See if you can ohm out the coin cell pins on the other side of the PCB. Then connect a 3.0V regulator from the main battery to those pins. If that works, use magic to clip out the soldered coin cell, and mount a substitute coin cell on the visible side of the board.
The connectors are for the CTCSS board with a DIP switch which is mounted thru the back of the radio. Mine died so I threw it out. I may still have the charger somewhere in the shed.
I love old radios but had to sh!tcan anything that still used NiCds after having my blood tested for heavy metals and finding out I was polluted with cadmium. If it didn't support (or was modifiable to) Nickel Metal-Hydride or Lithium Ion, it was gone.
I enjoy and appreciate vintage gear. Good video.
Very cool old HT. I have a Yaesu FT-227 Mobile of similar vintage. 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
Nice find. Hopefully you'll be able to get the alignment adjusted.
Cool old HT Jim, looks like an old cb I had at one time
Sweet. Don’t forget how sensitive to proper cycling nicd batteries are.

Geez, they really don't want you to replace the dang battery!😮
Very nice HT they don't make it like that anymore😮
Looks a lot like the Radio Shack HT's of the time. I wonder if RS rebranded some of the Yaesu's? 73
You got a good deal on that radio
Yeah, I could not pass it up!
The wires are most likely for a ctcss board.
What a great deal Jeem. Looks like there are some adjustable pots inside. Maybe you could do the realignment yourself ;)
Possibly! There are some tools listed that I don't have. I do have an RF sig gen, a scope, and an SA. I think we could get pretty close.
@@FEPLabsRadio I reckon it's child's play for you Jim ;)
