Skiing Missouri Mountain // Colorado 14er

- This video was shot on 6/19/2023 and is of my solo climb and ski of Missouri Mountain which is a CO 14ers sitting at 14,074 feet.
I decided to go up the main route due to fear of warming conditions and wet slides and skied down the north couloirs via what I believe is called the C Couloir (far right when looking at summit from below). In retrospect I’m glad I went this way as the ridgeline leading to Missouri Mountain was my my favorite part of this ski mountaineering adventure due to the epic 360 degree views.
This was my first time climbing and skiing in the Sawatch Mountains and couldn’t have asked for a better first peak for: views, location, and ski conditions. I started my climb at 5am and was back at the car at 11am yet did climb this quickly due to fear of warming which was not as bad as I expected. I dropped around 10am and skiing conditions were excellent and I can’t wait to get back and ski more of the surrounding mountains.
Stats: ~11miles, 4500 ft
Thanks for watching and I’ll catch you on the next adventure,
Jake

Sweet! Kudos!
Awesome stuff man!
This is another incredible adventure Jake! Very challenging but beautiful. Congrats on summiting ;) Great video man.
Thanks for watching and was a great final ski of the year
Sweet ride - what would you say is a good peak to try in Colorado from a novice mountaineering perspective?
In general I think it's a great peak for beginner mountaineer with spring (like when this video was shot) or summer conditions. I would say that more full winter conditions like pretty much all big peaks in Colorado this climb would take more advanced skills in avalanche condition assessment and route planning. I do have to give the caveat that if thinking about a snow climb to always be hyper-aware avalanche conditions and how weather can impact snowpack as these are the biggest dangers in my opinion when climbing these larger CO peaks.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions
