    This would be a good buy if you can set it up to extreme weather alerts based on your zip code.

    Does it have a weather alert? Would be nice to drop one of those in each group in case of a weather emergency.

      Not on this model - it only covers 700-800 mhz bands, the wx stuff is all down in vhf land. Other models possibly have that feature.

    Will this work in NY?

      Don't know, it all depends on what system(s) are in use in your location. Start with radioreference.com, and get an idea of what you want to monitor, as well as the system type. This particular model is for 800mhz p25 only.

    I ran into something the other day and I am not sure if what I saw is by design or not? Apparently, my battery was so low, the pager would not work. However, for at least a very short time, the screen was illuminated while the power/volume switch was OFF.

      OK, that's weird. I hadn't seen mine doing that at all, wonder what's going on there?

    what kind of connector do u need for that BNC r PL259 to hook up to outside antenna a SMA ? i been thinking about getting one

      Just whatever adapter set up will work. You don't lose any signal with most adapters (less than .1 db/adapter). The scanner itself is a female SMA, I have a pass-thru with SO-239, so I got a cable that goes from male SMA to PL-259.

    I picked up the G3 as most of my area is on VHF with a mix of agencies being on P25 & Analog. Got all the frequencies loaded up and can listen to everything perfectly. Issue I keep running into is setting up scanning. I choose a channel and change it to normal scanning but I'm unable to hear that channel but any others I add I can hear just fine. Any tips or tricks you can help with? Or a video covering some of these type of options. I really like the radio and has good audio and reception.

      One thing I've found, which is not the scanner per se, is that dispatch may have a much louder volume than the officers radios. I don't think I can set individual volumes on the G4, or other scanners I've seen. You're pretty much at the mercy of how they have their audio levels set up.
      I think that's what you're asking about?

      @@FEPLabsRadio Sorry I guess I didn't get what I was referring to across. When I listen to any channel the volume is good. The issue is say I go to the first channel (the city FD) in the PPS and set it up to scan several channels. Nothing is heard on the FD freq only the channels I added after selecting normal scan in the settings for that freq. Not sure if this makes more sense or not. Thanks for responding! Enjoy your videos.

    QUESTION !!! how do you program it my county is on p25 but it is the entire county i have a 996p2 that i put the control channels in but had to lock out the stuff i dont want as it comes u . how would i do that with that scanner/pager ???

    • @FEPLabsRadio
      @FEPLabsRadio  Рік тому +1

      Hey Jason, thanks for watching today! I have a 996P2, and it's a great scanner, but the interface on it lacks. On the G4 - it's just like I showed in the video. Create Zones (I use different cities for the zones). Then for each zone, you can have a knob position with the frequencies of interest. So, for Montgomery, I have on knob 1 - county fire/so, knob 2 city fire, knob 3 is city pd, and so on. Works sooooo much better, and IMO, makes way more sense. Be lookin for another video I have coming up!
