I finally found stinging. Nettle today. Ive lived in the woods all my life but was never taught this. Within the past 2 days I have discovered, purple dead nettle, wild violate, dandelion, wild garlic and broad leaf dock. I knew some of these but never realized the importance. I guess my 2nd year gardening has sparked my interest. Thanks for the inspiration and education 🙏

😃 4:10 when he starts talking about harvesting the nettle is when this guy first has gloves on
you DO NEED GLoVES on really when having anything to do with this plant that grows all over -
I use yellow washing up gloves and dig the plant up by it's roots, all connected to the main roots underground
and wash it to get the muck that won't shake off, off the roots also wash the leaves and stems to ruin the stingers
and it is ready to eat straight away, or dry itto eat later - tomorrow, next week, whenever!
it has strong medicinal properties, and if you eat it with fresh or dried dandelions (Taraxacum),
they are dynamite and are curing my asthma

Thank you very much for the info about this magnificent plant. I have been trying to grow some stinging nettles from seeds these days. They popped out yesterday in the plastic cup, and I have been babying them! :-)))) I hope I can grow them, then harvest and share with my neighbours, and even collect some seeds. And eventually share this info with as many people as possible. Regards from Canada . . . .

Was camping at a boys camp for two weeks and ran into these plants which left me with what looked like giant blisters. Painless but looked like something out of sci fi movie. Me and maybe 20 other kids were affected. At first everyone thought we had some disease. It was actually very funny afterwards.

If it was painless then it wouldn’t be nettles. You would feel them, it stings, no amount of ego will cover it up.
