    Looks like the cut height is set too low for that type of lawn. I recommend setting it to 2.5” or higher. Cutting that low is only for really well manicured lawns that have been meticulously leveled and completely cleared of debris (like a golf course). Low cutting will also thin out the grass with time unless it is fully irrigated twice a week and fertilized monthly or more. Last, low cut also requires mowing every 2 days or else you’ll be cutting off too much at a time which will weaken the grass. Higher cut is better for the grass and lower upkeep.

      I hear you but we don't care about the lawn, matter of fact as soon as it gets 100° days we hope it burns up and quits growing 😂 my dad just wants it cut as low as possible so that's what I do.

    "Luba Trapped - Needs manual rescue". Hilarious error message. Way better than "Something went wrong"

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +2

      It'd be cool if I could see what the error says before I drive all the way there! I thought I was going to be able to use the luba app remotely to be able to see error messages or start or stop mowing. I'm disappointed that I have to be within Bluetooth range to see these things. The luba is connected to Wi-Fi I'm not sure why the app won't work remotely.

      @@Crazypostman I think they could implement Wi-Fi connection in the future after some software updates and use bluetooth just for initial setup, not sure but I think I read it somewhere. It would be great if they do that.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +1

      @@kvsandro yeah I thought that's how it was going to be the whole time. They could certainly keep some of the features to Bluetooth only like the manual driving ability and area programming. But it would certainly be useful if you could tap in and see messages tell it to start or stop or just see where it is in the yard. It has a SIM card slot supposedly so that's got to be part of the future plan eventually

    I’d be like “Dad…. Go look and see if a stick is stuck in it somewhere” before I drove that far again.

      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +2

      Yeah I'll tell him to try to do that, he does know how to send it home with the button but He's in his upper '80s and doesn't move very well anymore, if it ever quits moving in the yard it's just going to have to sit there probably until I can come get it going. it's too heavy for him to pick up and it might even be too heavy for him to tip on its side.

    This is a lawn mower! He is not made for the forest. And yes, for a mowing robot, the forest is what you see there. Leaves must be removed. And so branches are logically not allowed to lie around either. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @Crazypostman  Рік тому

      There's only three trees in the area that it's mowing I wouldn't call it a forest

    You convinced me to buy this. It’s not charging and won’t function. Mammotion is not responding to queries. They lied about the ship date, also.
    Terrible product, terrible customer support

      @Crazypostman  Рік тому

      Sorry you got a bad one, I've had a good experience with mine. Mammotion has sold 1000s of others to happy customers but manufacturing mistakes do happen unfortunately. And some other people they're just not going to work for if they have heavy tree cover or tall buildings around mowing area. I find that it takes them several days to respond to support questions, their customer service certainly always seems to be backed up They probably need more people.

    I still don't understand the anti-theft system on luba. You said you have to be in the bluetooth range to see errors. So if the luba is taken outside the cutting area (stolen), can we even track it with the app?

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому

      My Luba currently has no anti-theft features. That may be coming in a software update but as of now it's not available to me

    Wow Crazy, that would be a deal breaker for me! I have lots of little twigs in my yard. It also looks like it's only two wheel drive. Not four wheel. The two left wheels only. Remember your other vid where it got stuck on that root? Only the left two wheels were turning. Any way of telling your Dad to check for twigs the next time it stops? It'l save you 80 miles. :^)

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +1

      It definitely has four wheel drive but what they need to change in the logic, if it gets trapped it tries to wiggle itself out because it just seems like it just keeps trying to go the direction it was going when it got stuck and that's not super helpful. It was turning so it was only utilizing two of the motors Also the last time it was slightly turning to the right that's why the two left side motors were on. but had it stopped and tried reverse or tried to turn the other way or maybe do a U-turn It could have wiggled itself out Maybe even dislodged that stick if it tried reverse who knows. Maybe they purposely don't have it try to dislodge itself and leave it for the operator to help?

      @@Crazypostman They need to take a lesson from RoboRock. When my robo-vac gets hung up on a cord/rug it tries several maneuvering techniques to free itself. Majority of the time it works!

    Great updates, too bad you have to drive 2+ hours to fix such little things. I guess it wouldn't be such a huge problem if it was at your own house and you fix it quickly, but still it seems like sticks are its arch nemesis :D. Did the previous robot had no problems at all with such situations and never got stuck?

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +1

      The previous robomower was just so much bigger. Bigger blades, bigger tires, bigger weight. It really didn't have a problem plowing through anything. It also only did the front yard. There's no way I could have buried enough wire to have it doing everything luba is doing lol. Plus since it was random navigation it wouldn't be able to do that much even if I left it on continuously I bet. I have mixed feelings about The robomow brand. I personally had quite a bit of problems with part reliability I had to replace a few things in its lifetime. My Husqvarna automower at my house has been much more reliable

    Robotic mowers need a cleaner surface. Have you considered raking your lawn?

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому

      No way I'm raking 3 acres 😂 I don't live here I just mow it occasionally. Hopefully this robot will change that occasionally to rarely. But not if it keeps getting stuck though 😂 I'm going to try to teach A 85-year-old how to help it if it gets stuck.

      Oh it's not that bad 🤣 hopefully we'll get all these sticks taken care of and it'll start doing everything without getting stuck. Maybe it needs thicker tires

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +1

      Yeah or a more aggressive tread that will give it extra traction

    • @kvsandro
      @kvsandro Рік тому +1

      Tires seem more than enough to me, but if the dirt is wet (which seems to be) it will just dig in when in such situations (as it does). In order to be able to get out it needs more horsepower.

    • @davelandry646
      @davelandry646 Рік тому

      I'm not sure how more horsepower or a different tire design would prevent that 'stick' from wedging in where it did. Maybe it's just me, but I would have been leary of running Luba on that lawn if I lived two or three hours away. It seems the only solutions are to rake the area first if you continue to run it there or run it there only when you are visiting your dad.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  Рік тому +1

      @@davelandry646 most of these tall trees are dying unfortunately they continuously just shed branches. many have been cut down in the last 10 years. But trees this size are 5K to cut down professionally so unless it's a threat to the house or something I just let them come down naturally. Had a big ice storm about 10 years ago that pretty much started a Cascade of unfortunate deaths. Either way if it gets it some of the times without getting stuck that still helpful because I would be coming weekly to mow this property anyway if I didn't have the luba as long as it's a stick making luba stuck I don't really blame it. I do wish it would try to wiggle out when it gets stuck it probably could have dislodged it had it reversed. But either way we'll continue on and see how it goes
