  • We look at a 50 year old cartridge and compare it to a modern day cartridge. Is a high velocity cartridge worth the extra recoil??? There is a spreader cartridge that semi auto shooters might find interesting. We look at how long the various velocity cartridges take to travel 40 yards. Finally we look at the best combination of velocity and recoil that suits us best...Happy Shooting...Roger Pace

    Roger… I know this video is a few years old but I just found your videos on UA-cam and they are all VERY informative. I have never seen someone go into detail about the different cartridges we shoot on the range. GREAT JOB….!!

    My son and I have moved back to the 24 yard line for our handicap round. Our scores have dropped a bit. I have been reloading cartridges to 1180 fps to keep recoil down. I have upped the charge to increase it to 1235 in a hope to gain some accuracy and have cleaner breaks. I still patterns well. Now to work on lead and hope the increased speed of the cartridges will help.
    As always, great video, Thanks Tim Baker

      Tim... congratulations on making it to the 24 yard line...when that far back...any tiny mistake is amplified...my personal belief is that a quicker cartridge will allow you to shoot the target without making any changes to your sight picture

    I really enjoy your videos. Very informative. Just had to say you're input is appreciated. The tips you give are very useful and common sense. I especially found your "Gun Fit" video very good. Thank you for taking the time to share.

    “That’s what I shoot, and often miss with.” I’m still smiling over that one. I’m new to shotgun sports (after shooting rifles and handguns for decades) and find your videos most helpful. Plus I very much enjoy your avuncular personality and delivery. See bird, shoot bird. Best regards from Las Vegas, Nevada!

    i've shot Fiocchi Spreader for long time in my Optima PS20
    20 Gauge semi auto shotgun for several months :) good cartridges for short clays....for long distances standard ammunition with right chokes do the work better! :-)

    Very informative video . I have a Benelli Montefeltro semi auto . What kind of choke do you recommend for clay pigeon?

    • @rogerpace9322
      @rogerpace9322  6 років тому

      Fabian...with a semiauto there's only one barrel so i would use a 3/4 choke (improved modified) it has 2 notches on the choke...good on you and happy shooting!

      Roger Pace , Thank you very much for your quick answer.
      I’m going to replace my cylinder choque for your suggestion.
      Thanks again and keep the good work !

    G’day Roger.. Big fan of your informative videos. Just bought a silver pigeon DTL shotgun and wanting to get your thoughts/ recommendation for a good target load cartridge. Other than the champion, would you recommend any of the Falcons or Winchesters from experience?
    Cheers
    Raj

      Rajesh...silver pigeon good choice very reliable...lots of people at the club say falcons are good...i have shot the red winchesters and they are good the winchester supertargets in a whitish box i have shot a few times but did not like them...dont know why but just didnt like them

      @@rogerpace9322 Thanks for sharing your thoughts Roger. Will give the Falcons a go as they seem to be popular at my club as well & so are the red Winchesters. Cheers.. - Raj

    I keep hearing a lot of shooters say the term "follow through". Can you give me a better definition on that?
    Also which do you prefer for skeet and trap? 20 gauge, 12 gauge, or 16 gauge?

    • @rogerpace9322
      @rogerpace9322  8 років тому +1

      gbuent...you see the clay...you move your gun to it...pull the trigger and keep moving the gun after you have fired...not lifting your cheek...stay in the gun after you have fired...some shooters say they don't see lead ...they point,shoot and keep moving the gun ...the follow through is what gives them the lead...in short follow through is "keep swinging the gun after you have fired your shot"...stay well...Roger

    • @rogerpace9322
      @rogerpace9322  8 років тому

      gbuent...I only have a 12 gauge so that's what I use ...most shooters use a 12 gauge...Roger

    • @Prairie7777
      @Prairie7777 6 років тому

      I would also add that by using a 12 gauge you are afforded more pellets per load. Using a smaller gauge adds a handicap to your shooting which is a good thing as you progress in shooting ability.

    You should use a different thumbnail for every video, makes finding and identifying specific videos easier in a sea of vidoes all with the same preview image.
