This is one of those instances I was so stuck in how I thought the netting had to be done that the concept of making a big, square box around the tree just didn’t cross my mind. Perspective , wonderful. Thank you so much.

Great solution for birds! Unfortunately the squirrels in my neighborhood would chew through that netting in seconds.

Exactly what I was needing! I struggled to think how I could protect my trees without building a greenhouse over them. Problem is I have 2 peaches, 5 apples, 3 figs, 1 cherry, 1 nectarine, 1apricot, 1 plum, 1 pear, 1 mulberry tree, on 1/3 acre, plus a veg garden and 3 large raised beds, a grapevine, elderberries, an herb garden and various pots and flower beds. This is an economical solution that I can start and add to over time. I used netting for a tomato bed before and an occasional bird would get stuck, but it was almost a daily chore to remove the lizards. They push their heads into the holes and can't figure out how to go backwards and just shove their heads in deeper, get hung, and then bake in the sun. Took down the netting. I think I can use different fabric or fencing material that will still let in the bees.

I saw someone using tulls fabric for the netting. I’ll have to look into this myself.

This looks a lot easier than the PVC cage I was contemplating to protect my blueberries.

Maybe use a steel hammer (rather than rubber mallet) for hitting in those steel stakes.

This is wonderful. Would you recommend the same method/netting for squirrels?

I build a cage the same way, but use 1/2 inch pvc electrical tubing and pvc corners made for furniture. I store the materials "out of the sun" for the rest of the year.

This looks like a great design but could someone explain why this is superior to simply netting the tree and synching it at the bottom?

Squirrels will rip this kind of netting with no effort if they can rip even a strawberry plastic box I encase in my peaches.

It’s nice to see your video.
I think it unsafe to attempt without and an assistant . assistance.
The ladder use is particularly important.
Dry, incomplete. Also completely ignoring safety concerns.
Do not put anyone in an unsafe situation.
It ain’t that easy when older. Understandingresponsibilities
