- In this video I install lead drip edge details. And lead aprons to a EPDM rubber flat roof. Using code 4 sheet lead. We have also used a Nicholson AirTrak system to achieve adequate ventilation.

Yes its sole purpose is just to give a straight edge to fold to. You can use copper or stainless steel. Other metals react with the lead. Copper is the easiest to work with. Stainless steel you have to pre hole.

Interesting Balcombe did a few jobs just down from there Cuckfield and Haywards Heath.. That's a big roof and it is unusual that it is a Mansard type roof not sure why in the countryside usually in the town unless there was height restrictions. Seems a lot of work rather than making it a normal roof like the one next to it. Jezzo that's a lot of lead on that big roof that would have kept you busy for a while. I know nothing about EPDM never worked on any. That tape you dropped reminded me of the renovation of the Queens hotel in Brighton cars parked next or under the scaffold (not supposed to of course) and someone dropped a hammer landed next to the car must have bounced off a few poles on the way down. I’ve worked on EPDM roofs a few times now. I recently worked on one that was installed 10 years ago. And it was still bonded to the lead apron like glue. I think it’s pretty good. You just need to be careful as it punctures easily. But I think it can easily be repaired.
Yep, trust me to drop my tape on camera 🤦🏻♂️😂. I actully wasn’t on this one for very long. Because it was a straight line. It all went on fairly quick. But lovely views.

surely the lead should be saddled over the ridge tiles not under then pointed up
This is absolutely fine like this. There’s a valley saddle underneath everything you see. Also the lead apron you’re referring to has a welted edge to stop any water travelling in the unlikely event it makes its way that far back.
Them 200mm laps should be 50mm imo, especially If they are gluing rubber to it.

Boards should be 18mm Sterling OSB, not ply wood.
Roofing grade plywood is suitable for both epdm and lead roofs when both are vented.

Glueing epdm to lead is a huge nono, epdm is the worse invention ever
It’s no different than the lead being fixed by asphalt or torch on. It’s why the lead is in 1m sections. As suggested by the LSA.
Clueless you just don’t like it because you’re sht at it simple as that if you knew how to use the system properly you would know how good it is. There’s no such thing as a bad roofing system just bad installers
