    I dealt with this exact issue, but I have a 2014 Lexus GS 350 F SPORT AWD. It is worth noting that they have the same fuel D-4S injection system with both the direct and port fuel injectors. Myself, I had to replace the direct fuel injectors. An advanced Lexus specialist worked on the car and I know him personally and was able to fully articulate why it was specifically the direct injectors and pointed to the fuel trims. I would recommend getting your car diagnosed professionally. Not trying to say that it might be just your direct injectors, but I honestly think that might be the case given the similarity.

      How many miles on your vehicle though when this started happening?

    • @wj6107
      @wj6107 Рік тому +3

      @@ChrisVoight At about 107,000 miles. This had resulted after an incident with bad gasoline (I had to drain the whole fuel tank), so my engine has gone through more wear then normal.

    I recently did a coolant valley plate re-seal on a 2014 LS460 AWD due to a coolant leak, and while disconnecting the direct injector harness one of the direct injector connection points snapped clean off due to how brittle the plastic became over 100k miles of heat cycles. Our shop had to eat the cost of the injector and it was nearly 500 dollars just for one injector, teflon seals (which require a special tool to install correctly), and the o-rings for the rail side of the other injectors. My advice... if you do take this job on yourself, be VERY careful when disconnecting the direct injectors and the AWD harness does not come fully out of the way due to the starter wire harness being blocked by the exhaust manifold, but you can free it up enough to use a bungie cord on the hood latch to get enough space to work the intake out. May also want to consider having the dealer install those teflon seals on the tip of the new injector for you as doing it without the special tool seems like it would be a nightmare.

      They're going to break, usually the back ones break more so than the front ones. I've done about 20-30 of these as a Lexus tech

  • @luisguajardo1197
    @luisguajardo1197 Рік тому +25

    Hey Marty...I'm not sure, but if it has direct injection, then it may be some carbon build-up inside the intake manifold. If the issue persists under moderate to hard acceleration, then check your fuel injectors and connectors, which are prone to becoming brittle and breaking causing issues. Best of luck with your awesome car.

    I hate these no-see-ums in the engine bay. I recommend looking at any ground cables and bolts for corrosion and fraying. Though a ground problem would be less likely to be cylinder specific. Also there could be a wire in the harness leading to cylinder 6 coil or injector that could have chafing or rodent damage, causing a grounding short. Injector harness cable is thin and subjected to so much heat and vibration that it's one of the first things I look at when I pull an intake manifold off. I've wrapped a few here and there with electrical tape to give them a little extra time to live.

    • @MartyMotoring

      This is what you need to do , remove all your injectors and have them professionally cleaned , then you have to place new plastic seals on all the high pressure injectors , this will fix the issues , with your miles this definitely something that needs to be done asap

    @joshriver75 11 місяців тому

    I wouldnt be a bad idea to do a smoke test before you start tearing it apart just to pin-point any vacuum leaks that you may have.
    It would say its very likely a direct injector but checking for any unmetered air could save you some work.

    This is really why I have not bought this exact model which has been my intention for the longest time. You’re better off as I don’t have the background you have in engine mechanics. Thanks. This model can be hit or miss. All my car knowledge is just from internet research, UA-cam and some DIY stuff over the years to save money - I wish I would have learned more about engines sooner, but I'm always open to learning new stuff! So far the process has been ok and can't wait to get this back on the road.

    Nice ride. Love that black on black even though it will cook you where I live! Lol. Got the same year model but 2 wheel drive and not a Sport. 215k. Got run off the road into a metal light pole (not much damage, barely touched the hood) and all of a sudden It act like it don't want to stay cranked and I'm getting a code for the knock sensor. Looked at that job and I can't say I'm real eager to pull the intake off. On the fence about doing it myself or taking it to a shop. Anyway, don't listen to everybody coming down on it. That car can go a long time with proper maintenance.

    #1. I would never buy a luxury car with that many miles. I would put 2-300,000 miles on a Lexus but I would never buy one with that many miles. #2. I would never buy a car from NY because of snow/rust and people in NY that sell cars always seem grimy. #3. If im not mistaken, you paid for the car before you drove it. Big no no.

      I've had alot of Lexus and Toyotas with high miles, so it doesn't scare me and theres always stuff to fix lol. But it definitely is alot of miles on it, but it is in great condition. I'm in Pennsylvania so we also have snow and rust issues, so I'm used to that part. Lexus actually don't rust too badly in my experience. Yes, I paid for it before driving it since it was so far away and the best deal I could find. But this channel is all about Lexus repair and mods so now I get to dive into this project 😅
