Well he did run Thor through, at the start. If Thors friends hadn't been there and forced him to spend time fighting them he could've capitalized on that surprise and stabbed him again. Even if Thor still had strength to punch him into orbit he would've gotten pretty badly Hurt from being repeatedly impaled
He told Balder that he holds back against the Hulk from fear of hurting him, as he once nearly killed the Hulk. From then on he tries to restrain every iota of his power and strength.
Say what you like about the film, but I enjoyed Thor's mega lunches in the MCU version of Ragnarok. Would have liked to see him punching lightning in Avengers infinity War.
This reminds me of a storyline in Spider man where he gets stuck with the power of captain Universe....but due to plot mechanics, doen't know WHY he suddenly has these vast cosmic powers...he just HAS them. Then he gets accosted by the Hulk. cue Joe Fixit...in orbit, holding his breath and wondering what the f*** just happened until Spiderman flies up to fetch him.
To be fair, even without the Captain Universe mojo, Spider-Man actually IS strong enough to yeet Hulk into orbit. I'm not saying he's stronger than Hulk, just that he can literally put a truck into orbit if he wanted to. Octavius even remarks that Parker is much, _much_ stronger than he himself ever realized when he takes his body over.

Some people just got different tastes. I can see someone more into sci fi tech stories liking iron man more for instance, or more down to earth stories liking spiderman. Thors certainly up there on my superhero list cause the space fantasy edge is cool. I just feel like theres a bit of suspension of disbelief for all the mortal villains wholly willing to run hands with an immortal thunder god. With Hulk at least he’s a creature of science with exploitable weaknesses (ignoring IH) thor It feels like theres a limit to the kind of stories you can tell with him that have stakes.

What about other believing in/into/onto him? He may be the Thunder God, and can affect weather at will, but has anyone ever seen him summon rain down on crops, because people prayed to him? A curse that was amplified over a 1,000 years. It was supposed to let Harald and his crew die after 1,000 years of torture but because the blood that activated the curse unintentionally kept flowing on the rune stone that sent the curse, instead of dying they became magical corpses immune to everything except weapons wielded by blood descendants of the old man that cursed them.

But... once the body escapes the gravitational pull off the planet and the atmosphere, wouldn't he simply continue to travel along his current trajectory until a stronger force is exerted upon him (another celestial body's gravity, for instance)? He wouldn't just be floating in orbit... without something actively counteracting the momentum he needed to reach escape velocity, he should be headed somewhere into deep space instead.
I mean, it's cool and all, but that's just not how science works. Scientifically speaking, that last scene is almost as bad as believing a flimsy piece of cloth is going to protect you from "ThE mOsT dAnGeRoUs ViRuS eVeR"... that's just not how things work.
