- EMERGENCY cancer surgery | Colostomy bag at 29!?
Malin & Tom
The unexpected happened. Malin was taken in for an emergency operation due to major problems caused by her colorectal cancer.
For around a week, Malin was in extreme pain and discomfort due to issues caused by her aggressive colon cancer, her large intestine essentially stopped working and she began to experience severe bloating. After some scans, they determined the issue - her colorectal cancer had caused her large intestine to become twisted and blocked, and they decided that they needed to take her in to the hospital and operate on her.
So she was taken to a different hospital in an ambulance, where they investigated the colon tumour as well as the intestinal blockage, and shortly after she was having emergency cancer surgery.
Malin was diagnosed with aggressive colorectal cancer in October 2022, and has since been fighting the long battle towards kicking the cancer out of her body. She has had a full cycle of radiation therapy, 4 rounds of chemotherapy, and she has a major operation scheduled to remove the tumour causing her colon cancer. But this surgery was far from scheduled.

We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

Sending you my best wishes. I had a temporary ileostomy. following removal of all of my large intestine for cancer in 2009, I had a J-pouch constricted internally so I could have my stoma put back.
I then had an unrelated cervical cancer diagnosis just after my 5 year post colon cancer marker . Had radical hysterectomy, removal of ovaries etc followed by chemo and radiation. You can only take each day at a time, cherish the better days and grit your teeth through the worse days until you come out the other side- which I pray you will x
I’m 7 years post cervical cancer now but do worry about achieving the trifecta and getting another cancer 😫
I totally understand where you are coming from...I had cervical cancer surgery 3 years ago and had a radical hysterectomy and at the same time while having my biopsy on my cervix she asked if I wanted a uterine biopsy because of symptoms I had and she ended up finding endometrial cancer stage 1 also....so when you end up with 2 different cancers you do question is there going to be a third. Wishing you and Malin good health and a cancer free future.
I consider myself a strong man but only hope I can be as strong as Malin if this ever happens to me. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I went to look up the name Malin because I was thinking how pretty it was and found out in english it means "little strong warrior" and thought how fitting for your current circumstances. Sending you all the best and thank you for sharing such a tough journey with us.
Shirley here, my mom had the bag she had colon cancer, she had it reversed in 9 months. It was major surgery. For weeks she felt like she had to go to the bathroom all the time finally that subsided.
I think about your journey, often, Malin. I wish you the best, am sending positive vibes your way, and offering up prayer for you.
Bless you Malin. Tom it is a good video. I am sure like me we are concerned for you all. I am praying for you🙏❤️

You mentioned her getting her ureters removed during her upcoming surgery. Is Malin getting a pelvic exenteration? If so I hope you're aware of Tiffany Thinks on UA-cam? She had hers 3 months ago and is doing amazingly well. It's a big deal, but there is life afterwards.

God bless you two..you guys are the sweetest ❤prayers
Living with a stoma is a life changer for sure, but it’s easy to become accustomed to. I’ve had my ileostomy for 13 months now and she saved my life. It’s second nature to me now after a good learning curve with her. Positive thoughts to you and accepting your Ostomy in a positive way will help you mentally adjust love. Chin up. ❤ (my ostomy surgery was 22/03/22)
I also had an illiostomy for a few months due to severe UC and bowel being punctured during colonoscopy. They removed my large intestine, and when I woke up I had an NG tube, drains out my sides, IV’s going. How does she look like she just had some routine surgery with no downtime?! It’s impressive. I looked way worse than her!
Sending you both love and best wishes for a speedy recovery, from London.❤
❤ wishing u a speedy recovery
"it is what it is" - I can relate to saying that so much about my own situation over the last couple of years that it seems to have lost all meaning!
Again appreciate the update. Hope all continues to go well.
You will be fine Malin, all love och kärlek, blev ytterst berörd, touched by your history, du har en fantastisk, just an amazing man, vid din sida, by your side. Med all kärlek and love for vad what u are going, går igenom. Till er båda, both, min kärlek till er, my love to both of you.
I am in the hospital right now recovering from an illisotomy. It's been a journey. Hang in there guys!! Ohhh, I named my stoma Fountain ⛲ 😊
Glad the surgery went well. It’s been quite the journey. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Malin you, are so strong and brave!
Thank you 🧡

Good luck guys sending love and prayers 🥂❤️
Tanks hope you all the best!💐🌹✨❤
My husband has had an ilieostomy 15 years ago at the age of 38 and it saved his life. His surgeon strongly recommended to not get the reversal it's not worth it.
They’ve done the same with me now, they strongly recommend me to not get the reversal so I’ve decided not to. More information about this in the next video. It’s nice to hear from someone who’s been through it and also can say that I’m making the right decision!
All the best n god bless 🙏
Oh Malin so glad surgery has gone well even though it was an unexpected hiccup.
Tom thank you for the update you are doing a great supporting role!
Love and hugs to you both from UK 💞💖xx
❤❤Happy it went well!
Positive vibes always xx
Hi guys, thanks so, so much for sharing this with us!!!!. I am so happy this surgery at least went really well, that's really great news!. I know Malin wanted to enjoy a few weeks after quimo before the big surgery... and Malin, you will. This will be all over pretty soon and you will enjoy your kids, the van and your amazing husband. I know it feels now like far away but in a few months you will see things very differently. How are you dealing with the bag? I can imagine it has to be quite hard when you first face it, am I right????
We are all here, thinking of you both and looking forward to the next video....
god love you both 🥰🙏🏻
Take good care 💐💐🌷🌷🌸🌸xx
you ever heard of Sea Cucumber? I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last year in November and since my discharged, my mom has been serving me Sea Cucumber soup which is a type of marine animal came from East Asia. It is to believe that it has medical properties for fighting cancer cells that the Chinese often eats. It's pretty pricey and expensive though but it's worth a try.
Watch Laura- Jean Bainbridge incredible colostomy support. Sending love and prayers xxxx
So proud, you’re doing amazingly well. Your bowel will be nicely rested for your next op. I’m quite jealous, I spent a week on soup, disgusting jelly and horrid hospital icecream only after my op….
Hi, you such a cute couple. I hope the very best for you going through surgery.
Sending u loadssssssss of LOVE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had one for 4 months, and then good as new. It's a bit of a shock at first. But you will be ok. Get well soon.
Mine is permanent though. But that’s nice that you have such a good experience of yours.
, the colostomy will be permanent? I thought it's temporary. Anyway, as someone who had a colostomy bag for 5 months and an ileostomy bag for 11 months (due to colorectal cancer), I have to tell you that it was way much easier with the bag than the situation after the reversal surgery. Take care of you!
Yeah I realised that we say it’s temporary in the video but the information that we got after this was recorded is that it’ll be a permanent one. Thank you for the support. I hope that you’ve recovered and feeling good now after your surgeries! 🌞
@@malinandtom, after the reversal surgery performer almost 2 years ago the things havent gone any better but I got used to the new reality. As you say, it is what it is. During the last 2 years there where many times when I whished to have my colostomy bag.
Hope your wife feels better soon
I don't know about the UK but in the US a lot of insurance Co. didn't want to pay for the bags and supplies and it wasn't cheap.
They are in Sweden.
@@ilonaniinemae4735 I forgot. There's a lot of you tubers I follow from the UK.
@@bobs1356 all stoma supplies are free in the UK. From the moment of surgery your stoma nurse registers you with a supply company and you just place your order every month and they deliver to your door for free.

Your page came across my UA-cam. Healing vibes from Massachusetts. Lovely young woman your age on a very similar journey.. @tiffanythinks Tiffany just turned 30, had colorectal cancer. Had a massive surgery mid December. She’s in the UK. Might be a good source of info. Tiffany is a love. All my best. 💙💙💙
