That woman's expression behind the gentleman speaking says it all. What an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing all this with those of us that can't go to see it!
@@DonalBoyd1 So true, but this eruption is like Mother Earth decided that she would give a nice little demo that can studied up close without all the terror that follow a large scale eruption like the one Hawaii had in 2018.
When the sun goes down, one can see a line of lights when people come and go. Their willingness to be watching the glowing lava after the sunset warms my heart.
No, this is an event to be viewed with others. I so envy you all, being able to watch this in reality rather than on a screen. I would so love to be there. I've wanted to go to Iceland all my life, and now even more so. I would have been on the next available flight if it hadnt been for the travel ban. Thankyou for making this lovely video, it's very much appreciated. With much love, from a broken heart, in Ireland. 💕
and think of the thousands of people across the planet sharing this with you who are lucky enough to be there; many of us totally hooked on watching it all unfold; quite an experience even remotely; thank you for letting us see it too with all your videos i
Incredible video, thank you for sharing. Volcanoes can be such an amazing show in their beauty but also in their awfulness...When people here are enjoying the spectacle, the people of St Vincent in the Caribbean, where the volcano "La Soufriere' has exploded, are hoping to save their lives. The contrast is total. A thought for them. Stay safe.
Was in Iceland for 4days Xmas 2020 what a wonderful place..!!! Didn't get to see this Spectacular eruption but this country is breathtaking!!!!Love from Ireland...!!!
This volcano didn’t begin erupting until mid-March. It was a calm valley then. Wait.// Our quarantine is 5 days between tests. You said you were here for 4 days. O_o
Lucky :( I’m USA and I had a school trip opportunity to go :( but I went into home schooling and I never got to go, but one day I wanna see this country, it’s so gorgeous
Not quite like this but as a kid living in Sicily, Mount Etna erupted pretty good and my parents drove us up the mountain close enough to check out the lava flowing. That was amazing.
At first I saw references to Mordor and hell. Once safe paths were established, mums and dads came with their kids, even infants. Gotta love this new generation❣
We were there August 7th '21, but haven't been lucky enough to see the eruption, the vulcano was sleeping that day and restarted to work during the night. That's why your video is even more precious for us. Beautiful footage, great human experience. Touching.
It expresses something that is deep within our being, a primal sense that is both fear and awe and belonging. In ages long past it was the tribe, it was the communal sharing of the experience of living one with another. For this brief moment it is happening again in the wilds of Iceland.
I truly hope this event brings people together, in a new way. We as humans, have been drifting away from one another. Enjoying a moment in our Earth's magical history.
I have spent the night there with one other person and it does not give you much more than being there with everybody. This thing is so grand that we are like dust compared to it and all the people around you are is as much awe as you are. So the feeling of the group is like being on a big concert, the joy and awe is contagious everybody is really happy and so happy the you get to experience this as well. Gone 6 times to it so far and every time you catch a glimpse of it the wonder starts and it just does not let you down. Thanks for the great video and insight.
This is so precious for all of us around the world who could not come to Iceland to see the eruptions ourselves. We were connected by videos and 24/7 webcams and live chats with the volcano and the people there. It was an awesome summer as long as it lasted. Every night watching the ever changing volcano, lava geysirs, golden fire streams, the fiery power of a living planet, of landscape-creating nature... fueling up my own energy and creativity to live on till he went dormant September 18th. I miss the volcano so much and I am not alone with this feeling.
Thank you for showing the greater Connection. May we All realize that the fire we're looking at is the Fire in Our Self. May we All realize that We are Not Alone. We are ----- Al-One. Go Forth and spread your Light.💗
What a beautifully shot and narrated film! Love the faces you have captured and the interviews. It is an event that needs an audience. Deserves so many more views and likes. When watching the live stream of the eruption and the time lapse, I enjoy just as much seeing the people gathered around the lava and watching their head lamps at night moving along the paths. I so want to visit Iceland to see this.
Thank you. This is what I wanted to see. More than just my fascination with the volcanic event, the shared human experience of the people who have the great fortune to BE there. It must be such a moving experience. This film certainly was for me. Thank you so much. (and please produce more!)
Yes, Thank you, I second this sentiment. I greatly appreciate that you created this video. This is the only video I've seen which shares that side of things (the shared human experience of those lucky enough to see it in person) with those of us following from home.
Tus comentarios y la perspectiva como miran este evento de la naturaleza es muy cierta, conectarnos sin miedo y admirar como es que nuestros continentes se hicieron, muy hermoso, interesante y maravilloso!!!
Nice video, as an Icelander it is something to see the difference of people coming to witness the power of nature and be in awe together. As a photographer also to capture the variety of faces seen at this remote sight in the middle of the Atlantic young, old, people of all colors is a unique and enlightening moment.
Excellent short! Truly loved your narrative about connecting in a primal way. I thought the same at the beginning of the film. I lived in Oregon when Mt St. Helens erupted, but as a pyroclastic flow that decimated land, trees, bridges and took lives for miles sadly. Yet, there was a great reminder of how nature is in control. Then, there was also the experience of seeing Crater Lake and the lava fields there...spectacular country. Thank you for so kindly sharing this. I'll be investigating more of your films, you've got the perfect mix of photography and narrative.
Hi Emily, thanks so much for your comment and thoughts. It's really humbling being witness to nature like this, especially knowing how destructive it can be. At the same time we have the opportunity to view it in the way we did, we must also respect its immense and uncontrollable power.
Interesting perspective. I've been trying to figure out why I am so obsessed with this volcano -- I have never been so interested in this stuff before. And there are so many people "following" it on UA-cam it is definitely a collective experience, however 'remotely'. For me, it feels like a release - geologically of course but also with the people. We are all connected, and we are all connected with the Earth. It's a collective geo-political catharsis ! I hope it is a healing. And the fact that it is happening in an area where no one can get hurt is very special. A safe space where Earth can release her tensions, and the people can participate in helping her simply by watching.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! It’s such a powerful event indeed. I love your idea about a global release - a global catharsis. We really needed it here and in a way it’s like a shift in the earth and in our minds for sure.
I guess its just what people want and need to see, how people can still unite and be human in a world that is kept hostage by a virus. Look at all those people happy, free and unmasked enjoying our true purpose to be connected. If they followed the rules, it wasnt allowed to be here with so many people at same time, but they didnt because they couldnt sell it anyway to restrict the amount of people going here in the first place. And guess what? Nothing bad came from it, just happy faces. I cant help but just to see it that way. If this was in US or elsewhere in Europe, this wouldnt have happened. This is Iceland and we got a message. Celebrate life and respect mother Earth. :)
The way it has been documented is so enriching and let's you connect with instantly, as if you are there with one of them and experiencing a once in life time moment. A moment where you see earth grow. And most importantly, how people have expressed their experience and connection with this Volcano is something to remember forever. ❤️
2:37 I've never known anyone who lived in any sort of fear of an eruption. Usually when we hear there is one imminent.. we get excited. and then get disappointed when they would say eruption will not happen. ....basically this whole line he says there is not true for Icelanders. This force of nature is a pert of our identity as a nation, and the fact we've embraced it over the years is something that makes us proud to be Icelandic.
Your Imaging and Story telling way sparked some unexpected emotion ... So I can only say; In Image and Story by far the best I've seen of this (Icelandic) earthly show 🥇 🏆
Thank you. Beautiful people good comments. We’re the human race. We should share our sorrows and our joys together as one people inhabiting earth. It’s a unique experience that throws us back in time to the birth of our universe. Hail to our Creator and God’s blessings on everyone!
Would’ve loved to be there. Fully impressed with forces of nature. Now, am I correct in my belief that volcanic activity is what the basis of icelands land mass is made of. Is this true for the Hawaiian islands as well? If so what does this all look like below the surface of the sea? Miles and miles of volcanic lava solidified into a mountain that finally pokes up from the sea surface? And continues to grow large enough for humans to live upon? Just crazy in my mind. Like the core of the earth pushing through a pinhole to the surface like a pimple on the face of earth itself.
This isn’t the first time Icelanders haven’t been afraid of eruption they have healthy respect for it and also they aren’t trying to make sense of it they are delighting in it Oh how American you are 😆 you are projecting your own culture onto Iceland 😁 but I’m glad you learn new way of love
This is awesome. I wanna go. I want to feel the awe of it. It would leave me humbled by God’s creation and the various ways it grows & and lives & breathes.
Watching 👀 and volcano 🌋 together brings back the humanity within us.
That woman's expression behind the gentleman speaking says it all. What an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing all this with those of us that can't go to see it!
What a genuine reaction indeed!
This was beautiful. I'd watch an hours long documentary of it, the power of mother earth on display and people telling their stories.
Mother Earth is indeed powerful! Thanks for your kind words !!
@@DonalBoyd1 So true, but this eruption is like Mother Earth decided that she would give a nice little demo that can studied up close without all the terror that follow a large scale eruption like the one Hawaii had in 2018.
I love when massive forces of nature can be observed safely and with respect. The footage i have been seeing is both liberating and humbling.
Beautiful country and experience. Thank you for sharing this video.
It is a true privilege to be able to watch this evolve, I have been there 3 times and every visit is anew unique experience!
Same here, everytime it's equally impressive and unreal.
...man, so awesome. Glad ya go to experience it, brother.
That would be a highlight for me to see in person. Thanks for sharing and your name is awesome! Took me a moment to sound it out but I got it!
When the sun goes down, one can see a line of lights when people come and go. Their willingness to be watching the glowing lava after the sunset warms my heart.
Connect with the humanity.. yes thats what we need to do now.. And this vulcano are helping us to do that. Beautiful video 😊
!!! Incredidible!!! Wow, awesome...!!!...awe inspiring!!! Lovely
Donal, Frank... Magic!! A different view as always. Sucking the world in and sharing it with us!! Thank you!

best volcano video... it's not about the volcano. It's about the people loving to co-exist with the volcano.
I love this. It beautifully captures one of the most amazing aspects of this volcano--the human response.
In a word... Fabulous.
It's one of those, " you had to be there " moments... Keep the videos coming.

Iceland is a very small population. We tend to come together here for big events. This is a biggie!

Very nicely done! I appreciated your point of view - the human side of this amazing event.
This is beautiful. The only thing I don’t like about this video is that it’s too short. I want to see more of it!

Oneness in wonder.
We really aren't- we are tucked away from life looking at a screen, its so fun👎
The only way to watch in my opinion.
