- Looking For Seashells In Orange Beach AL / Found My Biggest Whelk Ever!
One of my shell hunting trips canceled last min. Since I was already at the beach I decided to walk and see what I could find. I'm so glad I did. I found so many incredible shells in 38 degree weather.

I would keep all these too! I favor cockles and olives but the huge pear whelk, baby's ear and barnacles are awesome..
I have never found so many cockles in one morning since moving to Orange Beach 6 years ago! It was an epic Cockle and Barnacle day.
Love the coral and the barnacles
Wow, you got lucky! I usually have to dive for cool shells in that area. I remember years ago all the dead sea stars that washed up there. I took them home and let them dry out outside and a neighbor dog came over in the night and chewed them all up lol. I had planned to bleach them.
Wow! That is the biggest and prettiest pear whelk I have ever seen. Great find. Love the baby’s ear and the cockles.
Thanks Brenda, I was lucky enough to be the only one walking the beach that day.
Wow, beautiful pear whelk! You deserved it for being out there in the freezing cold. What we suffer thru to find the best shells😂
Great video and awesome shells! Shark eyes are my favorites! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by and watching Beth!
6:15 LOVE that GORGEOUS 😍 HUGE pear whelk❣ 🤩💙🐚 & those big pretty purple barnacles! 💜 & the baby's ear! I love 'em all! 😁 You said comment the favorite - 💯 Pear whelk🏆 Awesome finds!
Looking forward to the winter days here at the beach when I'm the only one brave enough to wake up and walk the beach! haha
@@SandMarcusJ LOL ... US TOO! 🤣😂😜 🌬🚤🧥🧣🧤🥶
My favorite are the barnacles. Love all of them!
Biggest Cluster of Barnacles I ever found since moving here.
Beautiful shells. I love them all.
It was a cold morning, but well worth it. Thanks for watching!
This was a wonderful day to go shelling
Luckily I grew up in Western New York and am used to the cold. Was the only one out there.
The pear whelk is amazing! 😢💕💕WV
It's sitting right in front of me. Will always keep that.
Those were some awesome shells 🐚 👏 I like the black olive.
It was a good way to start the year.
Beautiful finds! Awesome pear whelk! They don't get much better than that, although the lightning whelks can get even bigger than that, but usually the color is faded. Awesome baby ear too, they are tough to find!
Thanks for stopping by! Love your videos as well!
Nice video! Love the barnacles!
Thanks Suzan. I was quite thrilled to have come across them!
I have the big seashell in the thumbnail, it was so cool!
Awesome!
My favorite were the barnacles and baby’s ear. I’ve never found those before.
It was the biggest cluster of barnacles I had ever found.
I am obssessed with prickly cockel shells. My husband and I go all over the US South to beaches shelling. We just got back from the Bolivar Peninsula yesterday and at High Island we found conch shells galore which is odd since we hardly ever find them in Florida. The American cockles you found are beautiful!!
Growing up in the north favored me on this day as it was 22 degrees outside and I was the only one brave enough to walk the beach. :)
Wow that's a nice one right off the bat! #WILDKYLE
Great day of shelling... super cold as well.. its gets cold down here.
Awesome finds ! Come shell with me in Navarre FL ! Happy New Year ‼️
Would love to. I'm over in Navarre for photography every now and again.
@@SandMarcusJLet me know when you come this way. Look me up on Facebook.
My favourite is the giant whelk.
It was pretty epic to find it laying on the beach that morning.
@@SandMarcusJ J can understand it.J'm fond of shelles till when j was a little girl.
Happy new year
Same to you Angela!
great stuff as always #WILDKYLE
It was a good cold morning to walk the beach.
Sweet finds! I see you find the same things up in AL that I find down here in FL. That giant whelk was awesome! Do you know if it's a channeled whelk, a pear whelk, etc? Nice baby ear score! That giant shark eye was awesome too and I was really hoping your scotch bonnet wasn't broken. I'm still trying to find one of those. Thanks for sharing!
Folks are saying its a pear whelk but I was thinking ligthening with the line patterns going down the side of the shell. I find complete bonnet shells from mostly digging. I just decided that since I was the only out on the beach to walk it. Glad I did. Love your videos as well. Some point in the near future I'd love to do a video with yah. While I live on vacation every day, its nice to vaca other places as well.
@@SandMarcusJ The lightning whelks are almost always left side opening, so that beauty you have is probably a pear whelk. I’ve never done any digging and I mention that in my next video. Maybe it’s something I should try. Would love to do a video with you! Let me know when you have plans to travel south!

We're heading down there March '23....where is a good place for shelling? I know there are about four good beaches in this area for shells. I'm in northern Wisconsin....no shells! I saw your Scotch Bonnet shell and I only find those in MacArthur State Park....Every time!
This was right after a major hurricane. Haven't seen many good shells since.

Walk the beach! Good exercise!
Thank you for giving us a real good look at the shells you find! Love the big Whelk!
I was super excited to have stumbled across such a gorgeous shell.
Awesome finds, love those barnacle clusters!
I've honestly never found so many barnacles in one day.
Those Barnacles are cool, and then that baby's ear is just too cute! Thanks 4 sharing, God Bless and happy hunting👍
Indeed, best barnacle day I've had.
Great find with the Baby's Ear. That's my fave. They're so delicate & pretty! I hunt a lot on the SC coast & I've only ever found a handful. Great haul you got!
Thanks so much!
Do you ever find shark teeth?
Yes. Every day.
That pear whelk was absolutely beautiful. I also liked the baby’s ear, that first coral piece and the orange lightning whelk. Great finds!
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous finds!! I dream of this! What’s your shelling fb page?
I don't really have one that I update. There is a facebook group that I belong to called "For The Love Of Seashells".. I post in there often.
@SandMarcus hi, we're on our way down there for vacay, and we want to book a shell finding day? my hubby emailed you last week but hasn't heard back yet?...
Sorry, not doing any trips atm. In the middle of moving.
💜😇💜
Thanks
All I've found are small ones. Where are you at?
As the title of the video says, Orange Beach, AL.
Is the shelling always like this on Orange Beach?
This was right after a storm and it was so cold outside I think I was the only one brave enough to walk that morning.
