Brilliant Vid. Inspiring. And definitely someone I could listen to all day. Yes the up grades can be expensive. But you get the point across that nothing should be an obstacle to getting the job done right!!! John 🇮🇪
I have a T5 non facelift from 2007. bougth the OSRAM H4-LED update only 100€ (germany) and the additinal Light you get is UNBELIEVABLE. Its absolutely phaenomenal. no other upgrade für the van light. please note th H4 LED are officially allowed ONLY with the Original VW head lights. Third Party Headlight usually have no certification, even though these LEDs would perfectly work.
@@John1986ATR In germany these LED-Lamps need a certifivation fro EACH (!) vehicle and for each individuel headlight-set. So these LED "Bulbs" are testet ONLY on the original headlight at the VW Transporter. There are many third party headleights for the vehivle, but NONE of them has an official certification by OSRAM. these bulbs Probably work in ANY vehicle with H4/h7 light, so generalyl don't worry, but you have to have them tested by OSRAM and be certified. This is germany ;). Oh any by the way these LED-Light by OSRAM ONLY work if there are classical H4/H7 bulbs in your headlight. They replace them. they won*t work in Headlights who are already LED !
nice one!! Just FYI on the solar setup, i'd consider moving that roof bar so that the panels have full access. If only one cell (out of the usual cells) in one of the panels in your solar array is shaded, the overall output of your system can drop by 30-40%. Much like a clogged pipe or kink in your hose, if the current flowing through your solar panels is interrupted by a shaded cell, the end output is throttled.
Was just about to give same advice , learning a lot about solar at moment and its true whole panel will be dropped down to level of shaded part under cross bar .
Hi...great videos...can you send a link to your upgrade shark aerial please...and do you have a video on fitting it. Sorry just bought my first t6 camper and am learning ! Thanks
ThanQ again Fella for a mega informative video! You have unknowingly helped me realise why my passenger door has been leaking and it was after installing the golf door strip mod thing.. The driver door isn't leaking so I'm wondering if I have to remove the strip or just shorten it at a certain point? ThanX again for your videos 🙏🏽
@@StaycationLifestyle yep it's also slanted where the passengers side is a bit raised.. ThanQ for the other tip 😊 Glad I subbed I knew I wouldn't regret it
2:22 door strip. Your videos are great. The VW Golf door close is a lovely solid sound, I wonder if you can advise what the door strip is called and where to buy it, please. Cheers
I got it from wired campers, however I still get bad signal areas, so I’m not sure if better are available. It was easy, I bought the correct size metal drill bit and had no problems
@@StaycationLifestyle I was on 20s lowered 40mm and the gap was much smaller. I realise yours aren’t 20s but the radius should be the same. A standard van measures 460mm from the centre of the wheel to the top of the arch, may be worth measuring to see what yours is.
Hi there could you tell me what size wheels and tyres fitted they look similar to mine 18 inch wheels but but are 101 weighted and been told I should have a 103 minimum, but can’t get in tyre size which is 235/50/18 ,van is a t32 Regards Andy 6:36
@@andyhibbs5511 How much is it lowered by? Mine was very low when i first got it and there was no problems. Check your clearance on full lock and also at rear with caravan hitched to be sure
I’ve only had van 4 weeks so I’m unsure about details,I think lowered 30 mm and waiting for dealer to try some tyre size variants, I’m getting mixed messages saying101 s are ok some say has to be 103 upwards. I’m concerned about insurance ,Andy
I haven't got window deflectors, but do see the point. So VW door seals don't work, aerial and the lights don't work, my suspension works well, steel wheels are more reliable. My van came with a tow bar and yes it's useful, indeed hard to fit a decent bike rack without one. Roof mounted solar panel, no, you have to park in the sun...and your van is black..so don't leave northern England. The golden rule is if it works right it looks good, so buy a Vivaro, leave it alone (aside from tow-bar and wind guards) and save all that money. One thing you should know, by fitting a roof rack it will cost you a lot more on French toll roads, where the Class 1 limit is 2 metres, I learned that lesson the hard way.
Your roof bars are reducing the efficiency of your solar panel. The reduction in efficiency is not proportuanate with the shadow area they are covering, it is much greater than that.
My roof bar isn’t in that position normally, I slide it, I had been carrying a roof box. I did a video recently showing how roof bars and shadows effect the panels 👍🏼
You make it how you want it yourself. There is nothing wrong with how the vans come from factory. Similar to a house, you buy a house and make it decent by changing it to how you want it.

I’ve got standard halogens on my T6.1 - drove from Cornwall to Scotland overnight and the lights were excellent… didn’t use high beam once.
The 6.1’s are much better. I really want one 😀

Can you explain what you mean? Does this effect non standard LED headlights?

Since this comment, I’ve been waiting for full sun to test it 😂 I will report back when I’ve tested it.

Skateboard deck tape good for bumper protection .

Great to hear I’m helping 😀 See if the drivers side goes as high up the door as the passengers. Or they can leak if parked on a slant

Where did you get the dab aerial? Was it hard to drill through the double skin roof

What wind deflectors are they? Do they require drilling?
I currently have G3. However I will probably be changing for these amzn.to/39Ctcv0
No drilling required, you place clips in the door. Easily fitted
That looks quite high for a 55mm drop !
Do you think? It was previously a lot lower on the springs I had to replace with these

Who.msked the rear bumper protection
What year the van? Thanks

Where did you get your solar panel?
Got it in shop after getting advice from them. They have online shop also www.batteriesandsolar.co.uk
Solar panels don’t work when shaded by roof racks

air suspension... adding complexity and things that go wrong, and go wrong in a big, expensive way...
Absolutely. And if it happens when in the EU, it’s even more of a problem. Not as easy to be serviced/replaced over there

So you pay 20000 k for a van then spend a small fortune to make it decent.

@raycharles3646 it’s called personalising and modifying 🙄
