Seriously though, this is possibly the most hype Ive gotten off a trailer, the presentation, the music, the SHEER ATMOSPHERE in a RETRO style game, the chase scene, the sheer WEIGHT of the combat. Im looking forward to it
This is the kind of shit we need more of. Current tech could do AMAZING things with 2d that devs in the 90s could only dream of. Having a million things happening on screen, effects, super smooth animation, and so much more. Yeah AAA are nice but I'd love more of this style of game. I guess the market just isn't wanting it enough...
The only reason why a videogame like this is acceptable in my opinion is when the resources are very limited, otherwise it's hipsterism. Videogames with a narrative element (and others) are NOT games, they're more.
If you don't use the tools and the techniques available to you for the sake of it you're a hipster. Look at Nintendo. They use the sorry excuse of "artstyle" (as if they were Picasso) to release technical inferior products and they market it to their fanbase so well that they eat it up nonetheless. Videogames with a narrative are MUCH more than just gameplay, they're not games, like cards or pong.
I recognize this is a trailer, so some of scenes may be purely cinematic, but if the gameplay requires the player to accomplish feats like the timing of jumping on the rope-swing near the end of the trailer, I would be supremely impressed. Solid trailer, I get more and more hyped every time I rewatch it.
They really do need to optimize Starbound, I recently got it and the lag and screen tearing was unbearable, no other game on my pc runs so bad it's as unplayable as this.
Honestly I think the people that do realize don't care, It looks like a brilliant game and even if its only published by chucklefish it still has their seal of approval which is a pretty good considering the quality of their games/published games.
I think this is a very common mistake so many people still make today. I think it might be somewhat confusing these days since some games are self published so the publisher and developer are one in the same.
I'm astonished by just how beautiful this game is, jesus christ!! For a pixelated game, the animation is stunning, and the atmospheres are absolutely gorgeous. That, and the designs of the monsters mixed with that pixelated simplicity is giving me a whole new horror vibe! I can't wait for this to be released! I'll be waiting for 2019 :D
Hopefully they’ll focus on the story and artwork... as long as the gameplay isn’t terrible they could almost ride to success on those two factors alone.
I mean, the combat already has more animation and fluidity than Breath of the Wild so I think it will be fine in the gameplay department. From the looks of it, the three different characters have three different play styles going on which leaves for a nice pace to play the game at.
@@michaelandrews117 ok, ok, I get that you're hyped and all but to say that its better than BotW just from an announcement trailer well thats a big stretch don't you think?
@@IasIow I'm not even saying it will be better overall. But from a literal, objective viewpoint, the attack animations are more fluid due to the fact they take up more frames and there are more animations for the weapons too than in Breath of the Wild (as opposed to just left, right or charged attack). I wasn't saying it would be better than the game, I'm saying that the combat already looks more fluid in this little indie project than in a multi-million yen game; the combat and gameplay being the thing people are expressing their concern about stating "The story and atmosphere look great I just hope that the gameplay is solid." Also, Breath of the Wild has a tonne of issues and I certainly don't rate it as this Messiah of gaming others do. Not to say it isn't good (it is) but for me it was nothing more than an 8/10. Solid but nothing special.
+Michael Andrews for a game that utilizes pixel art, especially with such small sprites. the level of fluidity they've managed to pull off is quite impressive. although in all honesty i would have to disagree with your first statements. A pixel art game with such small sprites can not and i doubt ever will be able to be as fluid as a game 3d model especially something like Botw. are Botw's attack animations boring? for sure, i personally found them lacking for a game with such a high budget. but are its attack animations less fluid then this game? no. having 3 dimensions allow for much more freedom when it comes to animation. and with pixel art forcing people to conform to 2 dimensions and a low resolution. although this problem has been someone solved by the use of exaggeration and the low resolution can sometimes be a good or a bad thing. also could you define what you mean by "animations for the weapons" because from what im reading it seems that you're not implying the animations for the weapons but rather the variety of attacks, as you said: "as opposed to just left, right or charged attack) could you elaborate? if what you're really talking about here is the variety of attacks here then i would have to agree with you. though i cant really understand what you mean by animations for the weapons,
Apparently, this game will never be released. :) The developer said that he did not know the release date on PC and other platforms. And then he closed the comments in his group on the social network so that no one else would ask him about anything. I really wanted to play this, but apparently, waiting is a waste of my time.
