Thank you Michelle for having me in this podcast and giving me a special opportunity to share my story and much needed life update ✨🙌 You are amazing !!
Fun fact: I started watching UA-cam around 2015 and I stumbled upon Promise's tutorials...and then through Promise, I learned about Michelle. It was a video where she mentions how Steve is Michelle's brother and I went and Google who is this person who she keeps referring to as an inspiration... anyways you are both great and wishing you lots of love and happiness ❤
I am so impressed that Michelle owned her own issues in the relationship with her sister-in-law, especially in a public arena. Super brave to admit that. It’s hard!
I didnt know Promise named her son Kyro. 'Kairos' in greek means "God's appointed time." It is the perfect defining moment when God fulfills His purpose. And now listening to her story, it all makes sense to me now. Kyro came to her and Steve's lives at the exact moment when they truly needed him the most. When Promise was at her lowest point and Steve was struggling with his health. He's truly a miracle son. He's there to bring them hope, strength, and finally able to find joy in life again. 💛
This was such an intimate conversation between not only YT creators but as sister-in-laws. It's great to hear how you both overcame the negativity surrounding you as influencers and rebuilt that bond with each other. BTW, Promise and Steve's story is so cute because they were both shy. Lol. ❤ Awesome podcast.
I always amazed by how powerful this family is !! Promise is such a creative person and Michelle Phan.. 2 power dynamic all at once. Both immigrants beauty creators. At one point I thought they families have such a strong power and loving aura ! love to have her on your podcast !
Gosh I feel like this only scratched the surface of Promise’s stories. Would love to have a part 2 talking about motherhood, health, family, and faith 🤍
I really love how Michelle opened up about the tension between her and Promise at the time due to negative comments, it was really honest and cool of her to admit that because not everyone else would. I love how they were able to get pass / through that and how they were able to get close to each other in recent years. Their vibes seem compatible w each other tbh
I really enjoyed this conversation. I think Michelle and Promise both have very different spiritual beliefs and it was nice how respectful they were of each other when they made spiritual comments
I’m really glad that your life went the way it did. I think our generation of women have went through and, are continuing to go through a time. Where we are all struggling collectively, But the impact that you two have had on those of us who grew up with the internet. Both of you were and continue to be a light for women everywhere with what you do. Therapeutic and the resolve y’all display is inspiring. I hope y’all don’t ever not remember your loved and appreciated and that your place on the internet made things better for the world and make up, make up artists and the industry. Like honestly thank you.
As someone who is having multiple miscarriages, I have a complicated relationship with my faith, but every time I put on my favorite spiritual song Oceans (where feet may fail) and I break down crying every time. Sometimes, we just have to give up our walls and give into our faith. I don't know if I'll get what I want right now out of life, but I'm trying to listen to God on my next plan and redefine what will make me happy.
Whenever I see you two, so many memories are coming back. So nostalgic! You two are my influence and inspiration in makeup. I’m now a Makeup Artist for years.
I really enjoyed this conversation. I'm actually not too familiar with Promise, so I enjoyed learning more about her. And I am glad her faith got her through the difficult times. 🙏🏽❤️
Putting God first in all things brings the joy, peace, confidence, and strength that surpasses all understanding and lasts forever! ☀So thankful you discovered that truth and hold tightly to it now and forevermore 🥰 God bless you both and your families and the individual journeys you're on! You both have hearts of gold and shine bright 🤍🌻🤍
Didnt know about Steve's struggles. I suddenly got single sided hearing loss last year, 2 months before giving birth and i resonate with a lot here! The pushing thru those times for the baby, the negative thoughts, and this "it's not you, it's the enemy talking" its SO helpful to hear. I'm so glad i watches this video. It'll help with my own healing! Thx Promise!! ❤
Omgosh …. I finally finished this video. I had to pause and resume. Promise, I am soooo happy Kyro came into your life. I have been trying for a while now to have a baby & still no success. I hope one day I get to be a mom that I dreamt to be. You do you girl. The subscribers who loves you will understand and be there to support you no matter what. As a long time subscriber to the both of you ladies - I am so happy to see this video so much. 30s is the best year honestly. ❤
I feel like Promise was describing intrusive thoughts and ironic enough, getting back to my faith and relationship with Jesus is what helped me get rid of mine as well. Sending love 🤍
I clicked on this so fast! I loved this entire conversation. So cool to see you both reflecting while also going deep into the reality of yesterday vs today’s as an OG influencer. I relate so much!
I've been watching Michelle and Promise since I was 8 or 9 years old. The Lady Gaga transformation was the most mind blowing thing to me back then. I am just in awe by how artistic you two are, and how you put into action your successes. It's very eye opening to see us all grown and what we're up to now. I was honestly taken back when Michelle mentioned how she would be aggressive/over compensating masculine because I saw it kind of come out of her as she explained it. But I love that she brings up how her family grounds her back into her feminine. To be able to have this conversation and talk about negative/uncomfortable feelings and how you overcome it makes me admire your growth. I used to think podcasts were boring as a kid, but growing up and listening to people you've looked up to as role models talking about real life shit is honestly a game changer for me. Thank you for the insights into your lives! Can't wait to see who else comes onto this podcast. These are great conversations. Keep going!
I’ve always loved Promise. She is an amazing person from the get-go so this was very difficult, but yet inspiring to hear. Promise - you are still my girl!
Faith, family, home and mom life content sounds amazing ❤️ When you’re, ready, I’m here for it, Promise! Remain blessed 🙏🏽 and thank you both for sharing your joy and your stories!
I miss those UA-cam days. To me you'll forever be the ogs of the ogs. Michelle, I've been following you for years and years and I'm so proud of your personal journey. You truly are a pure soul. Promise, I still remember watching your videos and trying to recreate your looks. Can't believe how quick time flies but it's so emotional seeing you both together. ❤
Michelle, thank you for being so honest with us. This is very important for helping women and anyone who needs to hear about mental stability. Also, you both are amazing people. Thank you for sharing your experiences and gift 🙏♥️
This has been by far the best episode yet! You got really vulnerable and real, Michelle, and I soo appreciate that. We all have an ego at some point in our life if we're succeeding in any way so it was really good to relate. Family brings out the realness in us. I love Promise and her love story with Steve! It would be so good to see your brother again in some form too :)
I can fall asleep to michelles voice lol. Promise voice is more of a fun upbeat voice. Its like go to sleep with Michelle's voice and wake up to Promises's voice to be inspired. ❤
this was really refreshing to see. i’ve looked up to you both so much, i even have in my earliest video notes that i wanted my channel to be like yours. creative, calming. it’s so relatable to see your true feelings and what you had to go through for real behind all the beauty stuff. i felt like back then it was hard to put your true feelings out there without the stigma of oh she’s complaining too much. your feelings were valid ❤
Love this interview. Y’all were my two favorite ppl on YT. I didn’t expect the last part of the interview when Promise turned Jesus for help. It’s also what I needed to hear as well.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I sense a certain vibe between them that I can't quite put my finger on. I feel like Michelle still has some sort of feeling toward Promise, like 'you took my best friend/brother away from me,' even though she was the one who wanted to set up her brother. It’s clear that back then she felt superior to Promise, as she wouldn’t join family gatherings because she ‘didn’t have time’ for them. But I think it was more a bit of jealousy that led her to avoid them. Even though some things have been resolved between them, you can still feel the discomfort. I think there’s a lot more that has gone on between them. It still comes across to me as if Michelle is keeping her distance when it comes to Promise and has a wall up around herself. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t like each other as people, but you can see that everyone struggles with certain insecurities and tends to project them onto others. It’s beautiful to see that Michelle can recognize this and realize it’s not right; this also shows maturity and growth.
I felt it too! There is definitely some unresolved feelings there. She talks a lot in the 'i' perspective and interrupts quite a lot. But everyone has their journey.
I was looking for this comment as I thought the same. I also noticed that Michelle talked over the top of Promise quite a few times throughout the interview too, which I didn't think was very nice. And instead of saying "would like to talk about" or "can you tell us about", it was very much "I want you to talk about" 🤔
I'm the eldest child and I relate to always being the nice one or the angel, my sister is the second child and she is the trailblazer like Michelle. Didi is a dietitian nutritionist and trying to help people protect their health and wellness in Trinidad and Tobago. Really proud of these trailblazers.
i watched both of you since i was a little girl, literally promise was my very first makeup artist i ever watched and it just makes me so happy seeing how much you’ve both grown 🥹🥹🥹
Loveee seeing you two! Definitely the OGs I grew up on ❤️ that said, I did not know promise was from Nepal. What a great episode to get to know you guys more intimately.
I love the both of you. Been watching you both for a long time. You ladies are amazing. Don’t stop doing what you love doing because you ladies are inspiring individuals.
Listened to this while working and it was a great episode, thank you for the insightful, transparent and personal sharing of your stories Michelle and Promise 💗
Honest, thank you for opening up to us. You are so humble and it’s clear you love God so much as you always put Him in the centre of your life. You are beautiful
What a great podcast. I just thought it was so amazing to hear promise speak of her time at that CHF not as a hard one but one that appreciated all the people around her and also her time when she had a lot more in life but really struggled with mental health and goes to show you you need more that money to be present and healthy. I also loved Michelle speaking of masculine and feminine roles and the ever changing state we will be in ❤
My fave OG make-up gurus! Thank you for sparking my love for make-up! Love this podcast episode and thanks for sharing the things you go through over the years. Got to know how more beautiful both you have become, not only physically but intrinsically! Love you both!
I love this! I have watched you both from the beginning and saw you both grow! Especially Promise, I love your videos so much and you have always been such an inspiration. I honestly feel like if we ever meet you will be such an amazing friend have! I'm so happy to see you grow to who you are. I can't wait for what you have in store in the future! Will always be your fan and Michelle! My two favorite UA-camrs!
I had no idea there were ever any tensions between Promise and Michelle. I admire how Michelle was able to speak candidly about it. Going through something similar currently and it feels like the knots just get tighter and tighter. Seeing this gives me hope that eventually things will sort themselves out.
I grew up viewing both of u guys videos…i was living alone in my appartment, had zero friends or family to reach… i always felt so good watching ur videos… i was 21 years old
So nice to learn about your experiences with one another and individually behind the scenes. I am a Nepali living in the US and I grew up watching both of your videos. Love to see how far you have come. ❤
I grew up watching you guys in my teenage and college years. Both of you have your uniqueness that you guys brought to the beauty community. You are my OGs and I miss that era. I don’t watch as much beauty video anymore since it’s so different now, I believe the only one I see is Tati. I’m just so glad to see this video and it just brings back so many good memories. Please keep creating even if it’s not on UA-cam. Both of you guys are amazingly talented and I can’t wait to see what you guys do next. ❤❤❤❤
Also it's really cool how when Michelle went away from UA-cam promise did this video sort of bringing her back in and now Michelle is doing the same for promise!
Love you both ❤️ I have watched both of you since a very long time and I really enjoyed this episode , thank you michelle for bringing amazing people to this podcast ❤
Ladies, thumbs up to you both! I've followed you both from the beginning. I followed each of you prior to learning that you both were in the same family. Your talents are greatly admired. Keep up the wonderful work!❤❤
ahh yes! the podcast we all needed to happen, cheers to the first daughter's masculinity era turned to soft empowered energyy.. the destruction and chaos first daughter's had to learn and push through.. def no one preps us but damn.. we're doing a hell of job to fight our fight ❤ love what you do and thank you for being a voice for all of us gals constantly taking care of all of the business that sometimes overshadows the self care we truely need
I grew up watching these two and it’s loved both of them! It’s nice to see promise doing good ❤️ I just have to say, as a Swedish person living in Europe it has dawned on me lately how religious and Christian Americans are. I’m a bit shocked about that 😅
Thank you Michelle for having me in this podcast and giving me a special opportunity to share my story and much needed life update ✨🙌 You are amazing !!
You’re treasured! Thank you for coming on 🤍
OMG I love both you guys so much for the longest time!!
Yes I remember your handle name omg! 😍 A true OG! I didn’t know you married Michelle’s brother 🥰 I love your jacket where can I get one? Lol

I love Michelle and Promise so much
Promise, Michelle, Bubz/Lindy and Weylie were the original beauty and lifestyle people I grew up on❤. This is such a beautiful episode.
Omg it would be awesome to bring in the OG beauty influences like fafinettex3, pursebuzz, enkore etc ❤!
TiffanyD!
And itsjudyslife!
And jaylovesmacxd !
@ oh my goodness yes! I still watch Judy.
I’m glad to see this because I remember when people tried to pit Promise & Michelle against each other when they both did beauty videos.
I am so impressed that Michelle owned her own issues in the relationship with her sister-in-law, especially in a public arena. Super brave to admit that. It’s hard!
So authentic and admirable
and also for Promise to take that in so gracefully 💗
@ totally!
I was surprised, it was very vulnerable
I didnt know Promise named her son Kyro. 'Kairos' in greek means "God's appointed time." It is the perfect defining moment when God fulfills His purpose. Can’t wait for that one episode with Michelle and Dom!
are they still together? wondering about that too!
Yesss they are actually married@@aleadanac8406
@aleadanac8406 No they broke up years ago
@@midnight7361How do you know?
Yeah these two are literally the ogs. I miss this era of UA-cam.
NOW, can we get Dom on the podcast?! Thank you. I LOVE Promise and I've been with you Michelle from the start!
I would love that too! However, if she wants to keep that part of her life private, that's her right and we should respect her wishes.
I think they broke up already 🫤

Love that the division people tried to create didn’t permanently damage y’all’s relationship ❤

I just have to say, as a Swedish person living in Europe it has dawned on me lately how religious and Christian Americans are. I’m a bit shocked about that 😅
No matter what the content is, Michelle’s voice is so soothing
