@@fdxcustomrods For sure!! I'm subscribed for future videos; working on my first rod build so this video really has been a life saver. Thank you again & excited for future content!
@@fdxcustomrods I actually had a quick question for you if ya don't mind. On the reel seat assembly in Part 1, do you have to use the reel seat insert/tube? I finally got most of the parts in for my build and this is my first time. But the diameter of my blank at the section where the reel seat will go is 15.6mm, which won't work with the I.D. of any of the G2 inserts. I have the 16mm G2 E-SEAT and I was planning to just not use an insert and maybe do a super super small arbor if needed to make it snug or even a wrap of size D thread. Thoughts? I called Mudhole earlier today but they said you needed to have the insert to use that reel seat. Thx for any advice!
Yes thank you. Just getting ready to build this exact handle and was looking at the hollow tube wondering how I was going to take care of that massive void. I’m building a northfork 808 swimbait rod w exact handle. I’m also doing the spiral micro air guides on it with a alps ringed tip top. I’m worried about the handle and guides holding up on the x heavy blank.
Beautiful handle and reel seat but 6 ounces of paste and tape defeats the purpose of expensive carbon fiber and skeleton reel seat. Would sanding foam arbors to size work? I'd think the paste would settle to one side and throw off balance. Not criticizing but curious if there is another way. Thanks for posting, I'm getting ready to build the same handle and seat. Your videos help prevent an expensive learning process.
The carbon fiber and reel seat is more about sensitivity and transferring vibrations from the blank into your hand. Overall weight in not generally the main consideration. If the rod is balanced properly, you will not feel the extra weight while fishing. I don't like the foam arbors because it gives you another glue joint with the possibility of failure. But, It's not a bad idea to try if you are concerned about saving weight.
Holy crap you're a life saver, this 3 part series is saving me. Thank you!!!
Thanks Phil. I appreciate you watching!

The arbor technique is great information. Thank you
Thanks for watching
Keep up the awesome work.
Thank you BT

The 808 is a great blank. As long as you use the arbor under the rear grip section and pack it full of epoxy you should be fine.
awesome video! thank you very much
Thank you sir!
Great content Lee keep it coming
Thanks Todd
