This young man just erased a big future "Man I shoulda" regret in his life. Hats off to him for taking the plunge...an instance he'll forever be thankful for.
WOW, now this is a moment of a life time this guy
will never forget Michael, you go boy Billy you rock.
"What key do you play it in?"
"What key do you want it in?"
So awesome. This guy's life was made by this!
Compared to your life which is less useful than a white crayon.
Hey, AWESOME reply, @@kttunstall302! So you you work hard at being a sh!tstain, or does it just come naturally to you?
Dream come true for any musician, congratualtions!!! You have great skills and were on par with the master. We're watching you for years to come.
I love playing this song on the piano and it was great to see this kid and his crazy opportunity to play with Billy Joel! Great videothank you
Michael, I have watched this dozens of times. What a dream come true. Obviously you have the talents and guts to actually do it! Good luck in all you do.
emotional. so cool.
I wish someone would belt that chick that keep hollering and saying, oh my god".
Please cell phone filmers, PLEASE... i BEG OF ALL OF YOU WHO RECORD AWESOME SHIT LIKE THIS..... please next time record it landscape and not portrait....
Love Billy Joel's sense of spontaneity and generosity in sharing the stage with this guy was just so wonderful to see. He gave the guy a memory he will be talking about until the dy he dies. Fun video to watch. Everybody enjoyed it!
What's wrong with the 41 people who disliked this magnificent performance???
Ja Maomee : I thought the same thing, why would anybody in their right mind "thumbs down" this magnificent duet!!
i don't really know what to say. I'm just so happy for this dude. I can tell this was a huge deal to him, and it actually literally brings a tear to my eye! What can I say.....he wsa amazing! Even fucking Billy Joel was feeling it! I wish this dude nothing but amazing happiness in his future! He's really talented, and he totally deserves it!
A real musician will never turn down a chance to jam with another musician
Becky Storck Agree, sort of. Billy made a calculated guess based on the situation that this guy could actually play. In a lot of scenarios, you don't open yourself up to look silly by allowing someone to mess up the song. Again, kudos to Billy for taking a chance and probably making this guy's life.
Huh..I've never watched this video..
Oh wait, I bet this was something my hubs did.
Becky Storck Yeah, tell your hubs this dude on the internet said he was wrong ;)
TheMusehobo THAT will be my absolute pleasure to share with him!! lol
Billy Joel showed enthusiam to hear him play, and did just that...let him take over and show his stuff. What a classy musician.
I've seen this video from different angles. Love seeing it from this perspective
This is my second time watching, and from the true view, Michael's cell. And I agree, this is the best view, hearing Michael's friends cheering him on, awesome, so awesome.
+michael tannous I know the person who shot this. AMMMMMMMMAZE BALLLS
Awesome! That made me smile from ear to ear. And Billy is right, the kids got chops!!
this is proof that no matter how awesome the content is, vertical cell phone videos always suck.
I'm so happy for this dude. I bet when he woke up that morning, the last thing he ever expected to do that day was to play on stage for one of the greatest performers in music.
wow.... Billy gave that guy a story for his GRAND KIDS.
Wow. A dream come true for him. That guy's a great piano player. He knew the song well. Mr. Joel was quite impressed.
Still amazing after all these years! Mad props on your chops!
So crazy to see where you are now. Congratulations on your success in the music industry, even though it’s not as a performer.
VCS. Vertical Camera Syndrome. It is an epidemic that needs to be stopped.
Tonight you and Miley won a Grammy!
That was fantastic. Totally unrehearsed and they nailed it. Amazing!
God bless you, Michael Pollack! I sooo enjoyed listening to you! When risk met opportunity, YOU WERE PREPARED! May your music career SOAR!!!
Its surprising what you can get if you just ask. This is awesome.
College kids listening to some classic Billy Joel, reminds me of long road trips with my family, my Dad never let us put on those rap stations.
Congrats man, an icon you just played with.
That was smooth, baby
Great job Michael, way to let your voice be heard...see a chance and you took it. Well done!
He went on the Tonight Show
This is legit one of my favorite moments ever, and I wasn't even there, and I know of it only from UA-cam. Seriously, anytime I'm looking for a pick-me-up, this does the trick. Never seen this perspective before, though. Thanks to you and Billy and UA-cam. There's hope for us yet.
I've watch this over 10 times and just cannot believe it. AMAZING!
of course this is cool, but I think his chances were greatly helped by mentioning that he played with Richie Canata who was in Billy's band for many years. I think that gave him some instant credibility with Billy. I'm sure Billy thought "well he must at lest be OK if Richie has played with him"
dang, this is inspiring, i better have this much confidence when i reach college
What a pleasant surprise those two little syllables can make. "Oh" and "Kay", and the rest is history ... I'm happy for you and the rest of the students. What a treat indeed!
Michael, Have you crossed paths with Billy Joel since this magical night? It is my hope that you can write and produce for Billy one day. Congratulations on the overwhelming success of "Flowers"!
Cool watch from here...thank you... this is what it is all about... The man's got chops..late to the party... Still inspired...new fan.
How many chances have YOU had to ask to play accompaniment for a famous musician? And how many times do you think Mr. Pollack would have been asked by Mr. Joel? The fact that there was a piano onstage already says that there probably was or was going to be some performing anyhow.
How could he say no? Like this: "I'm sorry, we don't have time tonight."
You think a star can accept every proposal for a performance? No, but it's not a douche move to ask. Pollack earned this. Kudos to him.
Michael just thought you would want to know that someone else in the audience recorded your performance and they got a better taping than this one that your friend did. Cudos to your friend for getting it on tape, but you should ask the other person for a copy of his video - he's had more hits than yours too - probably because he zoomed in and you can actually see the faces of you and Billy Joel. Just thought you'd want to check it out - his channel is 333shouichi
That was...I know this is old..but. It was awesome. What a wonderful experience for that young man. Playing, and being on stage with the Wizard. Billy Everybody's State of Mind, Joel. I am old enough to remember seeing Billy..before he became famous, in the Village. Around the time a new group called THE WHO was making their mark.
Mr. Pollack, what an amazing experience. I will look for your future performances. Playing piano for the The Piano Man must have been surreal for you. One sugestion, always carry black Ray Bans with you so you can put them on along with Billy Joel. :D Thank you for the entertaimnet.
This is not the firt time Billy Joel has done this. When I was going to Notre Dame back in 1997 he did the same thing with a buddy of mine from my class was also a great piano player. Joel is a great artist, one of the greatest of our time, and a pretty cool guy.
Either crop this video so it displays right or learn how to hold your damn cellphone so that it is wider than it is tall when shooting videos. An otherwise what should be memorable video to share is spoiled because of idiotic camera work.
GRATZ......It's rare to have a dream come true. It's ever rarer for when you get a chance to live that dream, you do such a great job. And kudos to Billy for not being a typical famous snob and letting a average guy make a memory for life.
I share your video with my piano 🎹 students. This is so inspiring to all of us. Ty Michael
Hey man, congrats and awesome job. Im assuming you're a music student? If theres one criticism I had to give, i'd say that you over played that blues scale just a little haha. Nice accompanying though
They are sharing a very powerfull moment with their very lucky and talented friend. He's very fortunate to have such good and supportive friends, they're very lucky to have such a talented friend.Nice ballsy crew.
I believe this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him and his friend who was recording. I would be crying if I were her. So have some fucking respect. If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't even be able to see it.
Congratulations Michael your obvious hard work & perseverance has paid off. It is a parent's dream to see their child achieve their dreams. I'm sure your parents are very proud of you. Now go make a difference. :)
Set up or not, staged or not, who the hell gets an opportunity like that? Good job Mike, but props to Billy Joel who is, was and always will be one of the coolest friggin' musicians of all time.
I think i would be nervous as hell to perform with him,but i thought it was pretty awesdome of Billy Joel too invite him up. That's why he's still a great guy in my book among other things.
While it was a cool moment, it's also kind of a dick move by the kid. It puts Billy Joel in pretty much an impossible position where he either has to say yes or look like an asshole to the whole crowd.
I knew Richie when he played in a small group in the Catskills at the Raleigh Hotel in 1972. I played trombone in the show band and his group was "The Inner Circle".Those were great times.
Awesome. Also, probably the first time Billy Joel sang this song not himself playing the piano. This is once in a lifetime experience that Michael will treasure. =)
At 0:47 Billy Joel says "what can you do with it?" and the kid says something to make the audience laugh but i cant quite make it out....anyone know what he said?
lighten up. this was the highlight of these kids' lives, and i can tell you you're very lucky if you have friends in your corner like this kid does
In my absentmindedness I was going to reply saying Since when do phones film?...but then i stopped and wait a minute...HEYY phones do film!
A classy act by a real musician these popular artist that are on the radio need to watch this and learn something about giving to their fans.
this is the best thing ive EVER seen, hats off to you Michael, anytime your in dorset come on round & play for me, nice very nice
WIN, WIN, WIN! Love it! Awesome, Kid!
-A three plus decade Billy Joel fan who owned Cold Spring Harbor and the Stranger on vinyl.
YEAH. BE MORE CONSIDERATE OF YOUR VIRAL VIDEO VIEWERS BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH YOUR HEAD WHEN FILMING THIS. GOSH.
What a story to tell your kids... even though you'd have to give them a long explanation on who Billie Joel is anyways... XD
Billy Joel: That I was great, where are you from?
Michael Pollack: I'm a Long Islander just like you.
Billy Joel: Cool.
That was Unreal!!!! Great Job Micheal and Thanks To Billy Joel for being the Awesome guy that he is!!!! Bill (Detroit)
Oh ok i think Billy Joel says What key do you do it in? and the kid replies What key do you want it in?.....thank you
Excellent performance, a dream come true to accompany an idol of yours
Well done and good luck, you've got talent!
That took a lot of guts. And you delivered the goods. Not too many people get the chance to do this and you nailed it.
THAT is why some people are cool.
What is that teaching us???Never afraid or shy or bored to ask a Question, the Answer might just enrich your life.
"Nailed it" is an understatement!
That's the way to do it!!
When I first read the title, I thought in my mind 'Billy Idol', but then I realized no...no
I am disappoint.
good job! great job! what an honor. Michael was pretty lucky seeing as how most musicians aren't that humble.
This is the excited friends' points of view version. Enjoy it for what it is or listen to a different version.
Takes balls to ask the question. Glad it paid off. What a kick ass moment that this cat will never forget.
Great job dude. Glad you took your shot. You were lucky he agreed. Hope to hear more of you! Good luck.
This sounds like a song in a Disney movie. Does anyone agree, and can tell me what it is? Thanks internet.
I'm jealous. Every time I play a mind-blowing solo while accompanying a famous musician I forget my camera.
@apollyonzorz if it was my best friend Id have at least gone into the isle and closer..who's gonna mind
your life is not a dress rehersal ? be ready and preparred to sieze the moment ! way to go kid
cream. dream. I always fantasised about this (backing vocals, i can't play instruments). Great job.
Great job. Billy is a perfectionist and said you've got chops. That's a pretty awesome compliment.
This video was posted in January...
Why is this only just now getting around?? This is amazing!
Just take a look on Billy's website then and you can find it there.
i thought she made it more awesome in a weird way. just kind of emphasized how emotional it was
That was so cool. Clearly Michael is an awesome talent and how cool was that of Billy Joel!!!
Billy Joel looks A LOT different than he did back in 70s and 80s,
He's played it like 435.987.00 times on his home piano,Joel is his favorite artist.Still....
theres a video of him playing with billy joel...what do you mean no one will believe him...
many thanks! Did you record Temptation, She's Got A Way or the instrumental piece he played?
Rotate 90°
Good performance for a college freshman, awesome to play with someone like Joel
Great job man ! Well done .All though i do hope that screaming girls steps on a Lego ....
Awsome...congrats to Mike for an amazing performance and you jamed with the Best (Billy J)
Love the video, hate the screaming wench. How rude she is to her friend and Billy Joel.
Fabulous ! (it pays to always be ready with music. An opportunity may present itself .)
Billy Joel has what is almost a lost art. Its called "CLASS".
Every girl on campus is gonna want somma that. WTG. Got a little teary eyed as well
Disney Movie sounds like the song...perhaps The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World"
a dream realized for the world to see. however distant, still happy to be apart of it.
