    "Messiah" is truly the work of the Holy Spirit. It never gets old to hear it done well.

    This is the best I've heard in years, very clean sound from the singer and on point. Sure the other singers are good, but this performance from the singer is sung with utter conviction. The other 16 dislikes don't know how to sing!

    The 80s bridesmaids dresses! LOL I love this rendition of my favourite moment in this piece. The bass has a great voice and the trumpet does a great job of this too. The bass singer, though, really makes some quite peculiar shapes with his mouth. One of my first singing teachers told me to sing watching myself in a mirror. Watching yourself can stop you doing weird things with your face!

    Thank you so mush for sharing. Always a delight to hear this intelligent and refined singer. Cracking trumpet too. Love RL giving it welly (without strain) and showing the brass the four corners of the hall.

    I have a cassette of excerpts from this great work dated Easter 1992 performance in Ireland. I was not yet twenty two at the time. My Uncle Bob has sung bass in a local choir and also can play the organ. I don't know if he ever sang The Trumpet shall sound, though.

    What a great performance!! Makes it look so easy but it is one of the most demanding pieces for a bass singer..
    Do you know the name of the trumpeteer by chance? An admirable performance as well!
    Thank you for uploading this video!

    Brilliant performance, and so easy in his voice! He could clearly sing SO much lower, and respect for getting all those high notes! I bet sitting in the audience, his voice must be like a sledgehammer....in a good way. :) Why doesn't he smile a little more though, as it's quite a joyous aria?

    No sé mucho de estos temas, sólo sé que me dio por buscar "el barbero de Sevilla" y encontré a este hombre en el papel de Don Basilio... Me enamoró completamente su voz e interpretación, tanto que se convirtió en mi tema favorito de la obra.

      Da che punto di vista è un pregio cantare a 440?

    • @angelacooper2661
      @angelacooper2661 2 роки тому

      440 is the modern tuning of the note A, whereas 435 is more the baroque frequency (that is, G#). I know this because I have perfect pitch and can tell the difference easily. It is an advantage, because it is in the correct key of D major. I visited a museum of antique pianos and asked about the frequency, which was 435. So my musical ear is very keen (I play violin and viola).

    What type of trumpet is this (key, make, etc.)? It appears to be smaller than a standard B-flat trumpet.

    I checked out their version of this Aria, with Kennedy Dankwah as the vocalist. It's very good, though I'm not a fan of synthesizer replacing the real thing. Also his timing is a little different in places. He's clearly a Baritone (so not so comfortable at the bottom) but AWESOME none-the-less.

    The only gripe I have with this performance is the fact he's ALWAYS got his eyes on the score. Something I've always been taught as a tenor in training - whatever the performance - is to only use the score as a support, not to follow it intently. It just looks like he's not sure where it's going next, which is untrue as he sings it fine.

    Please don't minimise the work of the artist by advertising religious openinons. This recording is the product hard working artists and their believe in their artistic possibilities, nothing else.

    • @hymnodyhands
      @hymnodyhands 2 роки тому

      That assumes that none of those artists are of the Christian faith... for any number of them, this work would be a personal expression of their faith. The Messiah in particular is a favorite of those who believe in -- you guessed it -- the actual Messiah!

    He moves his jaw up and down quite a bit, is that the way to sing this?

    • @mattyd3079
      @mattyd3079 2 роки тому +1

      I noticed his mouth makes some peculiar shapes too. I wondered whether it might cause some tension, but he sings it very well, so it obviously works for him. I could be wrong, but I think we all have slightly different anatomy so maybe we need to find what works for us to get the best sound without causing vocal problems. I've noticed some opera singers use the jaw to regulate how much vibrato they use, but I think it's probably not a great technique. The vocal work should be coming from within... I think...

    Hello, I am the woman who is involved with a man who attends the SDA church. I am very leery of that church and it's beliefs. I talk to many of the church goers and they defend that faith and have answers for everything. I am very disturbed by the belief they have concerning hell and how one is annihilated after a time and they don't believe in a literal hell. They think that one just get's destroyed and out of existence forever. They also believe that Arch Angel Michael is Jesus. This is twisted or conflicting with my beliefs which I grew up Catholic. I thought that Catholics were distant and snobby until I walked into this church. I am confused and need help defending my beliefs and what is more truth than the doctrine they follow which I believe is false. You stated that you are Catholic and I am just wondering if you could help me so I can find the answers I am looking for. I got a hold of you here because it was some time ago and I had a hard time finding you to respond to you. Thanks
