for whatever that's worth. On the other hand, if it is the last 289 ever manufactured? Who knows? It might be sloppy, or just engineers bearing down and assembling with selected fits, after all, it's not like they were on the clock.
Thanks for posting. I've never seen a real 300 c srt8 wagon that I know of ( many people molest the sexy magnum wagons with 300 front ends which I personally don't like ) but they didn't produce a Hella lot of srt8 magnum wagons even though know it all know nothings who think they know everything have said they made 100k srt8 magnum wagons on other videos. Every one of these wagons on here are awesome and rare now a days even in stock base trim. I think all wagons are cool no matter the year, make or vintage from Cavaliers,to tri five wagons to 60s impala wagons to escort wagons . It won't be rare but I want to LS swap a now hard to find 1st Gen square body (82-87) Cavalier wagon and make a sleeper
The American Ford Falcon never had a factory installed the HiPo 289 c.i, 271 h.p. engine available to the public.. Reputedly there were a few Canadian Falcons that received the 271 h.p. engine.
Nothing rare about any of these cars, you could find one in just about any driveway back in the day. That Mustang dont count because it wasnt produced. You must be a 9 year old to think they put K code 289`s in station wagons.

No mention of the Buick Sport Wagon.
That was a nice-looking car. My neighbor had one in White.
I had one!!
Right! AI has zero idea what should and shouldn't be on the list

@Paul-k9x No 455 tell 1970. It would have had a 350 or a 400.

@79tazman In the United States, you are right. In Europe and Australia, that 300C SRT-8 wagon did exist.

For a number one pick there sure was a lot of different models of Oldsmobiles shown. Literally all wagons from the sixties all the way to the eighties from mid to full size.
A 1970 to 1972 Monte Carlo wagon would have been interesting as the thumbnail hinted.
3:11
Why so many pictures of '65 or perhaps '64 Falcons (I grew up with and eventually owned a '66) when you're talking about a 1969 model?
My family had both Olds wagon. The pictures showed for Custom Cruiser were few and you included the Vista Cruiser as the Custom. Get it right. The Vista Cruiser was just like the Cutlass wagon you showed. I always thought it was the Vista Cruiser.
68 Chrysler New Yorker 440CID 4:11 (Trailer Towing Package)
The 66' Polara wagon looks pretty light on rollover protection.
Look at the "B" and "C" pillars.
Not that I wouldn't buy one, lol.
I had a 1972 torino wagon it was super fast

Yeah
No 289 in 1969 , and not 271 horsepower !!! For the falcon !!!
And, in the video, when it starts up, we hear a straight 6. Not a 289. 😕
Yeah
I font recall a Montecarlo wagon

Like the Polara, we had a Monaco !
Falcon wagon is a 1965 not 1969. My dad had a 1964 Sprint conv. w/260 & 4 sp.
The Falcon wagon wasn't available with the 271 horsepower 289 High Performance "K Code" engine.
Yeah
if you have some money, you can custom build a Sierra XR8 ( Mustang 5L V8 engine) with a Sierra wagon body, getting a modern style body over V8 power!
Wow that mustang wagon is beautiful
Yeah
1971 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser - the 1st car shown under this was not a 71, and neither were a few of the others. Do better research!
California built wagon mustang

Ever see a Pontiac Aztec? The thumbnail was AI generated.
