I saw another vid where a guy used a drill with a 14mm (for that model) 12pt spark plug socket on that top piece while moving the throttle back and forth between forward and reverse to purge the air and avoid having to put it in and run it back and forth, then pull to check again. 'hope this helps. Thanks for this. It was another good perspective on the project. I'm trying to see as many views of this as I can since I'm not typically doing this sort of work. Cheers.

Thanks Dave, your video got my 2005 broadmoor k57 working smoothly again.
    Excellent demonstration.

Tuff Torq has oil change kits (oil and new plug) , just give them a call .
I've found them to be very responsive to e-mails also.
I got a kit for 2 changes a few years ago and just did my 2nd change at 450 hrs.
Changing fluids on the hydro are NOT MENTIONED in the owners manual so you have to be proactive on this.
Tuff torq absolutely recommends changing for the longest life.
I take a magic marker to the inside of the engine hood marking date and hours at last change.

    In the beginning...
god made the T40. As time went by, he made it a bit more robust & called it the K46. As time went by
he made it a bit more robust and called it the K57. Some HD parts from the 57 will fit within the K46
& 40, but, not all. I chucked my slippin K46 & replaced it with a K66. Life has never been better.
    !

Yes thanks for the information. My 2015 Broadmoor 22 HP hydro is similar to your unit. I have 250 hrs. on mine and I need to change it soon. I'll take your advise and pray.

So I just got a simplicity broadmoor 20 with 150 hours. The thing looks immaculate and starts right up. One thing I noticed is in reverse and probably drive too, I hear a kind of rattle like noise from the rear tranny area. I can't be sure if this is normal shaking due to NVH causing the pin in the back to rattle around, or maybe these transmissions are inherently noisy? I just wanted your opinion. Do you think I should be worried? Anything you'd recommend I do to this mower at this point in its life (belts? etc). Thank you for your video!!!!

No way to drain from the bottom?

Correct. This is how the company instructed me to do it.

How Dave does it I have a failing one, I think I’m going to dry drilling holes in the bottom and hopefully turn them into drain holes.

@@LawnGardenFun I would call the manufacturer before attempting something like that.

How Dave does it I appreciate the feedback. Tractor was purchased basically for the engine. If I ruin the transmission further no loss to me. Thanks again.
