    You managed a really great time for such a tough race and you are definitely right on target to meet your goal!
    I know 100% that you will get there :))))

    Looked like a brutal day, and you still did really well even though you weren't feeling 100%. I got tired walking to the grocery store today, so you are still my hero!

    I ran that race also. The late start and the rain sucked. I got 4:07 and my goal was 3:55.

    Amazing. I ran in this race too. The last 10k was an absolute suffer-fest for me as well. Was running at sub 3 pace for about 18 miles and ended up running 3:09. I really think the cold, the rain, the huge downhill start and the delay at the start really made this a witch's brew of tough circumstances. I will definitely look back on this one fondly someday, but not today 😂

      That’s still a good time. But I share your feelings. I had such high hopes for this one and I definitely need redemption. I never quite understood the reason for the delay at the start. At least our start arch didn’t collapse (it did in the half!)

    I ran Mesa on Saturday as well. I was ready to run a 3:15, but my hamstring was a little busted up. As soon as we started, I knew it wasn’t going to be a strong day and I was limping by mile 13. I managed to grind out 19 miles, but then I stepped off the course to avoid real damage.
    It’s a frustrating feeling to put in all the right training and for your body to not show up to race day! I share your need for redemption!

    • @global-runner

      I’m sorry to hear that. It’s such a long way that any little thing can have catastrophic impact. You did the sensible thing rather than suffer long term damage. I guess it’s what makes our sport so compelling.
      I’m tempted to find another one in 8 weeks time. But I need to be able to walk properly first! :)

    • @nickely8524
      @nickely8524 6 місяців тому

      I had the exact same idea. The Revel Mt. Charleston Marathon in Las Vegas is in exactly 8 weeks. I’m going to rest a week and decide if I want to register.

    I ran the half and had a huge PR. It was such a wild start and miserable weather but I got comfortable really quick and got quicker each mile. I saw one of my teammates at the 4:55 mark of your video!

      @@global-runner Yea, it was collapsed before the delay and during the delay. Then we noticed it was rising and all of sudden we were off. No announcement or gun start, they just started sending runners. Most of us didn't have our watches on because they told us 30 minutes but actually sent us around 20ish minutes.

    • @global-runner
      @global-runner  6 місяців тому +1

      A similar thing happened at the start of the marathon. It got to 6:35 and no announcement. Then we were told 7am. Then there was a rumour in the crowd of 6:45 and then eventually we went about 6:50 but some dude just shouted “go!”
      Quite comical but a great event notwithstanding!

    First time viewer and enjoyed the video. I wish you had put your goal up near the beginning. Better storytelling, and for someone like me whose goal is to get 3:45 on March 10th, when the title says "failure" and then you dropped 2:43 I was, of course, thinking "failure?!?" 😂😂😂

    • @global-runner
      @global-runner  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! I put the goal up at the 15 second mark but I must not have made it prominent enough. I’ll definitely make it clearer next time. Thanks for the comment!

      @@global-runner better than expected! Crossed the line in 2:52:49 so was very pleased. Had some pretty severe thigh cramps going into 22, but that miserable weather made me even more motivated to rip the bandaid off and power through the last miles

    Out of curiosity, why is your aerobic heart rate range set narrow, while your threshold range is wide?

    • @global-runner
      @global-runner  6 місяців тому +1

      The watch did that automatically. But it’s a great question. I don’t know why it did that and hadn’t even noticed it until you mentioned it. Maybe it’s because my max heart rate is high?

      This is a really interesting comment! For the last 2-3 years I didn’t wear a watch. I ran by feel and by time. But I do find I like the days when I’m aiming for a specific time.
      I do sometimes miss the good old days though (pre GPS watch) when you had no idea what pace you were running and the only time you knew if you were going to run well or not was when the finish line clock came into view!
