Wintersun is the best thing in music I discovered in the last ten years, it's technical without being just that, it's melodic without being cheesy, it's the perfect balance of the two and everything is just right to make it amazing. On top of that Jari's voice has so much character and depth. I just love this band.
Wintersun never disappoints. Absolutely love them! Glad you found them , and like them too. Forrest seasons album is something you should check out. Loneliness (Winter) is my favorite from that one. Hits my melancholy core just right.

Jari (leadsinger guitarist songwriter) deals loss of his father and those emotions about loss, especially two last songs, autumn and winter. Awaken From the Dark Slumber (spring), Forest That Weeps (summer), Eternal Darkness (autumn) and Loneliness (winter) all official lyric videos. First album Wintersun has really great songs also like Death and Healing, Starchild, Winter Madness, Sadness and Hate, etc.
"I need sleep - but I'm so glad I did this instead." Well, that's relatable. XD I've always thought there's something very Slavic about this song. The melancholy, melody, even lyrics remind me of Russian folk songs. You know, the ones about a solitary man riding his sleigh across vast and snowy Siberian landscape, all alone and cold, having lost his love, hope and reason to live. :D Well, obviously Finnish music has been heavily influenced by Russian neighbours for centuries, so whatever.
I've been thinking about difference between slavic and finnish music and sometimes it seems that slavic music is happily in minor and finnish music is sadly in minor. 😄 On the other hand... Wintersun is many times very uplifting, althought it is very emotional and many times sad.

The music of Wintersun is similar to the music of Summoning. Although Summoning is a bit darker.
