There are two more straps that attach to the sides of the boot/tailgate, also if you angle the rack so the bikes are leaning away from the car you will have gravity on your side stopping them falling off, also might be worth taking of the pedal nearest the car to save it scratching the paintwork, I use this rack 2-3 times a week takes 2 minutes to install/uninstall
Just got a similar one. Bit of a palaver tbh, but I think it might get easier. Worth considering if your bike will fit. I have a heavy mountain bike which has tubing WAY too wide for the clamps, and also too short to fit over the bars. Bike needs to be of traditional design. A lot of bikes now have tubing of wide bore and/or unusual cross-section and I can see users having bother.
@@silverback1540 Every car is different, but if your car isnt as angled at the back as Toyota C-HR, it shouldn't scratch the paintwork. At least mine doesnt!
Thank you! I had an identical one by a different brand so they must all be made by the same company. This saved me so much time and stress as the instructions are terrible and a video is best. For anyone with a hatchback like an older Honda Civic the top clips would be on glass. This did not feel safe so a way around it is to open the boot and string the strap through the hinge until the hook is secured by the hinge. Then pull the strap over the back window to the clip. The strap is in contact with the window but the hook held by the hinge is taking nearly all the strain.
I noticed it's very handy that the car you're using for the demo doesn't have a rear number plate positioned on the tailgate/boot/trunk like the majority of cars, otherwise that would have just highlighted the fact that the number plate would be obscured when this rack and a bike is fitted, rendering your car illegal to be used on the public roads.
Hello. I bought this product from Decathlon yesterday for my Toyota Yaris 2017 Hybrid car. When I examined the book, I couldn’t find any information for the Yaris model. I wonder if it is not compatible with Yaris and does it pose a security risk?
Not sure if this is anti theft. I will be traveling and will have bikes on the car while we are away. Will it be safe?? I think the robber can cut the strap ??
I have a rack like that and a new used VW Up! And it has the little spoiler on the back of the roof as well. Aren’t you concerned that the straps ruin the paint work?
Just installed mine and about to go on first drive long distance. Worried about the glass with the pressure on it. Carrying a fat tire bike at 67.5 lbs and a girl's bike at around 15-20lbs. Weight capacity stated 100 lbs max so close to it.
I drive with 2 bikes for more than 250miles cross country, without any problem, just check belts few times and tight them if you need. Carrier passed my test
Do the longest straps (2 of) attach to the top of the car/boot /trunk..? Then the shorter straps (4 of) must attach to the sides and under the boot/ trunk..? The manual instructions are useless..!
Same dillema for me. My spoiler is plastic and kinda protrudes longer. I was wondering if I could just place the top hooks to the sides. But I don't know if it will be secure enough
Pudieras compartir foto de cómo están colocados los tirantes? Creo que los estoy pasando mal por el accesorio metálico y el de plástico. Se aflojan y no tensan bien
hook is metal not plastic, tested with 2 bikes for 600km in one day, no problem, just tight all parts and thats it, when you stop it check it to be sure.

Must be kidding with the 2 minutes to install lol. It takes close to 10-15 on a good day haha
Takes me at least 20 minutes 😂

Does the clips scratch the paint? Planning to get one.

It does have a registration plate. It's below the bike, it's just blurred out
It’s fully adjustable so can be mounted on any vehicle type in such a way as to not obscure the number plate.

Thats not same model

Than you lock them all
I have a rack like that and a new used VW Up! And it has the little spoiler on the back of the roof as well. Aren’t you concerned that the straps ruin the paint work?
You have a foam on that parts that touches the glass and paint, upper and down, so no worries if we talk about same model
Shouldn't the section where you place the bike be pointing upwards?
No, why
Agree, it should, my manual says 20 degrees up so that gravity can also help.
*I was expecting a lot of shortcuts to be taken at this price. I was wrong. Decent quality **Latest.Bike** raker . Easy on easy off.*
Instructions on my bike rack say not to rest it on your window. Has doing this caused you any problem?
No problem, i drive every year on vacation with 2 bikes 550km, had a sponge on part that is touching window
Is there a way to lock the bike to the carrier from theft?
Hi. Need help. You put it on your window? Did not brake it?
No, why would be braked, it have foam and no damage at all. Drived 2 bikes for more than 500km in one day...
Not sure how it was secure from the bottom but, won't the bike sway while travelling?
Sorry, just not clear enough how the straps are attached to the rack in the first place, before mounting rack to the car.
they are attached with screws to rack
Hahahaha wow
I'm struggling as well. Wish he spoke in the video to explain. Stuck at the straps part :-(

Any problems woth the glass I just got one and worried about that too. Was thinking of moving it down on yhe hatch it self
mi hai risolto un grande dubbio difatti lo montavo sempre al rovescio e non capivo come mai sul vetro non toccava, grazie complimenti
Great! Glad that helped you
How safe is it in your hatch's rear windshield? how much speed you go and how much weight should the bike be, before it cracks the windshield? Thanks
No more than 45 kg, i drive on highway 150 km/h without problem
@@KrunoEti Thanks!
You are welcome
Is that a plastic spoiler? Is it safe to run the strap over that thing?
Recently bought a similar bike rack , however it has rubber ties . It has been a test of patience for my hubby n son so far ! Any tips ?
Do the longest straps (2 of) attach to the top of the car/boot /trunk..?
Then the shorter straps (4 of) must attach to the sides and under the boot/ trunk..? The manual instructions are useless..!
Yes, just like that
I am concerned about the top straps damaging my top (plastic) spoiler thingy when they pull down.
Vauxhall Mokka, 2013-4. Any tips please?
those straps supose to be gummed
@@KrunoEti What does "gummed" mean???

I installed mine and tested driving nearby the bike swayed when i drove, is that the same for you?
It is normal that it will sway, but then tight it more and better
@@KrunoEti thanks a lot for your reply!
i struggled to fit the bikes on the rack - almost like the rack is too wide (or maybe the bike too small)
Doesn't it get load on rear bumper
How’s the performance so far?
Can you use it with a sedan car??
Will you be able to open the boot with the bikes on or you will need to remove everything?
