Great no-nonsense video Keith, in answer to the question of rear automatic wipers I remove the appropriate fuse when I fit the bike rack. I found out the hard way when I burnt out my rear wiper motor - hope this helps Cheers bikers.
Thanks, good video. There's currently a shedload of these carriers (and others) on eBay for a fiver. The fact that there is nowhere to easly attach straps underneath my car was putting me off purchasing one. Your obvious choice of attaching those straps to the lower edge of the boot lid has suddenly made this carrier a viable option. For those wondering if this fits to saloon cars - it looks as though the it will, plus one of the illustrations on the box show the t fitted to a saloon.
@@eddiecz I don't recall my exact search, but I did get mine for a fiver though I had to drive halfway around the M25 to collect it from a hospice in Watford. Take into account the Dartford Crossing fee X2 and then the straps I replaced, I may as well have bought a new one lol.

That makes more sence than their instructions for sure. The bit that had me puzzled was when it said 5cm space between the bottom. I see you sat it on the bumper and it looks way more secure.
Thanks Keith, but you have it resting on the plastic bumper! With better adjustment of the frame at the start, you'd have it 5cm up and away from the bumper as advides. Nothing then leans on plastic. Aslo the rubber straps holding the crossbar on need to be threaded through a slot before clipping them home.
Great video you helped me decide between this version and the Clip on Thule version sold by Halfords. I was not keen on the metal clamps on my boot could possibly lead to it scratching my car.

Mike Bullard thanks, yes everyone should always be advised by the manufacturer instructions. The Halfords video is great. I beleive they made it after I made this one.
Good instructional video. However, that is not how you use the red straps. There are two red straps, of which connect to the frame both sides. You thread the red straps through the wheels and frame of the bikes and secure. This is to stop the bikes falling off the carrier. I have one of these racks and Halfords insisted that is how the red straps are fitted.
barryallcock1976 that’s great thanks, it was the instructions that said not to attach to the frame and to fasten to the two black straps on the carrier. I don’t guess it matters but that’s what it said. Thank you for your comment though.

Yogi G thanks, to be honest mist of the weight seems to go onto the lower support on the bumper. I did wonder this myself, however the manufacturer instructions show this is ok so I trust that they have researched this. I’ve not had any issues in the couple of years I’ve used it. Hope that helps
Yes the wiper may not be able to move. So on newer cars with auto wipers it will need positioning to allow or remove the nut keeping the wiper on. You can’t see out the window with the bikes attached anyways ha
Is the spoiler on the boot considered to be plastic? Am trying to find something for my car but they keep telling me this kind of rack could damage/crack the spoiler on the car. Thanks for any info.

Hi, I paid about £90 for the carrier. Make sure that you don’t have an auto rear wiper blade as the carrier may obstruct it from working. My vehicle never had one so this was not an issue for me. If you go to the Halfords website you can enter your registration number in and it will tell you the best carrier to use for your vehicle. Thanks and Keep safe...

And I'm fairly sure you can open the boot when it's attached like that. Which is handy. Wouldn't try that with the bike on though.

Imran Khan I’ve never noticed any damage. I also face the bikes in different positions. You can buy foam to put between the bikes I believe.
