I can tell you this is a very good and funny to play game! It's the right mix between simulation and arcade.
That's why I enjoy it so much. Nothing more satisfying than getting a Bolt Action rifle and taking someone out with one well placed shot

Swi Noob to me there is no right balance between arcade and simulation. Some people like arcade, some simulators, and some people are in between. I like them all

Not for this game. Its Run through the Jungle which sounds more appropriate for Vietnam
some things you missed:
-tripwire published rs2, while antimatter games developed it
-the combat engineer also has other primary choices. when you choose them you get that primary as well as a willy pete grenade and a stick of C4 to replace your sidearm
-the grenadier also has other primary options, and you get 4 frags to make up for your lack of an m79 - the aussies can also take an m79 with 6 HE rounds and 2 smokes to get an owen SMG as a sidearm (it's the "M79 with Sidearm" primary option, it locks your M79 mags to 6 HE and 2 smokes)
-the SL also gets a sidearm if that class doesn't already issue them one. if someone is given SL while they're already out doing stuff they have to resupply not only to get their SL gear, but in order for teammates to be able to spawn on them (assuming they're a southern SL - northern squadmates can still deploy on tunnels that the last SL placed down). also, only southern SLs get the purple smokes, and binoculars aren't required to lay down marks
-the game DOES NOT assign a commander automatically. they HAVE to sign up for the role, which can cause problems
-ambush/rapid deployment do NOT require a radio to be utilized. the commander can just press N by default at any time
-those 164 or whatever player servers you mentioned ARE *NOT* officially supported. the maximum supported playercount in rs2 is 64 players.

Ive been playing this game for a year and a half and it is one of my favorite fps games at the moment.
You don't know what PTSD is until you played on the Mega Server with 160 players. Grunts and VC mowed down in droves. Heli's (some maps) circling ahead blasting away at everything that moves. The glorious and bloody banzai rushes of dozen of players storming an objective with sheer weight in bloody Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard style. Only complaint is on the objective its so chaotic and there's so many grenades going off and so many people shooting half the time your character is short-sighted, the other half seeing triple. Still the most fun shooting game I've played.

Is there any hacking in this game? I used to play red orchestra 2 and rising storm and many players hacked the be-jezuz out of that game, but there where some great battles and good memories if one was lucky enough to get a match without any hacks.
National Liberation Front was actually South Vietnamese, it was made up by South Vietnamese farmers supported by the North.
I left out that fact simply to try to make it less confusing to the viewer. But you're completely right
True but not entirely. The North had a pretty huge network of sleepers and infiltrators they'd been setting up since before the division of the country which played a big role in making the NLF so effective.

A sizeable portion of the NLF was made up of Northerners.
And the NLF/Viet Cong was made up of roughly three types of combat guerrillas.
The Main Force units who wore green uniforms and floopy "boonie hats". They were often just NVA soldiers who were fighting a more guerrilla style conflict. They were the best trained and most dedicated members of the Viet Cong.
There were also the Regional Forces and local guerrillas. They are usually what we think of when we discuss the Viet Cong. They really have a uniform, they tended to wear civilian clothing with combat webbing, but they are most famous for their "black pajamas" which were just the work outfits that most Vietnamese farmers wore. The Regional Forces had a bit of training and tending to operate across a province and act as additional support for the NVA and Main Force NLF as well as regular harassment and ambushes conducted against South Vietnamese and American troops. While the local force guerrillas could be literally anyone from small children to the elderly and they did things like act as snipers and place booby traps.
It's not easy to really make the distinction between Northerners and Southerners, the country was only split in 1954, and the the communist insurgency in the South began in 1957, with aid and volunteers coming from the North from 1959. The Americans entered the war in 1963, so by the time of the game's setting, the Viet Cong would have been fairly well integrated into the Northern war effort.
Only thing I like more than a WWII setting is Vietnam. The game looks very good and I'm already downloading it in steam while watching this video. Nice review aswell!

Same. WW2 is kind of stale now cause there's so many games about it. Vietnam has only like 5 damn games about it, and 1960's culture is way better then the 1940's.

I found this game 2 months ago after finally accepting pubg was never going to be anything other than the server client nightmare it was from day one. RS2 was a breath of fresh air in every way in comparison, Hit registration is good to great, it runs on mid range hardware and looks amazing, some of the forest environments are a pleasure to wander around in....Shows up Bluehole as a complete disgrace.
This game has enough worth for purchase in my personal opinion. Because the Vietnam war was one of the most brutal battles in the human history after WW2. About 15years ago, one realistic FPS game, Vietcong was developed by Pterodon game studio from Brno, the Czech Republic. It was the awesome game and more realistic FPS than other FPS at the time. And this Rising Storm Vietnam was able to remind to me those days' memory via so similar gameplaying style like this. If I were you, absolute & must buy this good FPS.

Ive been playing this since relase. Games have come and go since. I keep coming back to rising storm 2. Gameplay is solid and the custom servers with 80-100people are crazy fun.

Basically what aroxar said its the perfect balance between sim and arcade shooter. I cant stomach more than 1 or 2 squad/arma/post scriptum matches
I would love for more games to fit that perfect balance of the two.
Insurgency sandstorm looks a little better in my opinion. But its not out right now so you're right it is the best loll
idk Insurgency and Tarkov are some pretty solid shooters....But I do love this game. Super underrated.
This became my favorite FPS as I'm a fan of realism and simulation-type shooters. But there's enough action though.

Like two new factions. In the latest update an original faction is getting a complete rework too, to make it more unique. Loads of new maps have been added too. Plus a new multiplayer mode is in the works. A server campaign like the previous games in the series.
Yeah good thing is that DLCs are only cosmetics, unlike some other compagny *cough* EA *cough*

If you want a no-bullshit and fun experience, this is the game for you, it's Vietnam multiplayer done right. The matchmaking sort of sucks but the key is to get into servers that have a lot of people. Definitely worth it. There's never a dull moment. Only thing you have to worry about are your squad and commander (and team) not coordinating but generally you have people who know what they are doing.
Look out for the multiplayer campaign mode update it was a fan favorite feature in the previous game

A bunch of maps that the north and south fight to take control over a the span of years the war lasted, getting different weapons with the year they were issued.

ThoseAwkwardGamers The details about the game in general, Hardware and your Graphic settings and FPS you’re getting on vsync, and the issue with AMD compared to NVIDIA, which I personally only use NVIDIA’s GPU.
This game reminds me of the old (Joint Operations: Escalation 2004) I used to love playing!
I mostly play FPS games and for some years now only the BF Series, I play BFV, but it’s more of a headache compared to having fun! after BF4 EA/DICE has ruined the franchise! Catering to Console Arcade Mechanics! I need a new game close to BF4 or between Arma and BF.....This game looks like it to me.
I love this game. Love the woodstock experience filter while in battle too and telling people "Faaar oooutt maaan"

Also if you are a squad leader or team leader you can drop rally points and artillery marks by pressing and holding f then either using the left or right click. You can also order your squad to attack a point by holding f and selecting a point while looking at it.

Good vid you forgot to mention that the loach passively temporarily spots enemy players it flys over allowing the commander knowledge of enemy movement or concentration he otherwise wouldn't without a scout plane

Havent played RS2 yet. But i had my best fps expriences in RS/RO2. Not as clusterfuck of controls realism like ARMA, but not casual enough to let you go separate from your squad. 10/10 perfect balance.
this is probably the only realistic fps game that still goes out of it's way to spice things up and have a flavor of crazy LSD fueled personality. this game feels alive, the same cannot be said about Squad or Insurgency, Post Scriptum or AMRA..

RS2 Vietnam is a good pick even for more casual people, and I don't mean casual in terms of skill level but more in terms of dedicated time to the game. It's quite easy to plop down and have an intense and fun gaming session for 20-30 minutes with this game and since, at least in my opinion, all the unlocks you get from leveling up are purely cosmetic it's pretty easy to stay chill when a match does not go so well. I think the only time I ever became disgruntled over being killed in this game is when I died 5 times in a row right after spawning each time, otherwise it is pretty chill.
I'm a slow paced realistic tactical shooter fan , this is one of the few games I really recommend to play

I reccomend this game a lot . However keep in mind that this game is not a fast paste game , you require a lot patience because it's tough to see the enemy and you can get killed very easily and always select your weapons semiautomatic for better accuracy

It’s a great game if you either can’t run battlefield or don’t want to spend that much money. It has everything. Even though I compared this to battlefield it is different and has different modes. Best FPS war shooter game

@@eldenboi8354 I can see why some people wouldn't want to play ARMA 3; it's definitely not for everyone. I like it, but yeah. It also has so many different modes; it may be confusing for newcomers. It's like the Garry's Mod of military games. However, Insurgency Sandstorm is awesome, and I can't wait for Rising Storm 2 to finish downloading. Squad looks great, too.

Rising storm 2 is the best fps experience you will get. It's the perfect balance between realism and fun making it extremely addictive.

I dare not ever get caught playing a game about Vietnam because my Dad always gets super pissed, saying that I shouldn't be having fun for what he had to go through. I feel ashamed, but this looks good.
Did i mention weapons change depending on the side, ths type of unit ( regular, guerrilla, us,aust etc) and the period!!
Nearly forgot there are CHOPPERS! Embark as a pilot to deliver troops or death on the field, sit in sthe sidegunner seat and cover ur pals while they fight!
And for audio there is a 3d audio that allows you to talk with stranger u met in a foxhole!
And ofc traps punji, wire, all this nasty thing charlie loves to put under ur feet!

you forgot 1 major factor... a good 75% of the community are dedicated to their role i.e if your on americans, you'll hear your teammates say in chat: fuck communisim and some plans for building a mcdonalds sprinkled in there... where as if you're on the NLF/VC you'll hear your teammates scream invoice chat in a vietnamese accent: "fuck u gee eye" or "go home gi"
You're very right honestly that is one of the best parts just hearing both teams jeer at each other. The community is really good and rarely toxic.
nice little review. havent played in months and im waiting for DL so here i am watching recent videos... Love the "hardcore" feeling of the game and the pace is also not super run and gun style. once you learn the maps and where people like to go it's fun to try and get big 5+ man ambush. also the atmosphere with thick forest and run down villages is great. you need to be smart and tactical with how you move otherwise it's a quick trip to the respawn screen.
only big issue i dislike about the game play is when a match has max players and there seems to be constant air strike and recon spam. I'd really like a mode without these commander powers taking over so much of the battle.
The commander definitely is a big role and it sucks when you don't have one but he enemy does. Matches without commanders would be interesting and could be a cool feature to turn on and off by server admins
Love how to cosmetics are historically accurate. It kinda bugs me that in CoD WWII there were people in colorful uniforms with silly hats, despite the setting
Yeah these guys cared about the history. They paid respect and even with dlc cosmetics they fit the setting and the time. Really a hidden gem game that everyone on PC should play
They should add the Republic of Korea.. look up their contribution in the war. They were by far the most brutal compared to the NVA/PAVN. Literally My Lai massacre in every village with suspected VC. The North literally avoided them at all cost, every engagement with them resulted in complete annihilation, even with insane numerical advantage.
I was looking at their Dev roadmap recently and I believe they mentioned or someone suggested the same thing for a later update
They should update the first person model. Its hard to tell what team your in at times. The us should get a watch or bandage wraps while the Nva could get leaf foolailge on their wrists. Something like that. Btw this was a good review. Wish I had a good PC to play this with you.

What Battlefield should have been, basically. I will be into this game for a while.
Runs at about 50-60 fps on my R5 2400G on low-medium settings.
I have dips to 30-50 fps on occasion, but it mostly depends on the map.

I Hope they add proper matchmaking, where you get matched with people who are exactly good as you, i hate getting sniped by a squad of +50 level people
The first time i played it i didnt know what to do i was playing supermacy all the time now im addicted and playin territories only
Honestly I'm not surprised. I think when I first started playing that I had to the same notion. Territories is awesome and I can't wait for campaign

It was a pretty good video overall but I felt like you missed some minor things, just stuff I guess a veteran might know, like if you're a SL and you pick a class that doesnt normally spawn with a pistol you will get one for free

This game reminds me to the first Black Ops game. It's pretty similar. This one is a combination of battlefield bad company and black ops 1.

I've played this game for 3500 hours now. Recently, I gave a try to old RO2, thinking I would be repelled by the outdated graphics and gameplay. Actually, gameplay is a lot better in RO2. Artillery barrages, smokes screens, suppression, aiming, campaigns, a lot of things feel so much better in RO2. That came as a shock to me. All in all, the only good thing RS2 Vietnam has over RO2, is heli support and character customization. The most striking difference between the two games is hit reg. Hit reg in RS2 is unpredictable and slow. You often have to unload a full clip on an easy target just to make sure the game will register it. That never happens in RO2.
RO2 is great and I played every day for years, but it has some issues. I don't like how close you zoom in with iron sights, the bots sucked, Germans were always stacked with the best players, squad 1 and 2 were always full while 3 and 4 were empty, and the bleed out mechanic was kinda goofy. I loved being able to carry two heavy machine guns and a stocked machine pistol AND a backup pistol with tons of ammo and 4 grenades making you into basically the terminator of Stalingrad. Good times.
I still prefer RO2 over RS2 because of many reasons.
They've just released MP campaigne mode, if only you waited just a bit longer xd. Still a sollid review tho. Apart from the aged RO2 and RS, I honestly don't know which game can compete with RS2.

Is the game a 100% adrenaline rush like Battlefield or are there moments of tension where your just walking in the jungle and hoping not to get ambushed (kind of like vietcong but online?)

I'd suggest Rising Storm 2 as of now because a large portion of RO2 playerbase have migrated to RS2, meaning more people playing and easier time finding a match.
I have Red Orchestra 2 and the first rising storm and they're lots of fun and would recommend them but the only thing I remember not really liking is that your teams are limited to a certain number of people who can have certain roles. So like for example you can have a team of 12 but of the 12 only 2 can be machine gunners. So if you mainly play as a machine gunner and only really level up that class you're fucked if all the slots are taken.
Well learn another class. That's the point.

I read that some servers can be s problem by installing adware and doing other stuff. Is this still something to worry about? I love my pc very much so the last I want is to crap installed on it. Thank you
In my experience I haven't found any adware that installs in the background. I would make sure that the servers you join have Easy Anti Cheat enabled. Heavily modded servers can require additional software to be installed. In most cases it would be harder to find those servers. The only out of the ordinary adjustments I've seen made to servers is custom music playing and a banner when joining a server. However even that is rare. You should be safe as long as you use a bit of common sense and caution when joining a server for the first time. Non of my Anti Malware or Anti Virus software trigger during gameplay or server joins.

its a great game, I really like the territory maps and the feeling of being under fire is great. That said, i think transition to ADS is far to quick and aim basically sway free so it often boils down to a game of whack a mole. I stopped playing it for a while ut may come back to it just to see whats going on.
