Ok, I'm Catholic and this brought tears to my eyes. the priest's confusion and doubt was very real, and he dealt with it in a very mature way: instead of suppressing what he saw or angrily denouncing Thor as a demon, he instead asked him what he was and tried to rationalize it. and Thor's interaction of him was very sincere and heartfelt, I love it. I love how Thor didn't deny an answer because he was hiding something, but because he himself was asking the same question. the fact that he's open to the idea of another God existing above him, and is pondering his place in the universe just like the rest of us 'mortals' is all the answer the priest needed, and his honesty to him was so beautiful. I love how, even though Thor doesn't make up his mind about whether he believes in the priest's faith, he still addresses it in a very respectful and heartfelt way. His humility throughout the whole thing really shines through and proves that whatever he is, he means no evil and doesn't want to lead anyone astray or cause them to doubt their own beliefs. It's such an honest and beautiful interaction, and ultimately shows that, whether or not he is a god, Thor ultimately is this man's friend and fellow traveler on the path to eternity, not the end of the path.
Hey quick question for a catholic, do you believe that the things your church did in the 15th century are justified or do you believe that it was wrong? Just a question, no hatred.
@@slappyjo1046 Good question, and well worth asking. no, I don't think the Spanish Inquisition or anything like that were justified. Pope John Paul II actually apologized to the world for that, along with all the other things Catholics have done in the past. The way we see it, these things were clearly sins in the eyes of God, and serve as grim warnings that no matter how holy we think we are, we are not immune to horrible sins and must be careful and vigilant not to fall for such atrocities. even today I still feel some guilt over them, (that and all the other things contemporary Catholics do, such as scandals among our clergy) it sometimes feels like I have to go putting out all the fires that corrupt Catholics start, and I worry a lot about people who are led astray by the bad examples they see. I appreciate your sincerity, and I think it's an important question to ask. We do need to be aware of our past and know where we went wrong so we can make sure it doesn't happen again. thanks for asking.

Thor and Nightcrawler could have some interesting conversations… The God who questions his own existance in a debate with an ordained Catholic priest who looks like the devil.
You say "god", but it's interesting how the Asgardians don't consider themselves Gods, ie Supreme beings. They are mortal, sentient beings from a higher dimensions. Human beings see them as Gods. They're similar, in the MCU, to beings like the Sandman, Gabriel and Lucifer and even, as we have seen, the Abrahamic god who is shown as a character. It's interesting how, then, none of these beings truly as "god" in the sense we understand it. Because they exist as seperate beings with agendas and beliefs and actions, they must have something over them, or higher than them. Reminds of me a Hindu concept. It's something like "if you can define it, it's not God" Because God in the literal sense is such an incomprehensible, all encompassing thing, that we rarely ever think of God in a true sense. Instead, we give form to Gods. It is likely, (and I say this as a religious man) that every God worshipped by humanity, including the "supreme" gods, are really just very powerful beings. Remember, Zeus was the supreme god once..to people who believe in him. Today we think of him as the "Greek god of Thunder". I know I'm rambling, but this thought fills me, sometimes, with both wonder and lovecraftian dread.
@@libervitaexaltis4551In the comics they are gods. Haven’t read a comic in years but Thor couldn’t die of old age. Becuase he’s half God with a little g on his dad’s side. Half Elder god on his moms side Gaia. If he’s not killed he ages but he will live as long as the universe does. Now in the comics there is a supreme God. A lot of the characters aren’t aware of The one above all though. Not sure if Thors ever met him… maybe. Spidey has a few times. The writers also use him as a metaphor for the writers. Since within that story the writers are God and decide everything.
@@Midv1322 Asgardians aren’t immortal. They can be killed and the average lifespan is 5000 years. The Aesir periodically consume apples if Idunn to extend their life (in Marvel & Norse myth), but Ragnarok heralds the twilight of the Aesir and the fall of not only Asgard, but all the realms. Ragnarok is a bit different in the comics, though.
@@Enraged-Gecko We aren’t talking about the MCU we are talking about the comics. In the comics Thor is millions of Years old so is a lot of other asgardians but like you said they eat the apples. Thor doesn’t need the apples. In the Comics the Olympians are immortal. Thor in Marvel Comics is the son of Gaia( Not Frigga like the MCu). Gaia is Zues Grandmother. Therefore Thor is Zeus’s uncle and has the same immortality the Olympians have. In the comics Thor will only die if he is killed or the universe ceases to exist.
It's a good question. The Marvel Universe superficially looks like ours, but there's super-science, and aliens, and cosmic beings, and magic, and afterlives. It'd be hard for a man of faith to maintain that when so many of these things have actual in-universe proof.
Or it could reaffirm that faith. God created everything including super science, magic, aliens, and cosmic beings. If God is source of all things, we are witnessing his marvels and miracles
I like to believe Asgardians are the Angels kicked out of heaven and they made their own little faux heaven. Having children and acting like Gods kida like the the ancient Enoch and predeluvian stories.
@@Nomadmandude Marvel goes back and forth on this one. Depending on the writer, they're aliens whose technology is indistinguishable from magic, or primal entities at least partly shaped by the beliefs and stories of their worshippers. Angels who'd forgotten their origin is no bad idea, either.
Its to esoteric. There's a set of folks who would demand the answer of how so many deities and creation myths can co-mingle and how their existence is a slight against the "one true yada yada". Worse off there is that attitude of "Mine is the real one how dare you say..." then folks get on social media and don't shut up. Which might be a half decent business strategy or just cause more flame wars which we can all agree the world needs less of. An the reality is that there is no satisfying answer. Like the fable of learning the magic trick. Instead watch screaming goat meme lol. 🙄 I tend to like the down to earth angles. I recommend a show called Doom Patrol its a solid show with a bunch of quirky personalities where folks deal with their trauma and trying to mend while also dancing around with silver age style funny book nonsense.
As a Catholic, seeing characters like Daredevil and Nightcrawler be devout Catholics helps me relate to them on such a spiritual and religious level. Even though they are fictional, it’s nice to know that these fantastical characters uphold the same values and traditions as you do. They hold themselves to the same standard as you which makes their stories feel all the more grounded.
It's things like this that will bring about another Golden Age of comics books. It's time to look at deeper meanings of philosophy in these books now. Time to grow up and realize we're all asking questions...and the thing of it is...there may not be answers after all. The point is to ask the questions to begin with.

knowing Thor's degree of connection to the afterlife (See him saying high to peter in Valhalla after he dies saving cap in an alternate civil war) I have this warm feeling of imagining him going to visit the old man and asking "did you find the answers you were looking for?" and the old man responding "Ask me tomorrow." I just realized how good this would’ve been being the catalyst and driving force behind love and thunder. Thor is just living passenger in his own life after losing his family, not properly feeling asgardian after his homes destruction, not feeling like he belongs as part of the guardians, not feeling like he’s needed as another hero on earth, not even feeling like The god of thunder after finding out he’s no longer the only one that can lift Mjolnir. Then being forced to confront all of this after being asked this by a dying old man, or better yet, a dying Jane trying to find something to believe in and hold onto as her final days approach.
lets see... *''Thor is just living passenger in his own life after losing his family, not properly feeling asgardian after his homes destruction, not feeling like he belongs as part of the guardians, not feeling like he’s needed as another hero on earth''* so far thats pretty much what has happened *''not even feeling like The god of thunder after finding out he’s no longer the only one that can lift Mjolnir.''* which would be inconsistent since he waaayy passed such arrogance and insecurities at this point within his character development. now he feels nothing but pride to see some others also can have what he has. *''Then being forced to confront all of this after being asked this by a dying old man, or better yet, a dying Jane trying to find something to believe in and hold onto as her final days approach.''* that only works if we must assume the answer must be difficult. which could be, if they tried that approach this during their phase 1 era, when extraterrestrial beings are so new and so big deal for the normal people in mcu. but phase 4 was when stuffs like that becomes the new norm. being in touch with ther pantheons or being informed about afterlife systems are a lot more common. and what you asking here is to thor's being like ''huh, i never thought of that''. and you want this to be the 4th movie's burden, because you believe it was the one that you should throw a jab at.
When Thor said "ask me tomorrow" I thought that either Thor was going to give a message to a Valkyrie to give the priest in Valhala or the potion was going to heal him

Actually no, we are here to fuck, reproduce and die. Also one more thing I saw a comment about Disney making this into one of there movies I would not hold my breath Disney is down to doing consistent cringe comedy not serious story telling anymore. I mean they have the material to master piece and they keep screwing it up. They don't have it anymore to actually make a beautiful story like this not anymore
If you mean in history, no this is probably the millions time. If you mean in day-to-day life, no it’s probably the millionth one, but if you mean in Marvel comics even then no. Marvel comics even made a comic about pope John Paul, the second and his life. Shoot, daredevil and nightcrawler are good examples too, and they do get into it. We can take gods and goddesses from different cultures and ancient civilizations and turn them into superheroes and do what we want with them, but it seems that when it comes to God……. He’s not just a character but something more. When you read about gods and goddesses, they sound like the villains and superheroes of the comics we read, but when you read about God, it’s just so different.
@@charizardsniper5064 Have you considered that maybe, that is exactly what makes him God? Like, think about it. Of all the religions of the world, the real world I mean, we have this one religion, where the singular God, chooses to sacrifice his only Son as a ransom for many so that anyone who believes in him will be able to have an eternal afterlife should they choose to believe in him. Meanwhile, we have these many other religions where the "gods" go on these great quests and fight giant monsters and represent many different aspects of human society. And in some cases these religions only have a Hell and no hevean. And in other cases, you simply disappear when you die. Or in other cases, you get endlessly cycled through life till you eventually achieve eternal life by doing some deed. See? Like, another good thing to note is the perspective that the Bible has on humans and their place in the spiritual hierarchy. I think, that no matter what you believe in this world, realistically, we can all at least observe that humans are not and have not been good throughout our collective history as a whole. Now yes, there have been good people throughout that, but often, they still did bad things. Even if they simply made a grave error. And, for all intents and purposes, Christianity and a few other Faith's are some of the only ones to address this aspect of human society. Now in the cases of the faith's they address it by offering a punishment after death, the same could be true of the Gospel before Jesus. But in the case of Christianity, it is presented as "we as humans deserve to be punished, but because God loves EVERYONE he decided to make it so that we can live in eternal bliss if we simply choose to put our Faith in him, and him alone." I look at it this way, all these other pagan faiths have God's that DEMAND that they are worshipped and seen as gods. But in the case of Christianity, as far as I know, this is the ONLY God that doesn't DEMAND worship but rather ASKS for you to believe in him. And even still, he decided to have his son take the punishment for the whole WOLRD's sins, just so that those of us that CHOOSE to believe get to go to hevean. And for those that don't he still loves them anyway. That, to me, is what makes him truly God. Because for all the gods and goddesses out there that claim there gods created the earth. Isn't it a bit strange that most of those gods seemed to only create us as either slaves or as an answer to some great ancient evil? But with the Christian God, he simply created us so that there would be joy, happiness, sadness etc. Life. Not as servants. And what does he choose to do? He chooses to give us ALL a path to eternal life should we choose to take it, in the form of his OWN. SON. How much love must one have for them to give up the thing most dear to them, for the good of many? If we all have a purpose and a place on this Earth, then to me it makes that it comes from a God that chooses to love EVERYONE and not just the select few that worship him. Otherwise, we come from a series of random chances that when you think about it even a little bit, makes no sense because of how well and finely tuned this world truly is. And honestly, I find it ironic in a sense that some people don't at least think about this aspect of our world. Because even Scientists and Physicists, who basically spend there whole lives trying to answer this very question with probable observations, have outright ADMITTED that the world is simply to well adjust for it to have not been made by some higher power. And, I think that says the most about how illogical the idea of there being NO God is. It's not stupid, and you don't have to agree with it, it just doesn't make much sense when you really think about it. And it leaves you with more questions than it answers. So anyways, that's my little rationale for why I think Jesus is truly the real God. I know it's probably not fool proof and there probably plenty of counterpoints that poke holes in it. But I think it holds more merit than the world would give it credit for. Anyways, all that aside, God loves us all, and though we may not agree on WHO God is, I just want to end this by saying, God Bless everyone. Have a wonderful day.
@@charizardsniper5064 "But when you read about God, it's just so different" My man, NEVER read Old Testament then. That was the "Casually annihilate an entire peaceful civilization for shits and giggles" God. Also obviously the original comment was talking about the comics.
Best definition of faith ever: the magic of the unknown, the wonders of tomorrow. A few years back i walked away from.my catholic beliefs for one thing remained in my mind: the universe is infinite and it cant be as simple as we humans view ir, we create dieties, gods and all powerful being in our image believing evrrything surrounds us... what if we are parts of the surrpundings of something else while at the same time something surrounds us and surrounds other thigs at the same time. What i mean is, i wont limit my faith in the unknown to a religion and its rules just befause its "right", I choose to wonder and believe in the beyond, but also wait to accept the answer that will be given to me when my time for answers come and theres nothing wrong with answering tomorrow
There is no time for answers. We aren't owed the truth, we aren't even owed existence as a concdpt, let alone to understand it. We are here and that's the most we'll ever understand of it all.
You are talking the definition of blind faith. Actual faith the real word is not an inherently religious word, it means trust based on truth to make it simple, it's what we use in day to day life and to do science and everything. That is the type of faith in Christianity unlike all other religions which have blind faith, why? Because the Holy Spirit promises to reveal and make real Jesus to anyone that seeks him. It's why all the disciples who saw Jesus God in the flesh do miracles like raise the dead all denied him on the cross. Yet after Pentacost with the Holy Spirit they would give their lives rather than deny him along with hundreds of thousands of Christians in the Colosseum because the Holy Spirit makes Jesus more real than if he were in the flesh beside you doing miracles. It's real faith, not blind faith.
I just combine some of my beliefs with scientific knowledge Something like the big bang happening doesn't seem like it could happen out of nowhere afterall
@@doubt3430 exactly, the thing is the burden of proof is on the one pushing a narrative counter to the paradigm of reality, like with the big bang which is cause and effect. The naturalist needs to establish why in that one singular instance there would be an effect without a cause and what evidence would lead them to even think that in the first place if not. They have no answer for either nor with all the other issues with naturalism like origin of life and all the information came from for all DNA. Probability aka natural selection in their mythos can't produce it.

That was beautiful. Faith demands a heavy toll… but once rendered over, you’ll find greater peace than most ever will. Amen. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Christ has come. Christ has Risen. Christ will come again.
Trying to make sense of thors story: there is magic in having faith in what you believe in. Being comfortable in it brings magic, and questioning the magic behinds it, although brings understanding of what it is looses the magic . Because in the end, what is faith if not to believe, and what is magic if there isnt any magic to believe in?
This is sweet. I liked how, even though Thor doesn’t have the answers, he’s able to comfort the priest by admitting he asked himself the same questions.
Halkgirl from JLU, said that she doesn't believe in God (heavily implied) when Grundy was dying. I'm like, how could you not? You've fought against Darkseid before. FFS. Sups, GL, WW and MAN, had to take care of a demon baby when the group got turned into kids.
I think it's more less not believing that gods are fake and religion is a sham and more so that while gods exist, that doesn't mean you or we or me have to follow them and whatever religion. It's like a middle ground between atheism and misotheism
If the MCU tried to do a scene like this, they would have ruined it by putting in some joke with Thor like "Well, I'm a God, the God of Thunder. Maybe your faith should be in me" or they would have made the priest's personality aggressive towards Thor, treating him like a demon or something like that. A conversation with this topic would have to be done in an interesting and deep way, just like in this story. It doesn't have to be a funny conversation full of jokes, it doesn't have to present the "sides" like villain and hero, just as it doesn't have to give an answer. There's no need to have Thor lying to the priest and telling him what he wanted to hear just to comfort him in his last moments. Just like Thor himself said, he doesn't have the answers, so he couldn't give the priest certainty about the God of his faith. That way, the subject would end up with more questions than answers, without being sure whether God exists in Marvel or not.
I know in the DC universe God or the Presence does exist as does Heaven, hell Lucifer, Michael and the rest but I have no idea about the Marvel Universe.
The top of the cosmic tree that we know of is the One above All, who exists outside the multiverse and predates it and its predecessors. It's been hinted at that even he may not be the final top, but simply as high as it's possible for beings within the multiverse to know.

They did do a comic Thor lord of Earth, then Thor take over after Odins death, and the other gods of Earth invite him to join them, they have a very hands of approach toward Earth. Thor disagree, and declare himself as a god on Earth, and get worshipers and start to do miracle, like resurrect the dead... you can imaged what religious strife and crises of fate that create, Thor try to do good, but do more harm then good, and in the end realize the hands of approach is the best way, he travel back in time, and give himself the knowledge and the humility, so he do not declare himself a god on Earth.
its funny , but i really like superhero comics about the heroes just doing things , not saving the world or fighting villains , just doing stuff , having a conversation with someone , helping a guy on a farm , taking a day off just to end up taking the weight off someone to let him go to his daughters wedding , that kind of stuff
There's one tale where the ''real'' Thor from mythology (not marvel) casually stops by a farmhouse where he shares the meat of his goat with the commonfolk who live there.
Over time, I’m starting to really get into these type of stories. Heroes just doing things. Not the most exciting stories at all especially if they’re powerful but for some reason it engages me more than the usual “save the entire Galaxy or city” stuff.
One hand this is a deep dispaly on fear and faith. On the other hand Thor is a troll who kept saying "ask me tmr" and when it finally came his answer was "i dont have a clue either"
I think in this specific scenario, the context means not to put any other gods, existent or not, before/above Him, as they aren't able to provide the real peace ,love and truth that we as humans need
Should have ended with Thor seeing the old priest walking with Christ thru the Gates of Heaven. With Jesus looking back at Thor and just giving a smile and nod

I’m not religious, but I often found myself asking who gets to decide that life is meaningless? There are things we can’t see with our own vision, sounds we can’t hear, entities that exist both vast and microscopic that we cannot perceive. There’s so much we don’t know or comprehend, that there being something after death or some higher being is the LEAST impossible thing one could imagine. As such, I find it difficult to look at it all and see it meaningless.
@Crazieyboy15 it's easy. It's truly is meaningless. But if you need it not to be to get through, then that's up to you. I, on the other hand, know it is

I'd read that comic. It just sounds so interesting
It's something like "if you can define it, it's not God"
Because God in the literal sense is such an incomprehensible, all encompassing thing, that we rarely ever think of God in a true sense.
It's a good question. The Marvel Universe superficially looks like ours, but there's super-science, and aliens, and cosmic beings, and magic, and afterlives. It'd be hard for a man of faith to maintain that when so many of these things have actual in-universe proof.

*''Thor is just living passenger in his own life after losing his family, not properly feeling asgardian after his homes destruction, not feeling like he belongs as part of the guardians, not feeling like he’s needed as another hero on earth''*
so far thats pretty much what has happened
*''not even feeling like The god of thunder after finding out he’s no longer the only one that can lift Mjolnir.''*
which would be inconsistent since he waaayy passed such arrogance and insecurities at this point within his character development. now he feels nothing but pride to see some others also can have what he has.
*''Then being forced to confront all of this after being asked this by a dying old man, or better yet, a dying Jane trying to find something to believe in and hold onto as her final days approach.''*
that only works if we must assume the answer must be difficult. which could be, if they tried that approach this during their phase 1 era, when extraterrestrial beings are so new and so big deal for the normal people in mcu.
but phase 4 was when stuffs like that becomes the new norm. being in touch with ther pantheons or being informed about afterlife systems are a lot more common. and what you asking here is to thor's being like ''huh, i never thought of that''. and you want this to be the 4th movie's burden, because you believe it was the one that you should throw a jab at.

@@charizardsniper5064 I suppose I should specify. I can’t remember a time in marvel or dc where someone questioned monotheism
But in the case of Christianity, it is presented as "we as humans deserve to be punished, but because God loves EVERYONE he decided to make it so that we can live in eternal bliss if we simply choose to put our Faith in him, and him alone."
I look at it this way, all these other pagan faiths have God's that DEMAND that they are worshipped and seen as gods.

Religion, rules...God desires a relationship. He is waiting to welcome you home frome your wandering, if you will still trust Him.
He is the creator of the dimension known as Heaven and the father of the beings called Angels. The One Above All is most likly the writers/artists. The One-Above-All is the supreme ruler of the Marvel Multiverse and cannot be defeated. The One-Above-All has appeared in various forms, including as Jack Kirby, the co-creator of Marvel comics.and The One Above All's weapon is a pencil that could manipulate reality. The organization Gorgon found a "rock" (actually the tip of God's pencil), called it the "Protolith," and attempted to use it to rewrite reality but was thwarted when Deadpool notified the One Above All.

No matter how powerful a creature in marvel is, there always seems to be something greater in a realm above.
Some universes it’s the actual writers, in others it is unexplained just what lies beyond.
You mean, "A Dying Priest humbles Thor, giving perspective to his Godhood"
No 😑
That was beautiful. Faith demands a heavy toll… but once rendered over, you’ll find greater peace than most ever will. Amen. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Christ has come. Christ has Risen. Christ will come again.
The real question is who replaced everyone in these comic panels with lovecraftian fish people?
That is a pretty janky art style. Thor looks like a flat faced toddler in half of the shots
Now this is good writing. Why are stories like this becoming so much harder to find?
they are more interested in power scaling and gender politics
Also Thor: "Lucky bastard, I will either die in battle or live thousands of mortal lifetimes before i find that answer. Here's to you, priest."
Priest: “Thor, is there a god?”
Thor: “Yes, it is me.”
Whoever wrote this comic should be writing the next thor script
I know in the DC universe God or the Presence does exist as does Heaven, hell Lucifer, Michael and the rest but I have no idea about the Marvel Universe.
The top of the cosmic tree that we know of is the One above All, who exists outside the multiverse and predates it and its predecessors. It's been hinted at that even he may not be the final top, but simply as high as it's possible for beings within the multiverse to know.
@@davidandrews2972 the only "thing" above TOAA is Marvel itself and the writers.
That was, very faintly, the implication.
@@davidandrews2972 Wasn't the one above all a representation of Jack Kirby, and considered a stand in for the writing teams?
@@GeoDeathDeathGeo Traditionally he's been shown that way, yes, in brief cameos. In the recent past though he's been more involved - in the Immortal Hulk, and in one of the Thanos books - which I suspect is what's prompted the suggestion of a hierarchy beyond even him.
Can you imagine how awesome it would have been if they put this guy in love and thunder? Thor did fight dark elves in the mcu at some point, and it would have had significance to both gorr and jane
The MCU could never. They wanted to up the comedy in Love And Thunder, and this wouldn't be possible in an MCU-ified "comedic" film.
That was really thought provoking
This was absolutely beautiful
If I were Thor, I'd go to the land of the dead and see if the Priest is there.
Imagine him hearing about moon night being a worker of the moon god himself
❤ Great answer to the Great mystery.
Thor really was worthy of his power, he possessed kindness and wisdom.
"mArvEl aRe huManS tRyinG to bE gOdS"
Marvel:
that nonsense statement has been debunked to hell and back. infact when you actually look at properly, you will find out that reverse is the case.
Thor has had MANY people who asked him the same question and he gave them the same answer. It’s one thing that Marvel never really addresses with Thor. The fact that he’ll outlive all of his friends by hundreds or thousands of years and he just has to go on and be OK about it. He will be OK ,be he’s done it before. I think Hercules is the only person he’ll probably not outlived, but we’ll see I suppose.
he has literally outlived Hercules and every single god in the marvel universe before. outlived stars even. dude lived for trillions of years and sailed into entropy to hold up creation for all eternity.
read KING THOR by Jason Aaron
Due to a lot of conflicting beliefs in real life, there’s probably not going to be a full answer to the age old question even in a story, but the question does draw out many things wisdom contemplation, everything and nothing
The question itself may seem like nothing, but it is almost like art or poetry in it’s simplicity, endless is its inspiration boundless are its effects, immeasurable in its complexity, timeless as it is past throughout all generations of time by every civilization.
Lady Death: Ok, christian, take a left here and thats your heaven.
Priest: ... Ok so now I have MORE quearions!
Wow firts history of Thor I know (besides seen him on The Avengers or mentioned in other comics) and Its already my favorite, thanks
Thor: what do you want to understand about me?!
its funny , but i really like superhero comics about the heroes just doing things , not saving the world or fighting villains , just doing stuff , having a conversation with someone , helping a guy on a farm , taking a day off just to end up taking the weight off someone to let him go to his daughters wedding , that kind of stuff
I always thought that god simply created gods in the mcu too just for the heck of it
This is like the Mevel works of the early ‘60’s. Well done, Marvel. Well don indeed….
I do have to admit this a pretty interesting concept.
One hand this is a deep dispaly on fear and faith. On the other hand Thor is a troll who kept saying "ask me tmr" and when it finally came his answer was "i dont have a clue either"
MCU:
“Thor is there a god”
“Well i am a god myself you see so your looking at him heheheheh~”
Good story, but there is a very interesting part in the bible:
'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.'
So there are other gods.
I think in this specific scenario, the context means not to put any other gods, existent or not, before/above Him, as they aren't able to provide the real peace ,love and truth that we as humans need
yes there is. its the one above all. hes still missed.
Abraham God is actually just a Skyfather level in the Marvel universe. Not many understand or know this.
This comic just hit me .
Should have ended with Thor seeing the old priest walking with Christ thru the Gates of Heaven. With Jesus looking back at Thor and just giving a smile and nod
ask yourself if there's a JESUS CHRIST in the marvel universe first. infact most times when people die in the marvel universe VALHALLA is usually used as the heaven of the marvel universe. people like hulk, sentry, tony stark etc have all been to Valhalla at some point. which means the real Abrahamic god doesn't really exist in marvel. unless you count Yahweh who is just another skyfather as him.
@@Tecnofanbooywell Yahweh is the abrahamic god so I don’t see the contention

Wait... Isn't Thor aware of the one above all? He had the answer...he could have given it 👀
except that TOAA is not God in a religious sense.
@@Tecnofanbooy He is within the marvel multiverse to those that are aware of him 👀 Even Catholic priests within the marvel multiverse still exist in a world there there are thunder gods..... Just like this whole video is about.
Yes he may be a Christian priest.... But he is a Christian priest within the marvel multiverse.
And he asked for an answer to how he is supposed to deal with his faith in a christian god when there is a literal Norse thunder god standing in front of him.
Thor could have started with exactly the way he did, " You will have to accept what I am about to tell you...." And instead of giving the answer he did, he should have said, " there is a supreme being that is the ultimate god of our known multiverse. This being is known as the one. Above all. He is the literal creator of all and everything. As guardians are gods but we too have gods. And the god above all others is The one above all. I am sorry that this is not the answer you wished for and I'm sorry if it doesn't satisfy you. But I promise you and answer to the purpose of your existence...... I Thor, god of thunder will not lie to you. Now I have given you your answer."
@@TwoPaw-Shapurr which part of my comment do you not understand?? these gods sees TOAA as just another cosmic power house like the living tribunal or the beyonder. they don't view him as GOD. and frankly speaking, neither does marvel itself. TOAA is viewed as the representation of the writer. not as a biblical GOD. marvel literally has a character called Yahweh. who is a skyfather just like Odin and zeus.
@@Tecnofanbooy which part of my response do you not understand?? His question is, " how am I supposed to deal with my faith in God and that god being the one and only God ...with the literal Norse god of thunder in front of me?"
Thor's answer should have been along the lines of, " I'd hate to break it to you, but even if you're God exists... Obviously he is not the one and only God. In fact, there is the one above all Who is the supreme ultimate being and creator of our multiverse."
The point being is.... THE PRIEST'S QUESTION WASN'T ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF A BIBLICAL GOD!!!
His question specifically was, " how am I supposed to deal with my faith that the god I chose is the one and only God.... When here you are the Norse god of thunder standing before me."
And since you don't have the intellect to understand my response, I will state it more simply.
Thor himself is aware of the one above all.... He may not know or understand exactly what or who the one above all is.... But he is aware of the one above all's existence and knows he is the ultimate being of his multiverse.
Therefore, in response to the priest question.... Which is how does he deal with his faith in that his chosen God is the one and only god, when the literal Norse god of thunder is standing before him.... He could have answered his question the first time by telling the priest EXACTLY HOW EVERYTHING IS AND INFORMED HIM OF THE ONE ABOVE ALL WHO CREATED EVERYTHING!
So instead of giving a snippy remark and attitude..... FIRST READ WHAT THE PRIEST'S ACTUAL QUESTION WAS
@@TwoPaw-Shapurr since you don't have the intellect to understand my answer"
😂😂😂😂😂😂. says the guy that literally misconstrued a question in a comics he never read just to create his own narrative 😂😂😂. dude he's a PRIEST, he's literally asking asking about the biblical GOD. even someone with shortages of brain cells like you should be able to grasp that. like jeez, if he isn't talking about biblical GOD when a pagan god is literally sitting right next to him then who the hell is he talking about then?? i guess common sense isn't common after all.
What's hilarious is he asked the wrong person. He SHOULD have asked Howard the Duck.

In Marvel exists the One Above All, wich this story shows that the Thor never crossed Him till these day. Marvelous story, I had to say
TOAA is not a GOD in religion sense in the marvel universe. he is just the embodiment of the writers.
TLDR: Thor makes a dying priest wait 4 years for a shitty cop-out.
Thank you for narrating this comic, this was very interesting and good to hear
Aaaand.... Thor made it all about himself.
considering Stan Lee is probably "The One Above All" and he makes regular cameos in his own stories it's safe to asume he outclass the entirety of the Abrahamic pantheon in terms of in-lore divinity
it's a common mistake folks makes around here. in the marvel universe, the Abraham God IS NOT the supreme being. the writers are. which are represented by TOAA. infact Yahweh is just another skyfather like odin, Vishnu and Zeus in marvel comics.
The irony is the fantastic four actually did meet the one above all once and they took the form of Jack Kirby Stan lee's co creator on alot of his work and arguable had more of an impact on marvel as a whole
Norse gods are just aliens. Boom existential crisis resolved 😂
No, in the comics Thor is a actual god
Except that you can't be existential in Marvel when the afterlife exists, including Valhalla.
@@IDontReallyKnowAnymore69 there are different afterlifes in Marvel.
Thor doesn't know. He's just as lost and vulnerable as the old priest, but he also doesn't have the heart to tell him that he doesn't know.
All he knows is there's something else after.
He literally told him in this very story.
Sew the thing this priest wasn't hip to is this ,they live In a realm where multiple god like beings exist so his congregation shouldn't really be worried about Thor, only norseman pray to Thor and Odin and the like ,your not gonna catch an Amish guy praying to Thor or Rah or whoever . People pray to who they want to pray to . The fact this priest had to actually ask Thor how he should explain a thunder god being on earth shows he lacks faith in his own god. Bro needs to put his head back in his Bible and he might learn something, clearly the writer here wasn't religious at all .bet

I got this, there is nothing, as you pass there will be flashes, this is the last sparks of electricity in your brain, then nothing. Because we invented god/s because we were scared of the dark. That's it. Life is meaningless. Soz
I, on the other hand, know it is
@@privatechannel8462 Ironically, you’re the one who comes off as needing it to be meaningless.
I’m confident enough in the knowledge of admitting that I don’t know if there is something beyond it all. But I don’t “need” it to mean something to get through life.
To deny even the possibility of there being something we can’t understand is arrogance, if you ask me. You don’t “know” anything, you simply made a choice to not give meaning life.
@Crazieyboy15 ha ha I like you, you are funny
we already know everything is energy and matter particles that break down into simpler forms. no meaning to this.
