      Hello and thank you for your answer.
      I am very curious to know if this little RP gave you any satisfaction?
      This interests me all the more as I plan to buy this small Canon RP to replace my 6D Mark II which with my EF lenses becomes too heavy for me! So you will surely tell me that these two boxes are quite similar: Same Sensor. But the RP has a slightly more recent "Digic 8" processor instead of the Digic 7 for 6D MII. The Photos results (I don't do Video at all) should be quite similar. If I therefore decide to take the plunge for the RP, it is for a Weight Gain (around 300 grs) and compactness. Especially since on the RP I could mount, among others, the RF 50 f 1.8 (160 grs) and the RF 16 mm f2.8 (165 grs) which should arrive soon ...
      Your experience is therefore essential for my choice. I also thought about the M6 MII, but here I am afraid of losing image quality ?!

    The RP is a very nice camera, i love it especially with the RF 50 1.8, super tiny and capable!
    I enjoy it since about a year. Just got recently into wildlife and videography and well, i guess we all know the RP is at best usable in 1080p 24/60 or in manual focus 4k 24fps. And the missing modern AF features and slow speed renders the RP a nightmare in wildlife.
    After about a month in wildlife with the RP i just got a R6 - Its really nice but didnt impress me at all, especially since with the R6 i would need an additional camera for astrophotography (high pixel density needed). Also, its just too heavy and big as casual/daily camera, thats where the RP just fits PERFECT.
    Sold the R6 (luckily without losing money since i got it already 2nd hand) and got a fair priced new R7.
    The R7 impresses me much more than the R6. Pre Burst saved me already a few shots i would have missed otherwise, the 15 fps mechanical or 30 fps electronic are AWESOME (remember: i am used to 3-5 fps!) and somehow in the fitting light conditions i can trust the R7s autofocus much more than the R6 for some reason.
    RP (as daily/street/low light camera) and R7 (Wildlife, sports, video) seems like a nice combination and affordable, and for probably many people a better decision than the R6.
    RP can also do milkyway shots on a fast prime lens on tripod while the R7 is running automated as my imaging camera on the telescope, controlled via computer.
    I really tried 3 days hard to like the R6, but it just gave me better results (out of camera!) than the RP in very poor light conditions where i needed anyways on the RP and R6 DenoiseAI for example (which gave also a pretty similar result in direct comparison!). So in the end... the RP is already a "low light monster" for me needs and taste - The modern sensor and good internals of the R6 just dont overcome the "poor" 20MP which barely allow crop which i need a lot in wildlife and astrophotography (on a telescope).

    Beware if you are coming from other Companies that Canon RP (and all others) will show you tue DOF of the maximum aperture of the lens. Let’s say you have the sigma 1.4 lens and you wanna shoot at 2.8. Your are gonna preview your image at 1.4 DOF. In order to see your actual depth of field you need to use a custom button wich makes things awkward if you are coming from a sony A7II like I did. I feel like most of reviewers forget to mention these. Besides that the RP is very solid, great autofocus for the price and more the entry level full frame

    Hey Mitch, what third party lens would you recommend that's great for video making, Tamron or Sigma? If so, which would have a fast autofocus for Canon EOS R?

    • @MitchLally
      @MitchLally  3 роки тому

      such a hard question to answer, depends what you shoot, your style, what you like etc. Maybe a Tamron or Sigma 35mm 1.4 - both focus well but depends on your budget the tamron is a little better..

      @@MitchLally I looked at the 45mm Tamron lens and it looks fantastic for it, but I have the "Meke" brand adapter for the RF to EF, but I might have to get the "Canon" brand adapter to have better autofocus

    Do you have any tips on how I can get the full body focused rather than just the face?

    • @MitchLally
      @MitchLally  11 місяців тому

      Sounds like you need to do a bit of research into depth of field. Depth of field is the amount of your image that is in focus. A very thin depth of field occurs when your camera is close to the subject or you’re using a low f stop (f1.4, 1.8, 2.0 etc) - its impossible to have two seperate planes in focus at the same time so in order to get your whole subject in focus you need to both step back and stop down your aperture. This will then result in a less blurry background as a by-product - but that’s how optics work.

    I've heard RP has a major issue - blackens the viewfinder for some time after the shot. Is it so?

    I've seen sensor tests with this camera against the Fuji X-T3 and the X-T3 clearly wins. Do yourself a favor and save some money for the Canon Eos R.

    • @craigm7240

      X-T3 is beautiful, but $500 dollars more, and won't attract those who've had "full frame is better" drilled into their heads for years. Also, it's dynamic range is poor for what it costs.
