🇵🇱 W leśnym otoczeniu na wschód od Berlina znajduje się 13-tysięczne Schöneiche, a tuż obok leży nieco większy 16-tysięczny Rüdersdorf, znany z kilku zabytków i dużego kamieniołomu wapienia.
Od 1910 roku w Schöneiche kursuje tramwaj, a od 1912 dociera także do Rüdersdorfu (początkowo do Kalkberge). W 1977 roku końcowy odcinek trasy przeniesiono z Karl-Marx-Platz w Kalkberge do nowej pętli Alt-Rüdersdorf. Część Kalkberge została zlikwidowana przez rozbudowę kamieniołomu, ale dawne torowisko istnieje do dziś.
Obecnie linia pod numerem 88 kursuje od stacji Berlin Friedrichshagen przez Schöneiche do Alt-Rüdersdorf. We Friedrichshagen, po drugiej stronie stacji, można przesiąść się na tramwaje berlińskie (linie 60 i 61). Linia 88 zaś, dociera z Friedrichshagen do Schöneiche malowniczą trasą przez las Krummendammer Heide. Przy Dorfstr. zlokalizowana jest zajezdnia wraz ze starą halą, obecnie służącą za kącik odstawczy. Dalsza trasa do Rüdersdorfu obfituje w wiele jednotorowych odcinków z mijankami. Nieopodal Marktplatz w Rüdersdorfie stoi jeszcze budynek dawnej zajezdni z 1912 roku. W wiejskich okolicach Alt-Rüdersdorf pozostawiono rezerwę terenu pod planowaną rozbudowę trasy i zajezdnię.
Tutejszy tabor zmieniał się wielokrotnie i do dziś jest bardzo zróżnicowany, głównie używany: kursują tu Tatry KTNF6, niskopodłogowce Transtech/Škoda oraz dwukierunkowe wagony produkcji Düwagu.
🇬🇧 In a forest setting east of Berlin lies the town of Schöneiche, with its 13.000 inhabitants. The neighboring Rüdersdorf, with 16.000 inhabitants, is known for several historic buildings and a large limestone quarry.
The tram line has been operating in Schöneiche since 1910, and from 1912 it also reaches Rüdersdorf (initially to Kalkberge). In 1977, the final section of the route was moved from Karl-Marx-Platz in Kalkberge to the new Alt-Rüdersdorf loop. Part of the Kalkberge district was closed down by the expansion of the quarry, but the former track still exists today.
Nowadays the line numbered 88 runs from Berlin Friedrichshagen station through Schöneiche to Alt-Rüdersdorf. In Friedrichshagen, on the other side of the station, you can change to Berlin tram lines 60 and 61. Meanwhile, line 88 reaches Schöneiche along a picturesque section through the Krummendammer Heide forest. At Dorfstr. there is a depot with an old hall, currently used for abandoned cars. The further route to Rüdersdorf has many single-track sections with passing points. Near the Marktplatz in Rüdersdorf there is still a building of the former depot from 1912. An empty area was left at Alt-Rüdersdorf for the planned expansion of the route and the depot.
The rolling stock has changed many times and is still very diverse, mostly used: there are Tatras KTNF6, low-floor Transtech/Škoda cars and bi-directional Düwags.
