Thank u so much mate for taking all the effort and giving us an idea on the idle rpm. Means a lot.. Thank u.. Hope I will be able to set my machine right.. Cheers!!
Very helpful, thank you very much. I got a new throttle body fitted after mine failed, when I refuelled it for the first time I went from E10 fuel back to E5 shell V Power and it wouldn't start at the pump. I eventually managed to get it started, and rode home, but whenever I start it now it cuts out after about 5 seconds and I have to keep the throttle on for a bit to get it running. I checked the TPS sensor and it was at 0.64 which is ok, and I'm now going to warm the bike up and adjust the idle. It idles at around 900 when cold, which doesn't seem right. I've also checked for a blocked or pinched breather tube. The RE dealer did tell me they turned the idle down as it seemed too high. So I think this may be the issue. I'll be removing the EVAP when the bikes out of warranty in March. Still, I love this bike.
Hey mate, indeed a lovely machine. And as you mentioned, 900 RPM is too low, it needs to be adjusted, no matter what RE guys say. Trust me, try the idle adjustment and things will be lot smoother, cheers
@@leuheanrede thanks for your reply. The bike stopped working altogether. They adjusted the idle, turned the tps down to 0.56 and changed the spark plug. Said it was fixed but it was a pain to start and get running. Was running rich and misfiring. MY mechanic said he has adjusted the RPM. When you start it up, it seems fine, but when I am riding and pull the clutch, it will drop down to 800-1000rpm. Go to drive home and pull the clutch, and it is at 1000 rpms and stalling again. We checked the TPS voltage and it is were it needs to be apparently. Everyone is at a loss.
Hey mate, I am guessing valve clearance and spark plug are in spec. Also evap routing is clear and the pipe is not bent or crimped thus restricting flow. Hello there, good evening. I have a qquestion. After starting the motorcycle or even after a enough good warm up the RPM red needle is resting exactly on the number 1 in RPM meter. So is that proper or I need an adjustment? Please suggest.
Hey mate, so you are looking to slow down the RPM on standard 350? A lot of videos have been posted already, plenty of tips and trick, I am not mechanical or professional, that being said, unfortunately, standard doesnt come with tacho(rpm meter) and FI unit also doesnt have an idle adjuster screw as far as i know since as I have never worked on it, still I have seen people do weird things to slow the rpm, I wont mention them as I am not an advocate of those practices. If I ever get my hands on one, i'll surely update you, but till that time I recommend you take it to service center and let them check it with RE diagnostic tool and correct it with that only, cheers
Hey mate, need some additional info if you can help please. First, I am guessing you have a FI BS4 or BS6 model Second, can you pin point the rpm range, like is it at close to 3000 and worse at 2800 rpm Cheers :)
Hey mate :) And yes that puts things in perspective, thanks. Now there is some jerking that I use to feel between 2500 to about 2800 ish rpm. But only very minor, which is there because of lean fueling, unfortunately on an FI we can't tune it as that would require an ECU piggyback like powertronic. Upgrading to iridium plug has made some difference. But it was negligible to begin with. So please do ride another Himalayan and see if its same as on yours. If yours is too abrupt and noticeable then we need to dig deeper. But if same then we need to adapt our throttling to it :D Cheers :)
Checked with other himalayan previously the jerk feels totally different in mine something like when fuel runs out. Ordered iridium plug and a new spark plug cable and in addition with that planning to clean the throttle body also.hope this works🙂
Hey mate, so this tuning was done in Delhi NCR region last year, so plains i mean. And bike have done multiple trips since then on most of the major passes up in the Himalayas and no adjustment was needed at all. So do it in the plains and if you get it right, and bike starts optimally in plains, dont worry about altitude, FI and ECU and all the sensors will take care of heights ;) cheers
What year is your Himalyan? I purchased a 2020 in USA. My rpm is 2,000. It is EFI: dealer just told me there is nothing they can do to lower it. What solution do you offer?
Hey mate, 2000 rpm is a bit excessive, does it stay at 2000 even when the engine is warmed up and has run for a while? if so, need to adjust the idle, 1200 to 1300 is where it should be. Where you live is another factor, like in the mountains or plains or coastal region. Cheers
I fixed the idle issue myself. I found the idle screw and adjusted it. Dealer lied and informed me there was no adjustment screw. Good thing I can think on my own.
A normal engine has higher iddle rpm when cold and goes lower when heating up. A Himalayan seems to do the opposite!? Is this normal? My Himi has 1000rpm from cold and nearly stalls and after hearing up its at 1250rpm. Very strange....
Hi There is a blue connector on left side of the tank towards the seat. Carefully disconnect it and reconnect it properly and also check if there is some corrosion there on the pins. If so clean it connector cleaner and you should be good to go Cheers :)
Give this vid a look ua-cam.com/video/7oxhPYDHwvo/v-deo.html You might have to unmount the two 10 mm bolts and raise the tank slightly to gain access. Dont have to completely remove the tank. Cheers :)
naah mate, nothing needed, just adjust it in plains, but the thing is, you mention yours is BS6, right, so Good news, BS6 variant, (the one with TRIP feature) doesnot have this throttle body, and has a new design, and I am not sure if that has is screw for adjustment to be honest, Cheers
Thanks bro. Accent is a problem I agree. I have worked for different clients over 15 years now from New Zealand to Australia to US to UK. To be honest even i don't know what I should sound like anymore, I think what comes out of my mouth is a horrible mix of all accents. Its too late to change I believe and my apologies for that🥺
Hahaha. Getting parts is an issue certainly. I only visit service center to buy parts and order them. Takes time but I stock up. But its a very simple bike to maintain so from day one servicing at home and sharing vids on that to make it simple for fellow riders too. Maintenance cost has been just normal wear and tear parts replacement and oils etc. 20000 kms and 2 year of riding through toughest terrains, has been a pleasure with no major issues to be honest. To each his own. Have a good one. Cheers
@@jobjohnshorts hahaha. I have this habit of buying spares in advance, the ones that fall under normal wear and tear category. Not only for himalayan but other bikes aswell. I have a list of inventory. Every thing from piston kit to crank valves to brake pads sprokets to small orings, washers. Stocking up varies on seeing in advance what might be needed in near future depending on how many kms the bike has done and keeping a close eye on wearable parts And trust me even getting spares for my ktm are an issue or the rest of the bajaj bikes too. Even yamaha also has part problems so I stock up for those too. And as soon as I use one part I put it on the list and book it at svc if they don't have and collect when it arrives for next t But if you have already made your mind that himalayan is not worth it I won't try and convince you otherwise. I personally would buy another one if I had the money. As I said to each his own. Cheers 😉

Very strange....
hi bro my fuel gauge always stops working after getting it serviced
it usually stops working after 2 -3 days. Please help me bro.
Hi
There is a blue connector on left side of the tank towards the seat. Carefully disconnect it and reconnect it properly and also check if there is some corrosion there on the pins. If so clean it connector cleaner and you should be good to go
Cheers :)
@@leuheanrede bro couldn't find it?😔
Give this vid a look

You might have to unmount the two 10 mm bolts and raise the tank slightly to gain access. Dont have to completely remove the tank. Cheers :)
@@leuheanrede ok bro 😊
@@leuheanrede thanks bro it worked 🙌🙌🙌
Bro my himalayan's odometer is not working. It happened after riding in a rainy day. Can you please suggest any idea?
THANK U VERY MUCH
Thanks mate, happy DIYing, cheers :)
Is this setting applicable on bs6 variant?
Hey mate yes it would. Cheers:)
Good 👍
Thanks mate, cheers :)
Super!
Thanks mate. And how did it go with the recall regarding brakes.

Work 493 rpm low ?
Hey mate, sorry I didnt get the question.
👌
Thanks bro :)
Mine is at 1150 🙄 , will give a try today
Hey mate, does it stay at 1150 after warming up and riding too.
@@leuheanrede hey bro, was wee busy with work. Yes, even after the bike gets hot it's at 1100. Sometimes at 1150. At start it's between 1000 and 1100
Sorry, idle rpm need to change due to low oxygen concentration
naah mate, nothing needed, just adjust it in plains, but the thing is, you mention yours is BS6, right, so Good news, BS6 variant, (the one with TRIP feature) doesnot have this throttle body, and has a new design, and I am not sure if that has is screw for adjustment to be honest, Cheers
Bro superb knowledge, but why fake accent🤔
Thanks bro. Accent is a problem I agree. I have worked for different clients over 15 years now from New Zealand to Australia to US to UK. To be honest even i don't know what I should sound like anymore, I think what comes out of my mouth is a horrible mix of all accents. Its too late to change I believe and my apologies for that🥺
@@leuheanrede 😂😂😂ah, I can understand now, no need to be apologetic about that. Thanks for replying. Keep making awesome content
Dear frienda dont buy himalayan bike buy other company very bad service and parts not availabe . and low safety and high maintenance.
Cheers
@@leuheanrede if parts not getting on time. What is the best service then broo
Stocking up varies on seeing in advance what might be needed in near future depending on how many kms the bike has done and keeping a close eye on wearable parts
And trust me even getting spares for my ktm are an issue or the rest of the bajaj bikes too. Even yamaha also has part problems so I stock up for those too. And as soon as I use one part I put it on the list and book it at svc if they don't have and collect when it arrives for next t
But if you have already made your mind that himalayan is not worth it I won't try and convince you otherwise.
I personally would buy another one if I had the money. As I said to each his own. Cheers 😉
This is very helpful for me. Thank you @leuheanrede bro
Glad to be of assistance mate, pleasure is all mine. Thank you 😊
Thank you. Very useful indeed!
Thanks again another informative video.
My pleasure mate Cheers :)
Hey..I am having himalayan..which is BS6 model..I am unable to start my vehicle..one thing I observed that Fi noice use to come from the tank when I turn on the engine..now the sound is not coming from the tank when I turn on the engine. Do you have any idea why it's happening ?
Seeing this a bit late mate, is all working now, first check for Fuel pump connector, then fuse under seat, then side stand switch, last fi relay,
@@leuheanrede yeah it's working fine now, I just reconnected Fi relay..it's working fine
