The TR was designed by Subaru engineers who have loads of experience and expertise. They didn’t just smack some parts on the TR. They modified the chassis and the entire suspension to accommodate those brakes and wheels. The also retuned the steering. Then, I presume, they tested all of it. Not everyone wants to mod their car. Some of us are willing to pay for installed enhancements.
This TR’s problem is not the value proposition compared to lower trims it’s the GR Corolla which is objectively mechanically superior and can be had for less or slightly more in the US depending on trim level.
as a side note, all the higher trims TR/RS, TS, Sport, and Sport-Tech, are all just as fast as the base model, and all have open diff. it's mind boggling. just give us an STI already.
Very informative video! Just today, upgraded my 22 to a 24 WRX Premium. Like you, having the dealer install the Sport Grille and also the Fog Light Trim - LED to give it a unique look. Had to also go with the Sapphire Blue 😎
I agree. Compared to pricing of Base and Sport trims, TR pricing is reasonable considering you are getting Recaros and Brembos. One annoying thing is that Subaru’s announcement of Ts trim right after RS(TR). It feels like the TR trim was put together in a bit rush by adding some extras from parts bin, and soon they realized they should do a Ts trim. I wouldnt be surprised they sell Ts trim for one year as well.
I'm a 23 base owner, man they really upped the price for the 24 base model for no real reason this year here in canada. The only upgrade really is the infotainment, but personally i prefer the base infotainment and an upgrade is $500 on ebay for those who want it.
@@paininthepatoot The only thing that I’m not a huge fan of the GT is the CVT only option. Also, the GT doesn’t get the brembos but it does have adaptive suspension!
If you don’t have kids sure. If you got a family the outback wilderness will not be lacking in terms of acceleration, it will blow the WRX out the door for utility and the only thing missing is manual.
I own a 24 Outback for family duties and a 24 GRC. The Outback drives like a boat there is no feedback it’s like comparing apples to oranges sure the xt is quick(er) than your typical econobox and comfy and roomy but the driving dynamics is what you’re paying for with a WRX CTR GRC
If I had extra 8K USD to spend I would get a Civic type R or GRC. More potent engines with warranty at similar price point as the TR in thel US. However, value for money the premium or base trim is way better and affordable when you end up getting the same power. For a 271 hp car street car for carrying family brembos and recaros are an overkill.
Those engines are not more potent at all. In fact the WRX engine is way more potent than the GRC or Type R. Those cars just come with more power from the factory. But once you start modding the car, the WRX out-performs them and has higher limits.
@@djsir901just a tune can match or exceed stats of the gr or type r, if hp and trq are the only metrics we are concerning ourselves with. The JDM STI CVT vb is something like 310/295, same engine just different tune. There are multiple videos out of there showing that even without a tune the vb is putting out more than Subaru advertises. The whole car concept; I'm buying a WRX because of space, I'm 6'2", my wife is 6', the AWD is fantastic, the mod and tune potential is greater than the aforementioned, and I refuse to pay beyond MSRP. @@murmsuniversalrobotics3938 agree 100%. The type r and GRC have horrible back seats and no moonroof. A simple OTS tune puts the WRX above everything it competes with.

I don’t disagree but I bet these talented engineers were just dying to have these preordered STi mods installed on the actual thing.

The recaro seats aren’t that good. Limited seats are by far superior
Great video just bought my 1st Subaru WRX TR 2 days ago. Fun little car.

On the Canadian web site the WRX GT seems to be better (at least it is priced higher) then the RS. Any comments on the differences?

They have plenty of cars available for media but when the costumer pays real dollar, wait for 3 months.
