      Becky Storck Agree, sort of. Billy made a calculated guess based on the situation that this guy could actually play. In a lot of scenarios, you don't open yourself up to look silly by allowing someone to mess up the song. Again, kudos to Billy for taking a chance and probably making this guy's life.

    of course this is cool, but I think his chances were greatly helped by mentioning that he played with Richie Canata who was in Billy's band for many years. I think that gave him some instant credibility with Billy. I'm sure Billy thought "well he must at lest be OK if Richie has played with him"

    How many chances have YOU had to ask to play accompaniment for a famous musician? And how many times do you think Mr. Pollack would have been asked by Mr. Joel? The fact that there was a piano onstage already says that there probably was or was going to be some performing anyhow.
    How could he say no? Like this: "I'm sorry, we don't have time tonight."
    You think a star can accept every proposal for a performance? No, but it's not a douche move to ask. Pollack earned this. Kudos to him.

  • @christinelamourie4830
    @christinelamourie4830 11 років тому

    Michael just thought you would want to know that someone else in the audience recorded your performance and they got a better taping than this one that your friend did. Cudos to your friend for getting it on tape, but you should ask the other person for a copy of his video - he's had more hits than yours too - probably because he zoomed in and you can actually see the faces of you and Billy Joel. Just thought you'd want to check it out - his channel is 333shouichi

    That was...I know this is old..but. It was awesome. What a wonderful experience for that young man. Playing, and being on stage with the Wizard. Billy Everybody's State of Mind, Joel. I am old enough to remember seeing Billy..before he became famous, in the Village. Around the time a new group called THE WHO was making their mark.

    This is not the firt time Billy Joel has done this. When I was going to Notre Dame back in 1997 he did the same thing with a buddy of mine from my class was also a great piano player. Joel is a great artist, one of the greatest of our time, and a pretty cool guy.
