9:06 - That is one epic beard! I hope that guy never shaved. And the kid he's talking to sort of reminds of Corey Feldman back in the day. Maybe it's the hair. 10:20 - Oh wow, we had that EXACT book she's holding up. My family went to Disney during Spring Break of 86, and I remember pouring over the book every day before we went, and just about every day after we came back for a while.
0:14 The singers of the Square Pegs closing theme are the 80's one-hit-wonders The Waitresses. Their one-derful hit is the song "I Know What Boys Like". I saw that name and immediately experienced that recall...I was a little kid when "Square Pegs" originally aired but my mom liked it so I did too.
This print cut to using the standard standalone blue screen Embassy Telecommunications closing logo (with its jingle) rather than the in-credit version which on some episodes actually has the same jingle!
I got a WDW vacation guide in 87, I think. I finally got there 20 years later! I think Channel 60 used the same number font as KPDX 49 (as seen in Volume 400)
Man, these group actually makes me kind of curious about the the shows the credits were from. Also no matter how many times i see them I cannot get over the entendre's in the juicy fruit ad.
I honestly don't know what's more creepy about that My Child commercial. The dead eyed dolls staring into space like it was an All-Doll production of "The Birds" or Echo Effect on the Child's voice in the song.
Chicago had a SUPER and a POWER station, how could you go wrong? Zillions magazine had a name before that, Penny Power. Those magazines got me into the adult version of Consumer Reports!
And WGBO rerunning a sitcom that ran only one season in Square Pegs. WGBS CHannel 57 in Philly launched in Fall 1985(WGBO launched in early 1986 in Chicago, as per Wikipedia), with a logo similar to the Channel 66 logo seen here, and CHannel 57 had been billed as a SUperstation early on.
Methinks My Child was Mattel's (bad) attempt to cash in on the Cabbage Patch Kids craze (but don't hold it against me that I have Cabbage Patch Kids in my collection). Don't quote me on this, but I do believe the Killer Animal genre was very popular in the 1970's. However, after seeing "Kingdom of the Spiders" when I was 8 years old, I am not touching this genre with a 10 foot pole.
My Child-wouldve made for a good "killer doll" movie..probably could have beaten Child's Play to the punch Terror Out Of The Sky-much better killer bee movie than "The Swarm" was IMO

Great to see "Embassy Telecommunications" in better quality, that version is hard to find! All we were stuck was the lower quality of the same logo.
Oooooh cool!
I love the Waitresses’ awesome “Christmas Wrapping” too. So 80s!

Was thinking the exact same thing. Terrifying.
This is the epitome of why I don’t like dolls
That one kid's hair in the CIT ad. What a boy perm!

The doll commercial is creepy. I kept waiting for Freddy Kreuger to popup from underneath.
Johnny Yuma or Annabelle or Chucky ::shudders::
09:04 - it was like they wanted to hire Corey Feldman and Richard Dreyfus but couldn't quite afford it..
Re: King Nissan - Because there IS a "Tower of Pisa" in Niles where his lot was. :) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaning_Tower_of_Niles
Oh wow, check out Andy Borowitz in the Square Pegs credits. His early years.
03:24 - Ray Hara the "king" had a shady and convoluted past. Extortion, embezzlement etc, pretty crazy.
Also, the leaning tower is actually in the park next door. Tricky Jewish businessmensch Mr. Hara just capitalized on the free landmark
TERROR OUT OF THE SKY, aka OH NO, NOT THE BEES!!! NOT THE BEES!!!: THE MOTION PICTURE.
