Great review! I actually think I liked Thomas and his story the best. It was fun starting out as weak and then gradually getting stronger. That story, to me, felt more like the traditional Suikoden experience.
YES! THIS! I really enjoyed gathering the rag tag bunch of people from the tunnelling dwarf, to the puppeteer with anger issues, and the aristocrat, and bringing them all together to help defend Budehuc.
What a great way to start the weekend 😌 The transition to 3D doesn’t look bad at all but I‘d still miss my beloved 2D graphics. I have no character preference but I’m always fond of chars with the name Hugo 😂
It'll be interesting to see how the HD-2D in Eiyuden Chronicles works out for the entirety of the game. Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising had very linear paths, as did the first Octopath Traveller, so hoping for some more open areas. And what a coincidence that you like the name Hugo. :P
Your capture for these games really makes them look great. Thank you for all of these reviews. So many games experimented when they jumped into 3d. Had to be done, but pairing creative elements in RPGs relies on observations in success and failures of others. difficult to do with long development times.
I didn't realise Rody used a broom as a weapon, until I put him in my party. That was pretty cool. I always love characters with unique weapons. Mel is another stand out in this game. Smashing an enemy with a misbehaving puppet? Yes, please!
I remember getting this from my local flea market and didn't really get very far into it. I think at the time I was still playing Final Fantasy 10 for the bajillionth time and Dark Cloud 1/2 along with Rogue Galaxy and so many others.

@@Venoix Same. I kind of wished Thomas was the focus of the entire game.

I too appreciated the multiple perspectives. I really liked Thomas' chapters.
Thomas, Futch, Hugo, Rody and Cecile were my favorite characters.

Geddoe and his band of Misfits take the cake for me.
Love me a good Suikoden review. What is your favorite game in the series?
Probably either 1 or 2. How about you?
@@Venoix I really love 5 with 2 as a very close second.
