    • @TwinHomeExperts

      Such a great question! Cast iron gets brittle, it falls apart, so the rats can easily take advantage of the deterioration of the cast iron and chip away at it.

      They don't chew through the iron pipes. The iron pipes are rusted through and a big enough hole is made where the rats can get into the house.

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 7 місяців тому

      Wire mesh is sharp and pointy, old rusty cast iron is soft and crumbly. Also they use a stainless steel welded wire mesh, they can try and chew on it, but their gums will be bleeding...

    TL;DR
    2k sq ft home, rat infestation head to toe for 4 years, AC dead, how much full repairs, removal, cleaning, sealing?
    I know you're thinking "its upon looking". Think of the worst case scenario and then put a price on it. I have to know. The first thing though is to try to change the habits of the inhabitants...If they live like rats, they will have rats.
    I live in a 2 story home and a horrible rat infestation. I have no clue how they are coming in. I watched your videos way back when and actually sealed all the entrances. Captured all the rats. There was no rats for some years. Then during the pandemic multiple stores cut down a large field and the rats ran rampant. Even the older stores had them running rampant. I couldn't do anything because I was low on funds at the time. I told my family to tell me when they see rats. They did not. They are hoarders. So I went to go look in their rooms, I realized the problem was FAR worse than I expected. Now I can't get them to throw away their stuff. It told them "the rats scent is on it it need to be thrown away" They won't do it.
    I am at a dilemma now. 4 years of rats running rampant in a home should I invest into removing the rats and repairing it, or should I move out and leave them to their own devices? I should say when I was away the AC blew out, no doubt the rats were the culprit.
    How much would it cost to remove, repair, seal, sanitize, replace, everything. The neglect of the home was real. I realize they should have never owned one. I need a realistic estimate here.
    AC needs a full replacement probably all the ac ducts as well.
    Wires will probably need to be replaced as well
    Plumbing will probably have to be replaced as well
    It's looking like I might as well move out and get another house. These people I live with are hoarders and neglect things severely. Even if I tell them I'd pay for the whole thing to be cleaned and cleared, they will never change their habits. I told them in 2022 to throw away EVERYTHING, to this day, the same junk they are hoarding fills the house. When I left for some months and came back, it got worse.
    I'll see what they do if I offer them 1000 each to change their habits and toss away all of the junk. I am not stupid, I won't give it all at once. 250 per step. If they do it, I'll think about investing into the home. If they don't I am bailing on them. It's bad to do that to family but sometimes that's just the way it is.
    I've learned a lot from my parents horrible neglect and hoarding.. The house was brand new when we got it. I now know all those times the apartment had problems it was not the apartment it was them. I might only pay for the rat removal, sanitizing and sealing.
    The AC, plumbing, etc. is on them.

    A lot of that wood under their house should be replaced that pipe that you filled with that foam stuff isn't that a clean out that's why the rubber caps on it

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  7 місяців тому +1

      As I showed you in the video that wood is still strong and not brittle. Still has way more structural integrity then the average home that is built today.
      The pipe under the house was an old abandoned drain pipe with a rubber cap, and even if it was a clean out it’s pointless because you can never gain access to run any equipment.

    • @metelgodful
      @metelgodful 7 місяців тому

      Thank you for getting back to me ok I understand but the wood looks so bad maybe it's the camera making it look worse than it is and on the old drain pipe on I was just wondering why they would put a clean out there that's hard to get to but it's a drain pipe so no worries thank again for getting back to me love your videos they rock I think you guys are smarter and do a way better job than any other pest control out there you guys blow them out of the water you guys are professionals the other companies wish they could be like you keep up the good work and keep those videos coming awesome job guys
