- Norton Shores Police Department was aided by local animal rescue groups Pound Buddies, Harbor Humane Society and Glen Park Animal Hospital to assist with the neglected dogs. The dogs were evacuated on January 30, 2023. Video provided by Norton Shores Police Department.
May all these scared poor dogs find a forever loving home. God bless them all.

Idk how this person ended up w/so many an I also noticed they looked fairly well taken care of .. not looking underfed or scared for the most part .. seems this person was trying to make the best they could for the dogs .. this is a crazy story

Shaming people who have the incapacity to drive for days on end to rescue dogs when there are dogs in my own community that need rescuing. I foster dogs. My dog is a rescue that has seizures and is a tripawd. I got her from the city pound. She was highly unadoptable because of her medical problems, but I took her anyways and she has saved me as much as I saved her. She is worth every bit of money I have to throw at her care, which is considerable.
@@christinahitson4837 I researched this situation to find out what is happening with these animals. A large number of them had distemper. Distemper is a communicable disease. This woman that did this to those animals is probably mentally ill and a dog hoarder. She's self styled a "dog rescue", but no dog rescuer would house nearly 80 animals in a tiny house and be able to care for them properly. She got one rescue with distemper and it spread it to all of the other healthy animals. Distemper is a terrible way to die. I had a cat that died from distemper when I was a kid. It is uncurable and it takes a lot of supportive care to get over it, most don't get over it. It is kinder to put them down if you can't put them on an IV drip that will give them a fighting chance.
I foster animals. I have worked with local rescue orgs to help house animals. There is an intake routine to hold dogs isolated until their health can be ascertained. Kennel cough and distemper can decimate a shelter. Because of her actions a lot of healthy young dogs are going to die incredibly painful deaths unless they are euthanized. She just let that go on unchecked with literally dozens of dogs. She needs mental health care, but her actions are really cruel
I hope the community comes together with donations to help.
They won’t…nobody wants to put their hand in their pocket when it comes to animals. They’ll talk about it and all, but I’d be extremely surprised if they actually did anything or contributed in anyway!

My dog was rescued from an animal hoarding situation. Sophie lost 16 teeth. She’s now living the good life. Please adopt. These babies are the best and deserve to be loved.

Terribly sad situation. The person living there was obviously an animal hoarder. Despite the huge number of dogs and poor living condition all seem quite healthy and friendly. So not bad dogs and not a bad person just someone with mental health issues who thought they were doing the best for all the dogs no one else wanted. Hopefully they will all find new loving homes.
Sadly that's not the case!! She's been breeding them.. MANY are very sick. She's been selling diseased dogs. They've had no medical attention. She was doing this out of GREED! Just profiting from their misery!

No there were a number of dogs that were sick & malnourished. Someone had to have known this person was hoarding animals and should have reported it long before it got this bad.

Inappropriate conditions for sure, but the person thought they were protecting the dogs from a life of starvation on the streets. Note: none of the dogs appear to be malnourished, nor are they aggressive. This is NOT criminal activity, but rather horribly misplaced compassion for dogs. I wouldn't judge the owner so harshly.

Apparently the story continues where this was a business Cober's Canines. The owner sold these dogs. Not simply a hoarder wanting to help. People paid several hundred dollars only to have huge vet bills for very sick dogs.

I so agree with you. The animals did look very calm and socialized and didn't look malnourished. One older dog did look in poor health. These animals were Probably all picked up from the streets in desperate need. Thank god they found this this home. It was crowded but warm and plenty of food and family.

To the workers who responded to this home and handled all the dogs with love and compassion, thank you. It takes strength to remain professional and compassionate, you have my deepest respect.
This person who was willing to take these strays in and feed them has my respect! It is very costly, time consuming and most folks are too lazy or uncaring to do this! Plain to see they were overwhelmed by the numbers!
If people were so concerned about pets, they would keep them in their yards and then there would NOT be strays! People around me let theirs roam around and get hit by cars! I can't stand those folks.

Animal hoarding is common the owner need mental help. They are wearing mask which mean it is dirty and stink. Animals need a clean home.

The caged dogs that were being held in the shed broke my heart! 😭 There were several who couldn't even stand up because the cages weren't large enough. Poor babies! 😩

Unfortunately, rescue groups that warehouse a lot of dogs are a big part of the problem.
What’s overboard is the stray pet epidemic , some people mean well and are trying to help them get off the streets , where they do not belong ! the core problem is too much breeding , between breeders and homes, people need to get pets fixed, especially mama dogs and mama cats , it will stop over population , it’s cheaper than raising litters & more importantly it saves pets from unnecessary fate! Rescuers are so overwhelmed , perhaps our donations should go to more abandoned / renovated homes , or sanctuaries to facilitate, all the strays in different towns and cities , someplace volunteers , rescuers can work out of to care for these beautiful babies so they have shelter ,love and care . 🙏🏾♥️

I understand that the owner just wanted to provide them food and shelter and isnt a bad person. They all look well fed. Too many dogs in need in this world. Some people just want to keep them off the streets and think hoarding them is better.

@justmissjamey these dogs look mixed. A few were full bread, which also end up in shelters. Just because you are listed as a breeder doesn't mean you are still breeding dogs. This looks more like a case of someone who wanted to care but got overwhelmed. Now, for sure they will be in tiny cages and most likely killed in kill shelters. I hope and pray that all are adopted by caring families.
This illustrates how much dogs are pack animals. In spite of the conditions they were calm, friendly to people and not fighting with each other. Dogs need company.
They all seem rather docile. This is what leads me to believe they were people's pets. They are also beautiful! May God leave them all into there forever homes I do believe happiness is coming for all of them.

And most likely heart broken that all the dogs have been taken away. Would you rather these dogs end up at the annual Chinese dog meat festival?
Calling and reporting animal cruelty, hoarding Is anonymous, it took one one individual to do this?? All those homes around and nobody dare to call the Humane Society? The police? Afraid of what? Shameful unless the whole neighborhood was complicit in getting clients to buy her puppies. Those dogs were caged in humanly getting skin diseases from sitting in their own urine and feces and every other condition imaginable. She is a criminal!
@edstar83 exactly and how much of an Angel are the people that reported her when over half of the dogs are euthanized for not getting adopted when they should have simply left any that were not adopted with the owner because they were well fed and clean

When the dogs were being passed out they were sweet. This shows they were not treated meanly. No dog showing teeth or growling at strangers most wagging tails,shows they are well loved. Perhaps this was someone who started with a dog sanctuary & ended up with a hoard situation. It gets expensive with more the ten dogs , medical wise the vetting would be out of the world ,on up keep ®ular check ups alone. Wow ..every building & there’s more this is crazy…

It was 'Cober's Canine Rescue' and the 42-year-old owner said on the website that the dogs were, "Rehabilitated, slightly spoiled and very loved". Either the owner is disconnected from reality or she deserves to go to jail.

My thoughts. Completely gone awry but they look wellfed, no dead dogs, one dog with a visible abces -more will prob. come to light- and they are all friendly. My heart bleeds, not only for the dogs, but also for the hoarder.

A GOLD STAR for whoever took the strays in and tried to take care of them! Most looked well fed, fat and happy! The person(s) should have been given aid! They were willing to take care of them which requires a lot of time and effort, they just needed a bigger facility! The Cages, Dishes, PC Monitoring Cameras, AC, food and Pee Pads are very costly!
If folks kept their dogs in their yards there would NOT be strays out on the streets! "The good man cares for the needs of his animals, while the mercies of the wicked are cruel!"

Feel so sorry for the dogs and the person who was trying to help all of them. What compassion this person must have to take in so many ( probably unwanted) dogs. The dogs looked like they were fed well. The house was just not big enough for so many. I don't think the person who did this had bad intentions...just a big heart. Hopefully they will go to loving homes. I hope the person who was trying to care for them will get help too.

As someone who has had rescued dogs for years, this is just awful. I'm in tears for all these poor babies. No dog deserves this and I pray they all are vetted, helped and adopted. Please update this story.

Well I guess death is better than being fed and healthy because for as many as she had most were in good shape and for having almost 80 dogs I'm surprised there wasn't even more crap on the floor now most will be killed for not getting adopted because they're just hound mixes
@@alysabrumfield9607 The ones with distemper may be killed because it is a horrifically painful death accompanied by seizures. She should not have been breeding dogs.
@Sus Annwyl I have no problem with the ones with distemper behind put down but they will kill young healthy ones that don't get adopted and what if some were pregnant when she rescued them also she was obviously overwhelmed what if she tried to separate them but accidents happen like I separated my female pomeranian in the bathroom and my male pomeranian chewed threw door wich happened to be hollow cheap wood. Not only that but if she was financially caring for all of them by herself its not hard to understand why she probably didn't have the money to fix all of them. Yes she did do some things rong but I believe her intentions were good and she should be punished when they let real criminals like rapists petiphiles burglars gangsters run loose on "probation" now if she was intentionally breeding them than yes that is unacceptable

Excellent work Norton Shores Police Department & Pound Buddies, Harbor Humane Society & Glen Park Animal Hospital, these dogs are obviously so traumatized & so extremely grateful for help & they know they are finally being helped you can see it in their grateful exhaustion & the confusion on their faces; that maybe now their lives will feel more balanced. They did not ask to be born & to be treated so cruelly we will pay it forward.

Please do give updates. If any of these beautiful doggos end up in the Humane Society in the Midwest, I'm sure they will be adopted. Thank God for these rescuuers!

The owner rescued and fed them and now they will be euthanized by the new "rescuers" when they don't get adopted in time instead of bringing them back to were they were fed and cared for

My Beautiful Husky, that my Son brought home from the Army, was stolen about 6 months ago. She was pregnant at the time. I've been so heart broken 💔
They look very friendly and just want attention.
I’m sure the home owner started out with best intentions to rescue and then got overwhelmed not being snow to rehome them. Very sad. I sure hope they all get to live their lives and are not euthanized.

Thank God they were rescued with hope to find a good loving home poor dogs it's so sad & heart breaking the way they had them living. Great job to everyone that was involved in this rescue.

Die arme Puppis da waren auch kleine,grosse,im Kàfig eingesperrt so ein grosser Hund.

@@janaamina6703 So wie ich das verstanden habe, hat jemand ganz privat einfach soviele Hunde „gesammelt“ und unter solch abscheulichen Bedingungen gehalten. Gibt es ja auch hierzulande und ist unter dem Begriff „Animal Hording“ bekannt. Allerdings sind die meist nicht in Käfigen, sondern in einer Wohnung oder einem Haus. Das hier ist ja noch schlimmer. Polizei, Tierschutz und ein Tierhospital haben zusammen gearbeitet um die Tiere zu befreien.

Thank you for freeing them from cages for the rest of their lives. At least, Every one of them looks WELL FED. It looks like someone was trying to do the best they could to rescue dogs with what they had to work with. I pray every one of them finds good & loving homes. Thank you for being so loving & kind with them . This was a huge job for all of you. I hope if any of them were the humans "Own personal dog's" the little one's running free in the house, that they return them to them. They were obviously Loved, & all are very Sweet.
So sad. I hope every one of these beautiful dogs ends up in a loving home.
