Great video, I've just bought this mic and will be testing it out this weekend. You have explained all the functions really clearly as I know nothing about mics, Thanks
6:01 what lens are you using in this scene? it looks wide but you also have great bokeh in the background. thank you for this video btw, super helpful!
Great review! Sold! I have been contemplating of getting this. Thank you for sharing your insight. I crack up with “ size doesn’t matter” what a hook! Haha.
I noticed this in your review and another review but the noise cancelation makes some improvement but it's not great. Your skateboard sounds and some of the wind in the background was noticable. Overall it seems worth it but just a little thing I noticed. I ordered one. Thanks!
man, what a great video. only a minute and half in and enjoying it very much. your comedy, editing style, even use of the hook with “only 1 complaint but I’ll get to that in a bit,” seriously great content man. you’re doing very well and also providing lots of education with it. we’ll see if i end up gettin this mic, gotta watch the rest of the video now ;)
I am trying to get my hands on one of these and the bigger brother ECM-B1M, and do a full shoot out between all these mics. I am a Rode fanboy at heart, and I fee like the rode will sound better, but better enough for the ease of use of the Sony.....that is the question. I also have an a7c for my B cam and then I use a7siii for A cam. Love the small mic on the a7c.
@@ScottEdwards Yep, I like that I can get NTG quality with a mic that is the size of the Rode Micro and have no cables. Plus never have to worry about audio level by slapping that bad boy into Auto mode.
It sounds great! And my inner gearhead wants to buy it for my videos. I do a bit of talking head, but I do a lot of music. So, im trying to justify buying it somehow 😅😅
So I have the A7iv and want to do a short film involving motorcross. Just stick this on my camera and it automatically syncs with the video when I play and will sound great as the bikes pass the camera?
Would it be worthy on a sony a7sii? It isn't compatible in digital mode, so it would be used in analog .... Should I look to other options or it would work as well in analog mode?
Great review mate. Just got this today and I can confirm that it doesn't work on my ZV-1. But looking to experiment more and hope to do a review one day too.
If this is anything like its big brother ecm b1m then only if you don’t move is this worth it. The protection from itself while moving is really poor and makes very disturbing noises. Very unfortunate since otherwise an awesome sounding mic.
It is a digital mic so it has to be plugged into your HOT shoe on the camera for electrical current and signal transmission. By having this feature, it eliminates wires. It's so convenient and you don't like it 😂
@@gigihanmandarin I like it and I got it, but it just messes up the way my rig is built because now I can’t use the top handle due to the mic being in the way.

Excellent upload friend. Thank you so much.
Finally a review with real world usage! Thank you!! How does one get in touch with Sony to review products? That's really cool
Thanks for watching! I don’t know 🤷♂️ if you find out let me know haha
@@ScottEdwards ohh I'm from the US and it's not released here yet so that's why I thought you got it early to review 😅
What’s your thoughts on the Sony ECM-B10? I think it’s a great little mic! Epidemic Sound free trial here: www.epidemicsound.com/referral/y5xasr/

Great review, I just got that mic and I absolutely agree with everything you said here 😊 also great lighting in your indoor shots

I’m a big rode fan boy too but the fact there’s no wires means I always go for this now when I’m out and about

Nice review man. Some people claim that when walking you can hear a clang from the stabilisation base. Did you notice it?
So I have the A7iv and want to do a short film involving motorcross.

Pretty much yep. Just check your audio isn’t clipping and change the level as you need. Then tweak inside your editing program
Does it work with the FX30?

Can you tell me your setting on your Sony and if you are using a out?
Looks like we share the same camera set up…😂

Yeah I tried my ZV-1 too it doesn’t work. It’s the ZV-e10 that it work’s on. Thanks for watching 😎✌️
Why you didn't search up compatibility before purchasing? 🙈🙈🙈 I hope for a smooth return process.
@@gigihanmandarin oh I have the a7iv and purchased it for that but also tried on my ZV-1 as he mentioned it may work but it didn’t.
Did you use the digital signal? And what db it was on ? I just can’t get the volumes right with zv e10 and ecm b10
Yeah digital and db was at zero

B10 sounds tinny and sharp with the "S"-es, compared to ECM-B1M
The only thing I don’t like is I have to use the cold shoot built on the camera right correct?

@@A.DJC.PRODUCTION It's you, it's not Sony. You should had considered this issue before purchasing.
Does this work with Sony A7 3???
⚡ *Been a while since we saw the eBoard* 😁⚡
Felt good to be back out on it 😎
@@ScottEdwards another great video, you gotta keep a straight face on the next joke 😂
Does this have an impact on the battery performance of the A7C?
I bought this mic and I’m using it with the A7C and luckily there is no noticeable difference in battery performance 🙌
tHE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU BUY A MICROPHONE THAT WILL ONLY WORK ON YOUR SONY CAMERA. CAN'T USE IT for anything else: On your computer, or other devices.
