⏩ Video Question: Do you have a favorite track on the new album??
The Telegram Replies are a SCAM. That is not me or any UA-camr. Don't interact with them
For live content catch me on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
This one without a doubt, other than Playing God.
Besides ego death and playing god I think bloodbath is a solid third place incredible polyphia style metal with Chino Moreno was a blessing to my ears
The first 2 they released and then this.
The visualization guy for this album must be an avid DMT user.
Playing God, definitely. But Neurotica and Ego Death are great too. Can't say which one's better. Other than those... Chimera, definitely. It's just a great song.
Both Clays absolutely killed it on this track, it's insane..
both Clays and Luke Holland collaborated on this ! i don't know which is which! fckin insane this legendary band is!
The rhythm section under that synth solo is mint
Those drum fills during the key/drum solo are fcking insane. Isn't this Polyphia's filthiest drum section ever?
It's kind of God like
The communication between the bass and kit is absurd. So good. It’s practically telekinesis
Collab of the year.
Anomalie always on point with his craft
dude, when I saw anomalie I legitimately thought "It can't be *that* anomalie, right?"
It was, and they fucking killed it.
@@chimkim That and then losing my shit to seeing Chino Moreno from god damn Deftones on the tracklist
Hard to realistically put this feature above Chino going off and Steve Vai giving the full cosign and solo of the year.
I do appreciate the way you analyze music by rewinding every segment. I also love the frequency you've been pumping videos. Keep it up
Thanks 😄
Polyphia do such a great job of when they have a feature, they write a song that sounds like something their feature would write turned into a Polyphia song. This album and the New Levels New Devils album do a great job demonstrating that.
No. This song sounds absolutely nothing like what they were doing in New Levels. They're basically a completely different sounding band since then in a bad way.
@@derpderpin1568 what are you on lol
@@derpderpin1568 I don't get you people, if it's the same you would complain how same it is to previous stuff, but if they evolve you complain it doesn't sound the same. What?
@@derpderpin1568 they weren't saying that this song sounds like NLND they were talking specifically about the way Polyphia goes about arranging their features, an aspect that I agree this song does do similarly. Also 'in a bad way' lol someone's salty
@@derpderpin1568 get off this comment section
As soon as I heard this song, I wanted to hear you reaction. The Clays absolutely kill this track. That snare roll blew my mind when I found it.
You and me brother. The drums and fills during the solo are freaking insane, and so clean in rhythm and volume it sounds like midi drums. Those rolls dude.. Blew me away
There is so much range on this album excited to see your reaction to the rest of it.❤
As a bass player, I love this track and ABC a lot because Bass Clay gets a chance to shine a little more, whereas you know he holds back in a lot of places because he always knows when it's good to hang back and keep the rhythm going and when to go just as hard as the guitars. That ghost note section kills me every time, man. That shit is Claymania right there.
It seems like they did at least two tracks that highlight each players strengths specifically, which I love.
I saw them live a couple months ago and said to somebody else in line that this is probably the last time we will see them live before they blow up. I think artists are going to be lining up to do a track with them. After listening to this new album ABC made more sense to me. When they feature a musician they don't squeeze them into whatever they are playing. They truly collaborate and play to their guest. So in the case of ABC they played straight up cute pop music.
Audacity and reverie are prob my 2 favorites from the non-singles
Anomalie was formely known as the keyboardist for Grammatik, but he started doing his own thing around 2016/17 if I remember correctly. He has changed quite a bit since the his project's inception, but in recent years french romantic jazz has seeped in to most of his songs.
If you decide to give some of his music a listen you should consider his debut single "Odyssée". It has a performance video and it is an absolute clusterfck of a song.
Otherwise, his song 'Crescent' also has a great performance video, and is more in tune with his current style of music :). Cheers!
Wait he was the keyboardist for gramatik??
No wonder I love this guy.
Anomalie deserves so much recognition
Unsure if anyone else mentioned this before, but Clay worked with Luke Holland on 6 songs off this album, where Luke created the original parts and clay augmented them slightly with extra fills and such.
Incredible duo!
Of all the songs on the album, this song has the most distinct Luke Holland feel to the drumming. It just works so fucking well
"There's like 17 pancakes but it looks like one pancake." This couldn't be more true lmao
😅😅😅
Don't be confused 😅
Anomalie could be heard on almost every one of our uni parties (mostly jazz students) and his Metropole totally slaps
Listened to the album last night and this was the one song I absolutely needed you to check out. So happy you did this so fast!!
This is legit peak musician. Like I dont really have to have music knowledge to recognise this god level of playing music. Like this legit feels like alien music(in a good way). Just pure insanity. My mind blows away every time I listen to it
the album has so many different genres (Jazz, Flamenco, Shoegaze, Math Rock, Hip Hop, Metal, and more) but still remains uniquely polyphia
this song is amazing!! thank you Tony for your reaction videos.
Always love your reactions bro! Keep up the great work!
I would give my left kidney to see them A Cappella this track!
Love the way you react. It’s informative and actually not annoying
Finding out a Canadian worked on this track makes it all the more better, let's go
It's like they have a machine that they put genres into, and it grinds them up, distills the mixture, and spits out purified mixed-genre essence.
Bruh the level of unison they do in parts where everybody plays (notably anomaly, tim and scott) is way too crazy not to note. This album's skill and creativity levels are HIGH and this is definitely one of my favorites. I absolutely loved Genesis as an opener as well and that Chino Moreno track brought me memories I thought I've already forgotten.
I love this reaction. This is amazing, thank you
I love both artists this is one of the best songs on the album. It will probably never happen but I would love to hear a full collab album or even just an EP between them
super prog fusion jazz. Proving they can do it all.
After I did my first album listen through, this track was the first one I came back to when I was finished. This may be my favorite track from the album. It’s pretty amusing that ABC is nearly smack dab in the middle to lighten things up
I really enjoyed your reactions man, especially on how you explains it musically. Still waiting for you to react on mixed nuts and racing into the night.
I think this is my favourite track from the new album...every aspect of this is outstanding and ever so slightly different to other Polyphia sounds...GREAT! Cheers for the review Tony :)
Yes!!! That was fast. I was on twitch last night asking if you were going to be reacting to it, that was the quickest response I’ve ever seen 😊
I respect that you asked very nicely 🤟
This is my fave song off the new album. I wish they did more of this type of stuff
I feel like this song is extremely underrated. I didn't like it the first time I heard it, but once I heard it a few more times and started really picking out the nuances, it really grew on me and is possibly one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. (This also seems to reiterate your point about not really hearing everything in a song just listening to it from start to finish first).
this track reminds me of Shobaleader One, IDM/Breakbeat artist Squarepusher's live Jazz Fusion band.
if this is your thing, check out their live versions of Squarepusher's Theme and Cooper's World.
the chops to play Breakbeat drums on a set are just unreal.
favorite track outside of the singles is Bloodbath with Chino.
That's very much my thing
I hadn't had the opportunity to spin the new album until just a few minutes ago while driving to go get food and this one broke my brain. Windows down, max volume and I was just grunting and gasping in absolute disbelief, practically broke my brain 😂
Came back because this is a great one to introduce certain people to the channel. Something occurred to me. Where other reactors will sit and scratch their heads over something...at length...on camera. You just say "yeah we aren't getting into that right now" and move on. That's the pro move for sure.
Reverie is definitely my favorite off the album. Absolutely filthy
Strong square pusher/shobaleader one vibes on this. So great
"You can't take this in in one listen, it doesn't work that way"
No kidding, I listened to this song for 2 days straight when it came out.
I had the same reaction my first listen. So much going on!
He actually did it. You are the man.
The drums during the key solo are insane. Clay 2 🔥
That slap bass is so fucking tasty bro
Fucking hell this might be my new favourite polyphia song. Fusion polyphia is crazy.
most underrated track on the album. this track goes absolutely fucking insane
that track is fucking insane. As much as I love Playing God, The Audacity is just incredible
I’ve known anomalie before but MAN you should react to his stuff seriously
The first time I heard this song I was like what the shit is this?! Lmao I had rewind it and let it go. I really enjoy this song.
The Audacity is one my favorites on the album for sure.
Thanks for the informative analysis! Any thoughts on their counterpoint between voices?
I had to listen again today. It's pretty busy in there. Definitely good writing. I need many more listens
I think for this type of complicated and layer dense music, rewinding a listening again and again is nearly essential. I like this type of video more because it's more of an analysis than a reaction. It's what brings me back to channels like yours. I think the only reactor I'm subbed to that doesn't do the pause, rewind, and analyze bit is Critical Reactions. That dude is really smart though.
The reactors that bother me are the ones that pause without rewinding. It's sort of disrespectful, I feel, I just skip over them.
This might be... my favorite reaction from you. So far.
So I'm not sure why people find this track interesting. It's a basic jazz-rockhop 563/181 time signature that alternated between e-sharp and z-flat minor.
Z sharp actually with a modulation to L major after the V of V sequence
Man, whole bunch of Clay’s (Polyphia’s drummer) play throughs on Meinl’s channel to react to still 😅 Hope to see em soon!
If you wanna hear some of Anomalie's keyboard wizardry, check out Velours and Crescent to get a good idea. Honestly this song is a good intro, it's as much his style as it is Polyphia's
I happened to find Anomlie a couple weeks before this album released. I actually didn’t realize until watching this video who it was.
Looking forward to the full hour long album react video (please)
Literal eargasms
5:09 my exact reaction
I'm sitting here with my youngest son and explaining to him how to LISTEN to music, he loves polyphia since I play the sh#t everyday.lol..he said dad.you listen to music just like this guy....respect
That is cool that you are explaining HOW to listen to him. Good stuff
You should definitely react to some Anomalie stuff...all of his songs are fire!!!!
Masterpiece
Only fairly recently found this band...this piece brings Jean - Luc Ponty's work to mind more than Chic Corea or Herbie Hancock but then, some sounds do sound like Hancock. Ponty's "Enigmatic Ocean" would be a comparison even if it is not as busy.
might sound like a stupid thing to say but this feels like the most technical song on the album. maybe not the most difficult (damn close though) but the mix between the thumping on guitar, the drum fills, the slap bass and the keyboard runs, definitely the most technical imo
I recommend you to watch «Non-breath Oblige» (it's got a goat-like boy on the preview) from miy_yuu (miyashita yuu). This guy's got insane voice and I'm still shocked why no anime studio hasn't hired him to do an opening for a show yet
Also, if you're gonna be looking forward to watch some of his other videos, I definitely recommend Vozvald and Kilmer
It sounds like mega man 8 music (Frost Man's Stage, Grenade Man's Stage).
Hail bro!!!! I met your channel through the react of 2020/2021 in a song, and I really liked the content and saw several Brazilians who loved it too! Please our community of artists has a GEEK music scene about anime, and the ENYGMA channel has several songs about characters and that has a musicality at the national level! Reacts to his music ( Nameless King | Meruem (Hunter X Hunter) | Enygma )
Can I suggest you to watch a few songs from Ado ?
She's pretty popular and have made some songs for some anime like One Piece lately, i'd be interested in watching you reacts to song such as "Tot Musica" for exemple, she have a very unique voice.
Its definitely a different sound from them.
Chimera is another good track from the new album.
Bro you have to check out El Estepario Siberiano. A crazy drummer from Spain that’s just sick!!
Whole album reaction?
the ghost notes are from guitar, its an 8 string
Check out Reverie also from this album.
You should check out reverie there’s an incredible bass solo in the middle
Hey man. In the UK and HUGE Seahawks fan. Me and a pal are coming to Seattle to catch 2 Seahawks games in December for the first time. Recommendations for places to eat and drink?
That's awesome. For right next to the stadium check out Elysian Fields. After the game check out Temple. If you are in Seattle for games you will need to eat at Tacos Chukis at some point. They have 4 locations. Say hello when you see the drumline 🥁
@@DrumRollTonyReacts incredible. Thanks man I appreciate it! We are on the halfway line for the Panthers game and in the Hawks Nest for 49ers. I’ll keep a look out!
Ego Death has to still be my favorite track but it is almost so epic that I feel like I should exclude it from this response like a statistical outlier. I'm going with Fuck Around and Find Out.
I have been watching your vids so long, can you please do Fire Force ending 1- Veil, and maybe Mob Psycho OP 3? You’re analyzations are so in depth, I can’t stop watching!!
NEED FULL ALBUM REACTION TONY PLS
If I am not wrong in 5:30 min guitarists are also thumping with ghost notes.
tim will not give rest
There like 17 pancakes but it looks like 1 pancake 😂
i think the animated thing on screen is tims neck tattoo
Anomalie / Montréal 🙌
Check out POV Reverie by Tim Henson
Hey man; please react to like literally every other song on Polyphia's new album - Remember That You Will Die! They are all simply incredible. One of my other favorites is Chimera; it's literally insane.
What happened to you wanting to do another Blind Guardian one? Still waiting! :D ;)
Please do Bloodbath!! :)
Reminds me a lot of some of Squarepusher's jazzier stuff
yes! huge Shobaleader One vibes. i'm here for it.
If you starred getting into anime music, you should check out some Eurobeat songs, from Initial D!
I don't know that you heard that genre befor, but im curious to your opinion on it.
Idk if you take video game recommendations or not, but would you be willing to look at “Endless Possibilities” from Sonic Unleashed?
Bleach OSTs to react to:
On the Precipice of Defeat
Battle Ignition
Creeping Shadows
BL_93
Heat of the battle
Enemy unseen
Storm center
Head in the clouds
Soundscape to Ardor
Nothing can be explained
Here to stay
Nice reaction Tony. But can you please do Ants of the Sky by Between the Buried and Me please?
Ummm Dam!
4 Words...
Meganeko "Cybergrind" from ULTRAKILL...
this track reminds me of Squarepusher
Don’t know if you’ve reacted to any of the monster hunter music but if you want something new react to “Valstrax theme” or “Zinogre Mount theme”
Also, my notifications have been packed with those telegram replies from every channel I follow. I really wish they would do something about this. It can't be that hard to suppress the bots.
You probably have already checked Jacob Collier before but would be nice to watch you react to him.
How to compose a Polyphia theme, forgetting that they exist the whole and half notes.
Day 6 of asking Tony to react to "Racing Into the Night" by YOASOBI.
+1
