Had mine from new since 2005, it’s done touring, track days (including the ring) B road blasts etc. Never let me down, has carbon everywhere including dymags and Akra exhausts and custom ECU reflash, going in the grave with me!
Nice footage, really.... I own a 2006 990 SD, bought it 2nd hand 4 months ago with very low mileage (12.000 km), gives me a smile on every ride & has more power & torque that I can manage sometimes !!! And for twisty mountain roads, it's THE ultimate weapon !!! 😈 Ride safe. ✌️
I have a 990 R and while it is one of the most fun bikes I've ever owned, the last word I'd use to describe it is reliable. With that said, I'd still consider the new 1290 or even 790 to replace my 990.
I've owned my 990 for going on 4 years now and it is the best bike I've owned. I really want to upgrade to the 1290 but it's hard to justify the extra money for essentially the same bike. Best bang for buck bike around imo.
I miss mine a lot! I had wanted to find a rear sprocket with one less tooth to help stretch its legs a bit more on the highways, but never could. Have fun out there and be safe!
Kevin Solong IT has abs but obviously no traction control, but to be honest I prefer it with no tc, it’s fun and that’s how it’s suppose to be. It will definitely make you learn throttle control that’s for sure, but something can be said for how much fun it is when you can control those power slides out of corners.
I recently bought a 2007 SuperDuke 990 and I am in love. This is the 21st bike I've owned and it already tops the list. I took 6 years off from riding and decided a 990 would be the perfect size bike to reintroduce me to the road. I figured I'd upgrade a year or so down the road, but after riding this machine, I think I'll just hang on to it. Absolutely love it.
Yall are blessed with a beautiful area to ride locally. Great video. Excellent editing and use of a drone and multiple camera angles . very professional
hey kid, the super duke rolled out in 2005 because 2007 was already the first evolution step. don’t forget there also was a 2005-2006 cup edition, the first step before the first R was born in 2007.
Really good video guys, beautiful area to ride in. I have a KTM Super Duke 990 that I absolutely love. Try a set of Dunlop Q3's next set of tires, I am on my second set of them and this bikes is on rails. They last pretty good and stick like glue.
You are 100% correct. I didn't mean for the narration to say that the 2008 was the first, I had hoped for it to be more of a general introduction to the 2008, but that is definitely not what it sounds like. Thanks for keeping me accurate there!
hey man how is service? servicing those bikes expensive being from austria? parts hard to get? parts take a long time to get, since they come from austria? thinking about getting a 990 so im just trying to get information. thank you.
I guess it would depend on the closest KTM shop to you! We have an awesome shop only about 30miles away, so for the big projects that I couldn't do it was easy and really reasonably priced to take it there. Stock parts seem to cost about the same between Austria and Japan; I feel like it's a big myth that Austrian parts cost more than Japanese ones (obviously there are some exceptions). I wouldn't worry about it man! As long as the bike you're looking at hasn't been thrashed it should last a plenty long time! That same engine has competed in the Dakar and other rallies all over the globe, rock solid!
Honestly I've never had the pleasure of riding either of them, but i would personally rather ride either of them than the 1290 on our canyon roads! From what I know they're both incredible machines and I hope I get the chance to ride then!
I was going to trade my 990 for a 790. The 790 felt like a smaller, lighter version of the 990. I was actually surprised with its bottom and mid power, and that was stock, stock a filter and exhaust and it would be quite impressive. I didn’t go ahead with the trade though as the price I was offered for my 990 don’t meet my expectations so....
Ive ridden both, and own a 2008 990 SDR...the 790/890r both handle MUCH better than the 990... theyre considerably lighter, and the 890r didnt feel much slower... i was amazed how smooth the engine and acceleration was with the 890r.... ill wait a couple years for the price to drop on the 2020 models and get an 890r for sure.
Have you ever taken the 990 for a long trip maybe 1000+ miles? I’m in the process of buying one 2007 990 with 56 miles lol I guess the guys a collector and doesn’t ride his bikes much
As far as reliability goes you'll be solid as a rock! As far as ergonomics go the bike is very comparable to a supermoto or other naked sport bikes- it's actually really comfortable! Sounds like an awesome adventure though, where are you planning to ride??
I think this is a great video, I had a 990 in 2006 a 1290 for a year a couple of years ago and now a 990 r . I decided I don’t want the electronics 😀
Had mine from new since 2005, it’s done touring, track days (including the ring) B road blasts etc. Never let me down, has carbon everywhere including dymags and Akra exhausts and custom ECU reflash, going in the grave with me!
I've had all sorts of bikes Kawasaki, Suzuki a couple of speed triple 955 and 1050 and have had a 1290 for a couple of years absolutely love my 1290
Excellent editing, really like it. .... and useful stats, like rider length!!! ....not everybody is 5'8...

You too friend! Godspeed on your SD!
How does it feel without some of the safety controls
I have a 990 R and while it is one of the most fun bikes I've ever owned, the last word I'd use to describe it is reliable. With that said, I'd still consider the new 1290 or even 790 to replace my 990.
Sad your 990 has been unreliable! Mine has been solid. What has gone wrong on it?

How is it without a lot of the safety controls like traction and abs in your opinion

scottymactiles the 990 doesnt have ABS

My bad there! You are totally right! Thanks for keeping me accurate.
Great job, hard work. Had any issues with the 990 ?

What you think about the tuono? :-)
Thank you for this video.
First 990 superduke 990 was 2005 not 2008

Awesome video 😊
Good editing
just wish the newer super dukes had undermounted exhaust.... That's why I got an 08.
Nice video!
Provo canyon!

thanks for the reply brother.
0:26 RIP headphone users for the stupid soundbite 😒
err. in 2004 the KTM 990 rolled ut, 2007 is second Gen Sir!
What's your opinion on the 790 and more recently the 890?
Honestly I've never had the pleasure of riding either of them, but i would personally rather ride either of them than the 1290 on our canyon roads! From what I know they're both incredible machines and I hope I get the chance to ride then!
@@w2racing-recycle282 Thanks. Do you guys still ride the canyons? I'd love to join you occasionally. I'm in Salem on a Triumph Speed Triple 😊

Oh no plans yet but I did 1600 miles on my s1000rr and it was rough so I’m looking for something better to ride longer distances
Great video, horrible!horrible audio! Fix the levels in post at least there are random spots when the audio suddenly jumps.great info
