Bro! Thank you so much! I just rode home in a thunderstorm, fighting fog all the way home. 1hr30m. I do ride at night a lot! So, thank you for adding that aspect to your review. Thank you soooo much! I am ordering now.
Hey Mario, as always, thanks for your great vids. I have myself an Arai Xd4, the second Xd4 and before an Xd3, and yes fog is a PITA in this helmet. I didn't trust these cheap options before, so I bought an Arai pinlock ready shield and pinlock screen (One clear, and one smoked, I dumped the smoked one after the first ride, because the night caught me and it was really scary). The pinlock is not 100% fog proof, that's correct, but it only fails in severe weather conditions. It's rarely below 0°C (Colder if you keep in mind windchill factor) where I live. Also, I never try to get caught by rain even when I wear Klim from toe to head. I also found that controlling your breathing helps to avoid fogging, also opening a little the mouth vents makes a huge difference. I wear a balaclava or a neck sock to fight cold. Anyways, not sure if I will buy an Arai again because the new Nexx X.WRL is really catching my attention, in case I stick to Arai, I will give a try to the Arai antifog shield. A lot cheaper than my current setup, it cost me 250usd including, shield, pinlocks, shipping and taxes.
When I first bought this helmet Arai was making the pinlock shields. I tried 2 and neither worked at all. Spoke with the Arai rep and he said he was hearing the same back from other customers. The shape of the shield is “unique” so it was tough for it to properly seal. The anti-fog shield likely works fine but figured I’d try this cheaper alternative and so far it’s been working great.
Dude… saw this vid. Bought one. Finally got caught in a downpour in Evergreen, CO… best $20 EVER!! Thanks man 👍 I’ve been pissed at how much I spent on the XD4 bc of the fogging. Ha!
They discontinued it a few years back due to too many not working properly. (Can’t remember but think I stated in the video) I tried 2 different ones that didn’t work.
The pinlock is sold in Europe on the tour-x4 which is the same as a XD-4. I bought the pinlock ready shield and the pinlock from a EU Arai retailer for the same price as it would have been here in the USA and it works great. The key is to follow pinlocks installation videos on UA-cam and then it works great. (You have to turn the pinlock screws to the right position so the pinlock gets enough pressure but not to much). Great video though and if your product works, you save some money. I have my doubts though about riding in 30 degree temperatures with that stick on.
I wonder how well it works/ installs on a visor that is somewhat rounded, like a bubble and not just curved. My guess is it wont seal properly due to the compound curve.
Mario ... thank you. I have the same helmet, with one exception, my existing visor is tinted (moderately darker). Do you envision any flaring problem with a tinted visor?
I have the tinted one too and haven't installed the anti-fog insert on it (been wearing my tinted googles so much went back to just the clear sheild). I do run a pinlock on my Shoeis with the tinted shield and haven't had any issues.
hello mario, can you tell me which bike shops/warehouse do you have in the united states? or is there something like a kind of wal mart for bikes? Where do you shop for your bike „offline“? I'm asking because I'm flying soon to the US and I'd like to buy something for my bikes. Greetings from Germany
The absolute WORST helmet in the rain, but I also wear glasses. I am going to beat this thing to pieces with a sledge hammer and a splitting maul once it has expired from use. Love/hate this helmet. I have a pin lock visor spare, but haven’t tried it yet. But my normal setup is just an aria anti-fog visor, that has never worked, If this works, I am going to be ecstatic.
Hope it works for you. I feel the same way about the helmet. Now I’m glad I didn’t spend $80 on the Arai anti-fog shield. I’ve had this insert in for about 3 months and it’s worked great so far.
Very glad to find this, and I just ordered the Aria-specific version. Can't wait to try it out!
A great review! Thanks for taking the time to test this anti fog shield. Going for something that cost less doesn't always mean poor performance.
I this point I've ridden with some other guys who are using them and received emails from additional riders. All are getting great results so far.
This actually works really well. Thanks for saving me about $50!
Quite welcome. Happy with how mines still working as well

I just did this mod. Very happy!
Good to hear!

Glad it’s working out for you! My buddy Jeff put one on his XD4. We got caught is a storm last weekend and they continued to work great.
Fantastic review,Thanks!
Interesting, my XD-4 came with a pinlock included which I placed on my clear visor. Have been quite happy with it. Will see how it fares in winter.

Ordered! Great video. Much appreciated.
Thanks Jeff!
Good info...i definitely like the cheap alternative option from time to time. May need it for my cheap ls2 helmet. Thanks for the review
Thanks Ebon. Figured I’d roll the dice on it for the price and has worked great for the last few months. Appreciate the support.

They made this one specifically for Arai. There's a set universal one that works extremely well on my strada II
Can you pls share the link to Arai specific insert you mentioned, thanks for this video
It’s in the description. When you click the link, just select the Arai option.

@@2WR the one just completed saw some posts from your sister....
Hey Mario do you ever have issues with your rottweiler intake when riding in the rain and washint your bike? Water ingestion, filter losing oil, etc?

Yo. Channel and videos are looking great Mario.

Closest thing we have is a bunch of stores called Cycle Gear. I normally go to the local dealers.
@@2WR Thank you for your answer 👍🏻

You could have done a simple test. Poured hot water into a mug and placed the helmet over it. Nice review anyways.
