i feel like no one ever notices or talks about the fact cinderella is actually more of a strawberry blonde close to an auburn as opposed to a true blonde
Also her dress is silver not blue, which they changed for marketing cuz it looked like a wedding dress, makes sense but I never understood why they changed her hair color, is cuz blondes look better in blue?
@@justanobody864 I always thought it was so strange that they did that, though. I mean, Aurora is a platinum blonde for sure in the movie. Maybe because of the dress color fiasco (?) 😂 Strange. It would be cool if they did a special set with completely movie accurate dolls, Belle in her gold dress, etc.
You're totally right; dress is silvery, too. Honestly I don't really care for the sharp blues and yellows of all these Cinderella products. It doesn't hold a candle to her original movie glamour, imho.

I think they were better in the 90's, before they created the official "Disney Princess" brand and were individual releases coinciding with their theatrical releases/re-issues. Though the biggest appeal to me with the Mattel Princess dolls is that they could wear Barbie fashions without looking weird.
I totally agree with you, with every Disney movie released in the 90s, Mattel did accompanying dolls and toys which were so much better in quality and appearance than the 2000s or even Hasbro!!
I also have to agree with the 90s dolls, I have had a couple of my own and honestly they are such great quality. I had quite a few growing up through the years.
Here we have to say that every Dollline was better back than. Look at Barbie. Quality Clothes and a Bunch of Accessoires. Now little to no accessoires and Clothes that are pronted on cheap fabric. If Mattel had still the Disney Princess they would also be as cheap as they where before Hasrbo took over. Or even worse.
and they made almost every female lead and hero!! Kida, Esmeralda, Megara and Jane; also Milo, Hercules, Tarzan and Phebus. they went all the way whit the movie releases!!!
Nowadays, the Disney Store definitely makes the best princess dolls in my opinion. I am really not a fan of Hasbro's dolls. But gosh, the quality at the Disney Store has gone up so much. And I feel that their face molds nowadays are REALLY good
Honestly, I only like the Disney Store Disney Princess dolls. Both the modern Mattel Disney Princess dolls and the Hasbro ones feel so cheap in comparison to the Disney store ones, especially in outfit quality, articulation, and face mold accuracy. I know the Disney Store ones tend to sell out faster and become more rare, but if you can get your hands on them (people who live close to a Disney Store are so lucky and have such an advantage with this), they are completely worth it and look just like the characters, whereas the Hasbro and Mattel ones feel cheap, lazy, and don't completely resemble the characters.
Kinda funny really, folks who collects the Disney store one will tell you that Disney version cheapens overtime as well, the outfits will never get into the same quality as the first release for the playline, their only saving grace is the dolls resemble the character a lot more (As I said, *resemble* , because Disney cant ever get the Princesses face right for the 90s and the before Princesses correct, Rapunzel's face til today never even resembled her face in the original movie, not even her body match the character by even the tiniest comparison, weirdly *only* Mattel has gotten the perfect sculpt for Aurora's face in their final release of the character in doll form), as well as the LE dolls being way more expensive than they need to be
I think that Mattel's best with Disney was in fact the 90's. The collector dolls especially. Even playline dolls like the ones I had for Ariel, Esmeralda and Pocahontas were lit

Snow white a sad character, she's the matriarch of the Disney princesses but due that she wasn't allowed to grow like the other princess she's more like Betty White's character Rose from Golden girls. As proven in ralph break the internet.
The Mattel 90’s dolls>>>> and with these in comparison, the modern hasbro has too much molded on clothes for me 😬 and I just prefer the older more mature faces
I don’t love the play line from either hasbro or mattel - BUT the Mattel adult collector dolls (I think the line was called Classic Collection or Signature collection? Depending on where you lived?) are 100x more beautiful than the hasbro weird eyelash dolls. The only one from that line I wasn’t crazy about was Ariel, but they were in the most incredible display boxes, and they did the princes and villains really well, too. They did have plastic molded on gloves but for display that wasn’t really an issue.
oh man, i remember watching you and your kid all the time when i was younger!! here i am now, a nonbinary teen that still has an addiction to dolls cuz why the hell not 😎
Good points. Sometimes people are biased due to "nostalgia-goggles." I think it would be nice if Disney Princesses did more interesting lines like steampunk, gothic, D&D-inspired, etc. But it's perhaps one of those "canon authenticity" things where Disney doesn't want their characters doing anything out of canon...or they want it simple and movie-based for young kids...it's truly boring though haha. Aesthetically I don't care for the "comfy princess" concept, but you have convinced me of the positivity of the concept for characterization. Maybe they need to make a "comfy princess squad" show where they all live in a castle together or go to "Princess School" or something to make them more nuanced. As far as whose "idea" the squad was, I would think toy rights owners would have been consulted in preparation for releasing dolls alongside or soon after the film (although I have no idea about the movie/doll release timeline).
So mattel puts glue in the heads to hold the hair together, over time it melts and seeps through the head and gets all in the hair, but also mattels heads r really nice and soft, hasbro puts glue in the heads, but they r rock hard, but also hasbro is so cheap, they don't put much glue in the head, so hair loss can be an issue, so a way to fix a glue seepage issue is baby powder, but it all in the hair in the roots, and leave it there for a few, to 24 hours, and then wash it out with COLD water and condition and you r good! :D
Even though I was born in 1989, I loved that you brought up Dokken in your video because my dad was a huge fan of them when I was little. I remembered as a kid, the '90s version of The Mickey Mouse Club did a cover of Dokken's In My Dreams and I was weirded out because how different the Disney-fied version sounded.
One of my favorite Disney Princess Mattel dolls growing up was always Ariel, and her facial mold didn't give the character justice, but she actually did look alot more like Ariel than the Hasbro doll. But that's just my opinion
I have the 1990's Belle and then a Disney store 2020 Belle. I love them both. While 2020's is more movie accurate in the face, I liked the semi-realistic face of the 90's Belle as well because not only can she wear Barbie clothes, but she came with both the blue village dress and the gold-yellow ball gown. I am not a fan of any of the Hasbro Belle dolls except for the comfy squad dolls. Great video.
I mean this are a Mattel playline vs some of the other dolls which are more collectors and they look similar. And i think that is a problem because Hasbro's collectors dolls should look fancier and have more detail than the playline ones
I’ve met squishmellows, why are all my dreams not coming true. Also I totally sometimes wear my TMJD night guard in public. Sometimes I don’t want my jaw to be sore.
To be honest my favorite Disney princess movie was Sleeping Beauty. Only because I like Prince Philip at that hero who actually fought to save the princess. But as an adult I'm all about the villain, Maleficent for the win. But I do like Cinderella 3, only because it gave us a crazy Prince Charming who jumps out of windows and professed his love to a girl whom he pronounces her name wrong because of mice.
You're the first person that I heard that said the live action mulan was okay hahah everyone is enraged on how they really didn't do it properly, Xiran Jay Zhao literally made a whole youtube channel just to make a video about everything that was culturally wrong and right in mulan, and she was enraged during most of the video because it was mostly worng hahah
I gave it a chance but I didn’t really like it. I thought the aesthetic looked good but the plot wasn’t as smooth as the original. Plus it’s too far for Disney to make cultural interpretation mistakes.
Omg I have the Belle!! I think I got it in 2009 for Christmas. I still have her but I lost on of the shoes, and the crown, and the dress is hanging together by a thread. But I still love here 😊
I think the general trend of doll line seems to be that they start strong with high quality, and gradually they cut more and more corners. I remember when Hasbro first snatched the Disney contract from Mattel, the general sentiment at the time seemed to be that people were stoked and people loved the more animation-accurate head sculpts. Now, a few more years down the track, perhaps Hasbro are doing the same as Mattel and the quality has dipped, and people are just remembering the Mattel peak. I dunno! It's definitely interesting. When I'm window shopping, I think the Hasbro dolls look cute, but I never bought one. I'm mostly interested in the Disney Store dolls, but they're almost impossible to get in Australia. Love your videos! ☆
Is the snow white movie not so great? Yes. It was also made in 1937 and is one of the first animated films ever made. It's the only first animated film that people occasionally watch. We can give the movie some slack, lol. There are not many movies from 1937 people still watch these days.
I bought two Hasbro Snow white and Belle with magical dresses. They're pretty fun to me where their skirts change with cold water. I also had the movie belle and mulan. Not interested in hasbro princess dolls anymore.
Mattel did some good Disney dolls, but they totally failed with the Frozen dolls. The clothes were awesome, but the dolls looked bad. Especially Anna, she looked crazy. You should totally try to find and review the Simba (the brand, same that do the Steffi Love dolls) Disney dolls. Not sure if they were sold in the US though. They made awesome dolls. I have Cinderella but sadly she have the mismatched coloured bodyparts now. Har body has yellowed but her arms, legs and head is still normal. She has been stored in her box all the time, so I dont know why it happened. I dont know if TYCO made other Disney dolls or if they only did The little Mermaid dolls. They did make awesome Ariel dolls. But maybe I just think that bc I grew up with that Ariel. The Mattel dolls you got looks beautiful but they do need a repaint. They look more like Barbie and her friends are doing cosplay. Lol. But the clothes are looking amazing. Please do more old disney dolls. Rock On!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🤘🏻👽🇸🇪 //Nekoboys Toys and Dolls

I actually think the coding Belle doll is cool. When I was a kid I didn’t have any interest in things like that because I loved fashion and feminine things so much. I think combining coding and a "girly" toy together would make more girls interested in coding that maybe wouldn’t have thought to code before.
I love how they put the"shes wearing a Sparky dress and will soon meet her true love" thing on Mulan even though that dosnt make any sense for her especially considering what happens when she wears that dress at the beginning of the movie.
The quality may be the same, but I still prefer the Mattel faces. That shitty "the only thing that matters for girls is twoo wove!" message notwithstanding, I just think the faces LOOKED better with them. Hasbro's princesses line has never figured out how to overcome the weird uncanny valley effect they have to me, and I'm a doll collector, so uncanny valley isn't that big of a deal for me under most circumstances! :X

I love the Mattel Cinderella, she looks very serene. But I love the Hasbro Cinderella with a scooter as well, she's so adorable
Instant sub when you said you never need to grow up
Snow white a sad character, she's the matriarch of the Disney princesses but due that she wasn't allowed to grow like the other princess she's more like Betty White's character Rose from Golden girls. As proven in ralph break the internet.
In my opinion.. the best mass marketed Disney princesses were the original two pack Ralph breaks the internet dolls
They did have plastic molded on gloves but for display that wasn’t really an issue.
oh man, i remember watching you and your kid all the time when i was younger!! here i am now, a nonbinary teen that still has an addiction to dolls cuz why the hell not 😎
Belle’s and Snow White’s face are super cute and elegant 😔💛
Friend: *shows me a Disney princess doll*
Me: Ok and?
Friend: *shows Ariel doll*
Me: 😱😱😱 ITS BEAUTIFUL I WANT ITTTT
You should review the 1999-2007 Mattel Disney princess dolls.
what’s crazy is that at a local walgreens in colorado i found a monster high doll AND mattel princesses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this video was SO good. thank you for the amazing doll content :D
Good points. Sometimes people are biased due to "nostalgia-goggles."
I think it would be nice if Disney Princesses did more interesting lines like steampunk, gothic, D&D-inspired, etc.
"back in the olden days you had to bring your own" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved the nails!!
This video had me laughing out loud. Especially the Cinderella part 😂.
You are so funny! I love watching your videos when the world seems totally completely insane-like these days! Thank you for being sooo silly!
Apple white watching Melissa drag her moms movie: ✋👁👄👁🤚
Even though I was born in 1989, I loved that you brought up Dokken in your video because my dad was a huge fan of them when I was little. I remembered as a kid, the '90s version of The Mickey Mouse Club did a cover of Dokken's In My Dreams and I was weirded out because how different the Disney-fied version sounded.
Oh man!!! I need to find that version!!!!!!
Ok so your opinion is so right what you say about any doll is always right always and your channel is amazing
I’ve met squishmellows, why are all my dreams not coming true. Also I totally sometimes wear my TMJD night guard in public. Sometimes I don’t want my jaw to be sore.
I NEED THAT SHIRT IN MY LIFE😍
To be honest my favorite Disney princess movie was Sleeping Beauty.
Love that monster high draculaura shirt
Currently rewatching ABCs Once Upon A Time
Melissa: Picks up Aurora and Mulan
“I ship it”
Me too Melissa me too!
Plus it’s too far for Disney to make cultural interpretation mistakes.
it was awful:(
Cinderella was magical
I still think Mattels were better by a bit (tho their 90s we're so good)
I love you soo much you are the funnest person I watch and I love your shirt
Snow White looks like the 70s Happy Family Dolls
Omg I have the Belle!! I think I got it in 2009 for Christmas. I still have her but I lost on of the shoes, and the crown, and the dress is hanging together by a thread. But I still love here 😊
Edit (UA-cam won’t let me edit for some reason) *her
😅🤣😂🤣😂 you always do you videos and do laundry 🤣😂🤣 but this time was so funny hear the sound .
Ily and binge your channel 🥺 thanks for another video !!!🥳
i had all of these dolls except for aurora. childhood nostalgia +2000000
Truth.
I like the faces of the mattel dolls more. I think they're closer to the characters from the animations, without Bell :) Greetings !
Rock On!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🤘🏻👽🇸🇪

To be Honest, I’m a Doll Collector, and, I really recommend the Mattel Ones, just cause They look more appropriate for Kids, I am not saying that the others aren’t, but uhm you know, The Lashes and Stuff on the Other ones, are just, I dont think it is “perfect” thing for everybody, but I mean there Good, I just recommend, The Mattel Ones. 🥰
This was so fun😂
U made my day. Thanks🥰
P.s. I'm one of those weirdos that like the first mattel princesses...I'm second guessing now the mouth guards 😂😂
In my opinion the best Disney Princess dolls are from the Disney Store 😀
Can everyone else FEEL the hair and the squishy head, or is it just me?
Luv u sm Melissa! Ur so pretty and I miss Kaiden sm! ❤ but I like mattel much better then hasbro! Especially with the frozen dolls! ❤
Hey! Please refrain from using his dead name. It's just Kaiden now. I could be wrong but I believe that's what Melissa said before as it can be triggering not just for him but for others. Thanks and stay safe.
@@jennifersheehan1866 ok sorry! No worries!
I actually think the coding Belle doll is cool. When I was a kid I didn’t have any interest in things like that because I loved fashion and feminine things so much. I think combining coding and a "girly" toy together would make more girls interested in coding that maybe wouldn’t have thought to code before.
Loving the shirt
Snow White looks like a classic anime character with those big starry eyes😆
i believe that peek Mattel's Disney Princesses were the late 80's/90's ones. the 00's Princesses were when the brand started to fell out.
It was the 90's Matel Disney dolls that where the best. I still have them all.
i was laughing sm while watching this pls-
I love how they put the"shes wearing a Sparky dress and will soon meet her true love" thing on Mulan even though that dosnt make any sense for her especially considering what happens when she wears that dress at the beginning of the movie.
My sisters had some of the late 90’s Disney princesses, Belle and Jasmine, if I recall. They were pretty good.
Yes Dokken! I love your videos 😊
Ps Just from looks alone I like the Mattel ones much more
