The Beehive From The Future!! Anel Plastic Beehive

- Опубліковано 26 лип 2024
- In this video we take a look at the Anel Plastic Beehive! Made in Greece this hive is quite something! Ive not seen a beehive like this before. The first unusual thing is its plastic! Beehives are normally wood or poly. But the unique feature of this hive is that the inside of this hive is actually insulated!
You get the insulated benefits of a poly hive but the hard wearing shell of a hard plastic.
This is a well thought out hive with many features to help the beekeeper. Multiple options for feeding the bees are available and a pollen trap can be fitted easily to the hive.
This is one hove that won't rot and will last a lifetime if looked after.

I was gifted a Langstroth hive and rather than moan that it wasn't a National, I placed a cardboard box inside at the back to fill the extra space and support National frames. It works.
Insulation boards also work too
Just ordered one of these plus the feeder from you! And a few other bits and bobs 😊
Thank you ☺️
Great hive! Changing all my kit to langstroth. Slowly but surely!
I got one last season to test it out and then ordered 15 this year . They just solve the issue of cleaning . A hot jet wash in the garden and it's done . They can take the bumps better than poly
And the price is great .
😊
That's a nice setup, it seems they've thought of every situation.
The ID tag system is very useful. Exactly like the apps for livestock, so you can enter your information there and then.
Damn this is great product.
Love these. I’ve ordered 2. Switching from nationals to langstroths
💛💛
Great design, very similar to Technoset. It will be interesting to see if there is any shift in the long run from National to Langs due to more hives on the UK market only in Langstroth format ( Anel,Technoset,HoneyPaw,Paradise and some flowhives etc)
Will be great seeing you working these hives how robust an productive they are mice and othere stuff have been damaging my langstroth polly hives could be future for me 🏴👍
Just ordered 2. I haven't started beekeeping yet, so I haven't invested in any national equipment, so great timing. Can't wait to receive it.
You won’t be disappointed 😊👍🏻
Great piece of kit!
I’m a Langstroth gal…so this is very interesting to me. I am looking for a well insulated hive that won’t get shredded by badgers and pine martens.
This is a good option for you 😊💪🏻
Already ordered, can't wait to collect on beekeeping show.
Thank you ☺️
Very nice set up
Gruff 😊
How many are you ordering😉
I am in the US...I have 11 of these and love them...
How long do they last in comparison to wood hives?
@@Delibro They have a 10 year warranty....
@@caz4523 Thanks for the reply, sounds good.
@Delibro I really do love them...Did you know they have a RFID tag built in the top cover... You can scan the tag via their app and keep track of that hive...example when hive was treated for mites, queenless , how many frames of brood... anything you want to keep track of...very handy
Fantastic, thanks
If Carhartt made hives they would be like this! 👌
😆💪🏻
Interesting video, I like the cedar nationals as I feel better not adding anymore hard plastic to the environment.
Cedar is a great hive
Wow looks fantastic will be ordering this week but can’t make it to the show it’s just to far.
Great price
looks a good hive my question is durability long term and how it copes with different temperatures plastic becomes brittle over time
It copes with the weather and sun in Greece ☀️😊
Hello! The hives are built for heavy use and nomadic beekeeping. Inside they have polyurethane insulation all around the box and cover so they provide an insulated environment for the bees to easily maintain their temperatures summer and winter. Our first batch of bottom boards first constructed in 1999 are still being used!
Love to get on but already get confused between WBC and National. So yet another will make my head explode.
😂
When I get there in May I’ll be buying one and getting some of those extra things as well just need to figure out how to ship it. Also like to get a few of there three way frames to take home. See you there 👍🏽❤️❤️❤️🐝🐝🐝🐝
😊👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent and they way cheaper than that Turkish beehive (forgot the name right now, they're fancy, but boy are they expensive!)
Looks good. I have an Apimaye hive which is four times the price and the Anels look to be the same quality and offer far, far more.
Yes, that's the one, fancy, but expensive.
Are these 10 frame hives?
Yes 10 frames 😊
Plan on getting a couple at the show on Saturday. Do I need to pre order?
Sorry only seeing this! Did you get one off us at the show?
Welcome to the beehive version 2.0 - now in plastic
There is no doubt that using plastic opens up a world of affordable choices and possibilities that will cost a fortune if made in e.g. red cedar. From your thorough presentation of this hive I would say that the hive with floor and roof looks great but those plastic bits for the entrance all look extremely flimsy and a little bit fiddley too. I love the feeder options though and wonder if they might fit on a National hive? Personally I am happy to go give most things a go if it looks like a good idea, and this certainly does, but having to swap to Langstroth makes it a bit inconvenient.
Would be great to have a national version
If only they did a national variant 😢
I know!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
If only the UK would switch to Langstroth :P
I do probably regret being brainwashed by my local BKA to go down the National route. There is so much more choice of equipment for Langstroth.
If Anal do Drone brood plastic frames, I'll buy 10 to cut into strips to put in my national hives.
Il find out
Looks amazing, would love to shift to Langstroth my problem is I've only recently bought an extractor that I think only does national frames!
It will probably be able to extract langstroth too 😊
Do you know the R value of those hives?
Hello! The value is R7. Inside the polypropylene walls there is polyurethane foam.
Are there any us retailers? Can you get three deeps instead of mediums? For me, i love apimaye hives but they're pricey. This is a nice alternative
Drop Anel a message they will get back to you with a USA rep 😊👍🏻
I assume the supers are medium (Dadant) depth and not the shallow that tend to come with Thorne's cedar Langstroths?
These are medium supers 😊
How do you bucket feed with the hole in the lid, it has a mesh?
The mesh comes out clicks in and out 😊
Curious if they’re similar insulation to poly hives?, looking forward to your video using them👍
Yes very similar 😊👍🏻
Inside the polypropylene plastic walls they are filled with polyurethane insulation all around the box and lid. You can see how a cut box looks on our UA-cam channel. We will also provide cut samples to Gruff so he can showcase them.
Hi Gruff, great video last night with Laurence, and I see in this video you're wearing a Carhartt Jacket, is it the LOOSE FIT FIRM DUCK BLANKET-LINED CHORE COAT. If it is, what size is it? Thanks, Mick
Hi Mick,
Yes I think that’s what the coat is called. It’s got C01-M on the label
They look great and awesome price … I’d order if they were National format … but don’t want to introduce complexities into my small setup.
Would love to know if there would be any chance of National format coming out ?
Il be asking 😊
@@gwenyngruffydd TBH … I saw the price and I think I’ll go for a couple. Will speak to you at Telford. An idea for one of your UA-cam videos would be how to convert a Hive/ NUC from National to Langstroth. Am thinking a small split with rubber bands to hold comb in 3 x langstroth frames and use the divider and build it up from there ?
I will be seeing what I can do. 🤔
Been trialing both the Anel and Technoset for the past year or so and both are fantastic hives. IMHO the Technoset just edges ahead with it's flexibility and feature set but the Anel is not far behind both retrofitting with standard Langstroth boxes not tying you to a brand. For me personally it's meant that I can mix and match for the strengths of both. You can't go far wrong though if you can't get your hands on a Technoset. IMHO mixing and matching puts them as the current Rolls Royce on the market. Gruffydd is very good as well if you want Anel products he doesn't currently sell. He's arranged to pick up things on is next order with Anel.
Are you going to stock the new butane fogger by ANEL [SKU: AN60003B]?
If people want it, no problem we can bring them over on the next delivery
Hi hope this isn’t a stupid question but how do I input the info. population frames etc thanks
Voice record on the phone then listen back to it and input the info when your on the computer 😊
@@gwenyngruffydd thank you I’m very new to beekeeping love all your streams keep up the great work 🙏👍👍
Are there any paints that are safe to use for a bit more UV protection?🎉
As long as it sticks to plastic it would be fine 😊
Hello! UV filter is already infused in the plastic, no need for extra paint. But if you do want, use something that sticks to polypropylene as Gruff said.
How much is the hive with two suppers
Hi Patrick. They are currently £115 on the website gwenyngruffydd.co.uk/collections/langstroth-hive-hive-parts/products/complete-langstroth-assembled-beehive-by-anel
Is this Bee Hive Plastic composite..?
It’s a hard plastic on the outside with a foam middle
Seems like a good idea to modernise apiary's, but should we really be using more plastic these days? Haven't the traditional wooden hives been used for hundreds of years without too many problems?
Great and valid point. There is still a place for wood 100%.
It’s also worth noting that there is a big difference between single use plastic and plastic that’s designed to last a lifetime that can still be recycled.
But from an environmental point of view, of course wood is better.
Bloody lovely but
How do I get it in India
Isn’t that basically just Technoset
I think Anel was on the market first?
You Needed to be very careful with your pronunciation on that video!🤣
Where’s ya hair gone Griff
I get around 4-5 hair cuts a year. Don’t mess about!! 👨🦲
I get the benefits & particularly in a commercial setting, but being Langstroth & with the slightly tacky aesthetic (to me), it's a no at this end.
Please you help me for bee keeping
Now you can guarantee microplastics in your body, bees and your honey! 💯🤣😞
Please respect the earth and boycott plastic the footprint is awful!! No plastic in my hives and there is no plastic up in that bee tree!!!
@@CALtheSPAR Your right, still drinking out of them plastic bottles and consuming them micro plastics but not having any more offspring anyway! LOL!!
Thinking ahead ro when I have bees in my anel hive, how does it work for varroa checks with no inspection board?
@lynetteblackman157 you could do a mite shake test?
Thank you. Back ro searching for a vid 🤣
Great video again buddy - Would you know if a Flowhive super would fit well on them?
Are flow hive 10 frames? These are compatible with timber boxes.
They come in 10 frame and 8 frame version. Mine are 10.
I guess what I need to know is the exterior width a length as the internal dimensions would be the same. But no worries I'll have a peep at the Anel site for the dims before I spread the word to my Flowhive chums - keep up the good work buddy.
