I've had a 50 inch timcutter 5000 for 16 years, done regular maintenance, still running great,! I just about bought My Ride this year but didn't do it!

Traded up from the Toro 42".
This is a fantastic machine. ♥️👍🏾💯

I’m trying to decide between a 42” and a 50”. May I ask how many square feet you’re mowing? I’m needing to so 23,000. We’re there other reasons you traded up?

Nice review. I recently went out to buy a Timecutter, My Ride Havoc, 54". They only had 1 in stock that had just been returned because it kept throwing the mower belt. I thought it probably just needed some adjustments, but decided to go with a Bad Boy MX Magnum 54" instead. I added a suspension seat and adjustable drive bars. I'm very happy with it, but I still think about the Timecutter.

I have that same mower but it is a 2011 model and doesn't have "My Ride" I love mine. The oil stick is clean and it does not smoke. In 12 years the only maintenance problem I have had to perform is a new solenoid, which was easy. and cheap. Did it myself.

Deck is easy to slide out (3 cotter pins) to work on.
You'll get handy at driving it, one handed after a dozen or so sessions.
I had a 2012 Husqvarna 42" deck before I got my Timecutter last summer, the difference is dramatic.
I mow for my homeowners association (around 1&1/4 acres) that is a 3/4 mile long strip of road frontage, the Timecutter does a fantastic job!

Thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy a zero turn ( for residential use) and will be looking at this model this week. I don't know how much this Toro model is compared to others makes but I'll find out this week. A year ago I purchased new the 21 in walk behind (Toro) and have had problems with the engine (briggs & Statton). Been in the repair shop twice now in the past 2 months.

FYI After running at full throttle it's best to allow it to idle for a minute or so. Check owners manual. That's why they have "cool down" laps in racing. Pertains to most motors as well.

No problem with hoisting the front up as high as possible. I do that all the time with my KAW 23hp, never even one puff of smoke. If you're still uncomfortable, then just wait 10 minutes before starting it.

Regarding the electric brake failing in 10 years or so, it does seem like a guy could fab a linkage system to engage them manually. The brake system looks uber simple.

If you compare the drives, engines, and all the other specs you could have gone with one of the smaller Bad Boys and been at about the same level machine for a lot less than 6000. I almost bought the Toro myself until my brother made me paranoid and I started doing some research. It probably would have worked just fine, but after comparing specs I went with something else.

Watch the front tires- they tend to not hold pressure well. I ended up cleaning tire bead and rim, then coat both edges with a "tire stop leak product like slime" . Had little problem in year since.

Good morning, I have just purchased the small version, a lot cheaper I presume, It doesn’t have the comfy seat on it I’ve noticed, it has been a big learning curve. How to control it, I have some steep soaps which go down to the river, and yes, I’ve actually parked it in the river took me two hours to remove it with electric winch, luckily I did not do any damage, But I think I should’ve gone for a ride on with a steering wheel,
I have around about 7000 m² of land. I might be a bit more. , I was impressed with the, especially as some of my grass is nearly 3 feet high stinging nettles and brambles, as it hasn’t been cut for nearly 3 years properly,
Stay safe keep up the great work , if you get this, let me know how you get on with your steering and how was the bagger? Did you get the grass collector box for it?, France.

Get you a cheap 12v booster/ power bank that has the lead to boost car batteries, found one on Amazon for $20. That should activate the brake. The 2024 model addresses a lot of these concerns?. Just saw a video on yt.

My wife likes to pump the choke button like 5 or 6 times when she starts the mower. I do it the way you are in this video. Yesterday, my wife and I could not start the mower so we left it overnight and were able to restart it in the morning. Do you know if pumping the choke can flood the engine?

    • @DonBeforeDawn
      @DonBeforeDawn  5 місяців тому +1

Its been my experience that having the choke on too long while turning the engine over could flood the engine.
Pumping the choke open and closed has never helped me. There are variables though. Things like temperature, and altitude can change the amount of choke needed.
      Hope that helps.

    • @kenthompson3730
