Whenever people say "Ariel gave up her voice for a man!" I have to wonder if they even watched the movie. Like it was said in the video, she wanted to be human long before she saw Eric...He was just a bonus. Also the "Belle has Stockholm Syndrome" theory makes me roll my eyes
i completely agree. i’d say the worst offender when it comes to this is the blanket statement that people make on the princesses pre-disney renaissance, saying that those movies are “anti-feminist”. the only reason they say that is because the protagonist’s strengths are seen as feminine. which is another way of saying the only way a female protagonist can be feminist is if she has masculine traits… which simply isn’t true. snow white’s ability to nurture is her greatest strength. compassion is what got cinderella through difficult times. idk about you, but those are traits that i consider admirable. i think people also forget the time in which these movies were made… the 1950’s idea of a “strong woman” is very different today; but that doesn’t mean she’s not strong. women can be feminine, girly, soft-spoken and STILL be feminist. female protagonists don’t have to slay dragons and fight wars to be considered strong female leads.
I'm more a fan of the elegant feminine princesses personally. I love the fancy dresses and beautiful way they used to be made. My top three fav princesses are Aurora, Cinderella and Tiana. Great video :)
I love Ariel and rapunzel mainly Rapunzel because I just always loved the fantasy of having like 800 feet of hair ! You know what I mean. I mean outside my house I literally have a 10foot long hair extensions hanging from my upstairs window and that's only a decoration lol
I feel like Alice, Tinkerbell, Elsa, and Anna are the official "unofficial " Disney princesses. They have their own merch, but they still get included with the princesses from time to time. I would say Tink is the most frequently used.
I really like them interacting with each other, I think its really sweet. It encourages strong friendships i think because in a lot of these movies the girls don't have friends.
i was looking for this comment! i so agree! i think the action poses are great but the change with the biggest impact is most definitely the princesses interacting with one another. we don’t have any princess female friendship films! yes, we have a movie about two sisters but that’s not the same as a friend group/duo. i would say one of the most defining traits for women is their ability to create and maintain authentic friendships. i always loved Bratz as a young girl and now that i’m older i truly feel like it’s shaped my perception on women and friendships. the barbie brand did a good job portraying female friendships in their movies like Barbie & the Diamond Castle too. the disney company has been around for almost a century and we haven’t even gotten a disney princess movie based solely on friendship! i know they’ve made several movies focused on female empowerment but it’s time we give those movies the Frozen treatment and remind girls that strength comes in numbers💕
This video is a treat for all of us Disney Princess fans. Lots of good information and history. I do like both aspects of the brand, for example, I do love the "princessy" side, but I also love how inclusive the brand has become. Princess Jasmine has been my favorite princess since Aladdin came out. I remember the first years of the Disney Princess brand that Jasmine was featured about half the time while Pocahontas and Mulan were almost always absent. Sometimes trying to find any Jasmine products was like a treasure hunt. If you found anything featuring Mulan or Pocahontas then it was like winning the lottery. 🙂👸👸🏼👸🏾
For real! Pocahontas was my favorite, and it was beyond rare finding anything Pocahontas related. I'm so glad she's much more equally featured as the others, and has her own stuff. Hope this continues.
I'll never understand why people use that as a gotcha? Like her I Want song is literally her talking about wanting to walk, learn about human things, and feel respected/independent in ways she doesn't under her protective father's thumb.
My issue is that she risked her life, her father, and the entire fate of the sea on the slight off chance that she could make the prince fall for her. It was a very risky and reckless move, and she gets rewarded for it, instead of learning her lesson to not throw caution to the wind to make her dreams come true. I never thought it makes girls think they need to change for a man, but I did think it could teach children to be reckless.
@@KittyOfChess She didn't know Ursula would try to take over the sea though. As far as she knew, Ursula was just going to take her voice and possibly turn her into a part of the living garden. And, again, Eric was more of a bonus to getting to be human, plus an extra "screw you" to her human-hating dad. Ariel thought she was risking only her own life, no one else's.
She literally brought up that she planned to swim up to his castle and have Flounder get his attention despite her being a mermaid. Her dad destorying everything she loves also didn't put her in the best mental space. On a side note, I find it so funny how Keira Knightly (and Idina Menzel) say this stuff about Ariel on a surface level when they both played messy Disney characters too (one trying to destroy an entire kingdom through militant force while ostracizing her good friend and the other almost freezing a whole kingdom to death because she doesn't know how to cope with her emotions nor give her sister the time of day).
I always loved Snow White! I was a little girl who didn’t like pink-but loved everything else feminine. Her short, jet black hair, blue yellow and white dress was everything to me! The red bow was the icing, sprinkles and candle on the cake 🎂 🧁 😊
The colors of Snow White's dress were "wrong" in the early merchandise because Disney hadn't decide what colors her outfit would be until a couple of weeks before the movie went in premiere..Ofc all the merchandise and promo materials had to be made in advance and at that time they would go with the colors you can see on the original movie poster and in most of the merchandise released before the movie came out: yellow/white bow, red/brown bodice, yellow sleeves with white and yellow dress.😊
The Disney Princesses magazine really brought me back! I used to read the comics in them as a kid and I remember having a poster of Belle in her red winter dress on my wall... I had totally forgotten about them until now!
in France this magazine was only on sale in department stores (they have disappeared now) I remember having had as a gift super snowballs with miniature princesses inside 😍
I always loved Disney Princesses! I want more Disney Princesses. I think the new Mattel Disney dolls have cute faces, but I wish they gave them the made to move Barbie bodies. Also, Ariel has always been my favorite Disney Princess. ❤
When I young, I adored Aurora, as at the time, the idea of beauty was tied to being blond. While I still like Aurora, I realized hating myself for having dark hair was nonsense, society be damned. Now I love Snow White, on top of being attractive, she is incredible kind in her story. The idea of being kind even in stressful situations is something more people should strive for.
@@CaseyCartman Disney actually sold a golden princess doll set of Belle, Jasmin, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. They’re extremely rare and there’s only pictures of them. There is a eBay listing but it’s only the crowns…
To answer your question as to why they look like children: I'm pretty sure back in the day toddler dolls were very popular! Madam Alexander is a toddler doll brand as well (I also think Aurora might be based on an earlier design? As it took much longer to make dolls and movies back then). The fashion doll of Ariel also looks like a child because Ariel... Was a child 😅
Many dolls that came out pre-2000 looked like children. The reason why many toy manufacturers began making dolls that looked like teenagers, was that they figured out that many little girls liked playing with their older sister's dolls, which often looked like teenagers, so these companies figured that if they made the dolls look older, little girls would start playing with them sooner, and end up playing with them longer!
@@myra0224 i see what you mean! but there’s a few dolls that look like an aged-down version of ariel. they have completely different body types which was probably the most “mature” looking part about ariel. one of the dolls looks almost exactly like Kelly, Barbies little sister so it is a bit misleading imo.
The whole Disney Princess brand thing is actually pretty interesting to think about as a Kingdom Hearts fan. The first game came out in 2002 and one of the plot points was that the villains needed "7 Princesses of Heart" (6 Disney Princesses, then Kairi, one of the original characters of the game). The 6 ended up being Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, and, interestingly enough, Alice. Why they went with Alice instead of Ariel I don't know, but could be for two reasons; 1. When you went to a Disney world, a character from that world would be your ally in battle. In the first game, all of them were male except for Ariel so maybe they wanted her so they could have one female battle ally. 2. The Princesses of Heart are not supposed to have any "darkness" in their heart, so maybe lying to her dad and having ambition to go to another world was considered darkness? idk It's just interesting to think how much branding may have influenced certain aspects of the Disney Princesses in those games. You also mentioned how early on, the Disney Princesses could never interact with each other, and even though Kingdom Hearts was billed as a big "Disney Crossover" I noticed how the characters from each of the individual worlds never really interact with each other.
A reasoning I’ve heard as to why Jane isn’t often incorporated is because of the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs who wrote Tarzan is very particular with how Tarzan is merchandised.
Disney glittering princesses at 12:57 were my childhood! The cinderella was one of my very first dolls! I might have owned Belle as well, but she may have been from the similar era of my snow white (but she had red jewels on her dress)
Love these informative videos! The history of the franchise and progression of the branding are so fascinating since they reflect the culture of their time, especially that presented to children. And the MCU analogy is so fitting lol
I love these scripted deep dives, please definitely do more, diving into more doll histories. I agree I love the sparkly glamorous Disney Princess branding, I think Disney just has to do a better job of understanding that it fits some princesses and not others but still try to find a way that they can all still look cohesive and respectful. I feel as if Disney is ALWAYS reactionary with their branding and always decides to lean too far in any direction, instead of getting ahead of it the criticism and setting an example. Also please god, can they cut down on the number of lines they release so we can get more fabric in these skirts. These boxy dresses with barely any gather and molded-on painted tops are hurting my soul!! Also, I forgot how frickin BEAUTIFUL Jasmine dolls were in the 90's. I remember wanting them so badly as a kid.
Okay with your last comment you won me over. I hate it when people talk about Ariel without even watching the movie, she's my favourite for sure. I have such a deep connection with that movie ❤️
can u make a video listing all the disney princesses made by mattel ? and disney characters in general ? maybe separate videos for every disney film that had a barbie doll made for them
It’s not the nostalgia goggles, the 90’s princess dolls are the best of all the princess dolls and even the Disney store ones do not compare even with the extra articulation ❤❤❤
Hello! greetings from Mexico I understand your points, we are both the same, princesses are a good role to follow, not because they use glitter or are corny does it mean that they are bad teachings, each one has its purpose and it is not always to look for a man but for his freedom, but people insist on seeing the superficial! I loved your video, I hope to see more videos about disney doll stories
Such a great and informative video! Your videos have always been great, but the quality just keeps getting better and better! I also agree that the princesses can be both - both in poofy dresses sometimes and more flamboyant, and also be strong and intelligent. As for my favorite princess, I don't have one. I love them all so much, since they're all so diverse. However, the one I relate to the most is Rapunzel! I have a million hobbies, I'm fascinated by everything, and let's just leave the childhood out for another time. ;)
Well I love all the Disney Princesses but my most number 1 favorite Disney Princess is Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, I love her pretty pink dress and I love her blonde hair, I really love pink so ya ❤
I think that even though Disney's idea of changing movies names was to be more "gender neutral" it actually helps to put the focus on the whole history rather than only the princess. Also with the poster showing all the characters. The 3D era brought some interesting male characters.
Some Disney films with titles like "Frozen" or "Tangled," were named such because the producers felt that giving them the title of a feminine name, such as "Rapunzel" or "The Snow Queen," would only really be of interest to girls and women. But these other titles, on the other hand, also made men more likely to watch because the film didn't appear to be quite so feminine at first glance!
My favorite Disney princesses are Ariel, Cinderella and Snow White My favorite era of the brand was the 2000s “the golden age” where the princesses were represented in their classic looks with a magical fairytale background My favorite dolls are the ones made by Simba, they are the best 2000s Disney dolls in my opinion, they were so beautiful, movie accurate and good quality, amazing playsets, far better than anything Mattel was making at the time Simba was inclusive, in 2006 they included Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan in the doll line while Mattel still focused on the 5 white princesses 90s Mattel dolls are beautiful but the classic white princesses weren’t very accurate to the movies, while Jasmine and the other heroines of the Disney Renaissance were very well made and accurate The Hasbro dolls are the worst, they are ugly, that disproportioned cartoonish look wasn’t good for the Princesses, the clothes were insanely cheap and NOT movie accurate at all! The new Mattel dolls for 2023 have very good face molds, yes they are equally cheap with molded on tops but i think that these are the dolls of the transitory fase, I hope that in the next years they will make them with removable clothes The Disney Store dolls are good, in general they are the best ones, but their design wasn’t great sometimes I hope that this year they will upgrade the classic dolls making them movie accurate
My favorite Disney Princesses are probably Elsa (I know Frozen is its own franchise though) and Belle. Ever since I was a kid, I liked Belle because she liked to read and had brown hair. Elsa later replaced her as my favorite though because I could relate to her on a more personal level and she is a comfort character for me. I literally have 6 Elsa dolls in my collection because she is just so special to me. I also find it really sad to see how much the quality has gone down on the Mattel Disney Princess dolls over the years. Its interesting how they used to have more high quality dresses back then and when I was a kid, but now they are more aimed at kids and have annoying things like molded on tops and limited articulation.
Tarzan did well enough at the Box Office...and that´s not counting VHS and DVD sales. If anything, it had to do with your second point regarding Jane looking too similar to Jane. In fact, for that same reason Aurora is much more known for her pink dress when she wore the blue color much more. Add to that the right issues with the property (I barely know about it but seems to be that Disney isn´t allowed to merch the movie and that´s why there´s nothing regarding it). As for Esmeralda it had more to do with how adult themed The Hunchback of Notre Dame is. The Disney Heroes line is a shame it never came to happen. There were some prototypes of action heroes for Hercules and Prince Phillip that were INCREDIBLE! The Disney Villains line is incredibly popular with adults. ...the Disney Pets line was just pushing it. That is, unless the marketed it at very young kids...but they had Winnie Pooh for that. PS Just came to mind that by own rules of Disney then Kida (Atlantis) should be in the line by being born royal and Megara by being married into royalty.
I love both versions of the marketing for the line, but I do kind of prefer the newer thing where they interact. From an artistic perspective, you can do so much more with this concept. I may be in the minority, but I actually like the new Mattel dolls. I may not care for the molded tops, but the face sculpts are pretty good, the colors are on point, and from what I can tell they have pretty good rooting for play line dolls. Not Disney Store quality, but better than Hasbro. Belle is probably my favorite princess. I wish that they would market her in the green dress she wore when Beast gave her the library at least once. It is always either the yellow iconic gown, her blue town dress, or the pink gown. Once or twice the Christmas dress (I love this one so much) but the green one has never turned up that I have seen. Keep being awesome and have a safe year.
Absolutely agree about them interacting! And also, I have mixed feelings for the new dolls as, I wouldn't say I like them due to the moulded tops and how that affects the designs but the face sculpts are the most accurate I think I've seen, especially for a character like Rapunzel who almost always has the complete wrong head shape.
I don't know if someone mentioned already, but I think the reason why Jane was removed from the line (as well the movie disappearing from merch) is because Disney's contract with the estate ended a few years later and thus they can't really use Tarzan anymore.
Really enjoyed this video. I really loved the disney princess magazines. I actually had some shown. It's a shame they took esmarelda out but I feel she could be added on again. I can't actually remember them having meg in the line though. I agree with you that the 90s Mattel dolls were definitely the best they are fantastic. My favourite princess is Ariel as I've always identified with her since i was a kid. She always deemed of achieving her dreams and went out to achieve them. Snow white and Aurora are also my favourites as I just think they are so fabulous and Iconic. I love their films individually and they ate both sweet caring and kind. My other top favourite princesses is Anastasia I know she's not made by disney but now they own her I hope they make more merch for her.
Yess, the Disney Princess magazine! I loved that and the plastic jewellery it sometimes came with. Cinderella was my favourite and I honestly think she still is, especially since I think the 2015 Cinderella is the only good live action remake they've done so far. But at both of the character and parade auditions I've been to I went for the Anna or Rapunzel approach when asked to choose a princess to animate as, because their childlike exuberance comes more naturally to me.
Loved this video! I never realized Esmeralda was once part of the group. I am very glad Raya was chosen. I think I remember one time Elena being added to the group but then never seeing her again. 😢
22:44 I honestly think that Raya is not that popular because the film was released during Covid, and that is why in many cities/countries the film was not shown in theaters, only on Disney Plus.
This was a great video. (Bonus history lesson!) I remember a lot of these doll lines. I still have the Belle Dancing Princess, and last I checked, the stand still played music. I had been getting my niece the Sparkling Princess line. I was disappointed with how hard it was to find Jasmine, let alone Pocahontas. I described it to someone as Snow White was easier to find as even she was a hard find on store shelves. I like how you brought up the change in artwork. This was something that I did not like, since that was where the change in Cinderella's hair style came from, among other things. I kept asking myself why the everyday dress a couple of the girls wore was all decked out like a ball gown. And completely agree with the decline in quality. It's sad that the only decent dolls are Disney Store dolls.
Felt like déjà vu watching this! I could have sworn you did this video already and looked twice to see when it was uploaded. Now it clicked for me another popular creator made a video just like this! Yours is different of course! Loved your take on it and how you included the dolls to the Princess line up!
I used to play princesses when I did a character breakfast and also kids princess parties and my favorite ones to play where Rapunzel and Anna. I liked wearing those outfits the best too but The only thing I did not like about the Rapunzel costume was the heavy long-haired wig lol
Anyone else missing all those big twirly (actual weighted fabric) ball gowns all of a sudden 🥲 Man the stale plastic tube skirts nowadays are *not* cutting it
My favorite princess is Cinderella. She stayed kind and positive even when it was hard and escaped into her imagination, much like I did when I was young. Our upbringings were similar and I carried her spirit with me through all of my trauma. I still do to this day. I’m hoping to see better dolls from Mattel. The ones that we have are just not doing it for me.
I personally would love to see a lgbt princess in the future. Also for the quality of the dolls to go back up because those original Mattel dolls you showed were so gorgeous. I love Mulan, Aurora and Tiana the best. I wish they'd include them a little bit more on merch they seem to tend to focus on Ariel, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Belle the most from what I've seen.
Finally I got to watch this video! I've been wanting to watch it since yesterday, but things kept getting in the way xD Your videos are a real treat - always! Need to give them my full focus!
Rapunzel is my favorite princess. Also, I have some of the older Disney princess dolls that included Esmeralda and Tinker Bell. I am sad that Esmeralda and Kida don't get more merchandise and that the Disney fairies brand has ended.
I’m so happy that out of the millions of Disney princess dolls out there you showed the ones I had! Dazzling Princess Cinderella and Dream Time Snow White and Aurora!!! I have stories about both! My aunt gave me Dazzling Princess Cinderella and her feet have tiny bulbs that light up to make her feet glow. She plays music too! One day my mom vacuumed one of her COVETED glass slippers… and I tried to tell myself she just lost it at the ball. As an adult collector I had to get a new pair! And when I was a kid, my baby sister chewed up the arm of my Dream Time Snow White, so that night my mom took me to Walmart to get a replacement Aurora! I loved their nightgowns, ballgowns, soft bodies, and beautiful vanity accessories!❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic video! My favorite princesses are Snow White and Cinderella. I just recently bought my first Disney doll this year; Enchanted Princesses Snow White by Mattel in 2000. She's gorgeous! A lace collar, velvet puff sleeves, and gold ribbon. I love her so much.
0:10 I just screamed! I had this castle when I was very young! he disappeared without me ever knowing where he went! (all I have left are pictures of me playing and one of the golden candlesticks seen in the background on the video ) which always intrigued me is that it had the shape of the castle of the French sleeping beauty!!🥺
I personally do not have a singular favorite official disney princess, so I have recently put together a list of my favorites; Ariel🦭,Belle🥀,Pocahantes🍁, and Rapunzel🎇 .
Anyone annoyed with the Sleepying Princess line not being Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle, and the Dancing princesses be Ariel, Belle, and Cinderella? (Yes, I totally get that there was exclusivity around not having more POC within the line, but c’mon!!!). Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were asleep in their films and needed to be woken up! And Ariel gave up her voices for legs, so she should have been dancing! Someone at the branding department was not paying attention!
1:58 I loved that Disney Store in the mall with the enchanted trees! I'm still so mad that they got rid of it because people turned to online shopping cause of COVID. 4:21 At least the Snow White doll on the far right, her dress has a blue top and puffed sleeves, so she does have SOME of the right colors of Snow White's dress in the film.
This is my favorite video from your channel! I really love the Disney Princess brand, I enjoyed very much knowing the history of the franchise. Thanks for your great work 👑💖
Raya is definitely gonna stay in the line-up because she adds diversity into the group. Also, yes financially her movie didn't earn that much money, but that was because of COVID. Despite that, her movie was still able to top the box office for 3 weeks straight! It's also a hit on Disney plus! I am really hoping and manifesting that Asha will make the number even again, and become the 14th Disney Princess.
I have to be honest, I did not like the first half an hour of the Raya movie. I felt super confused by the plot. Then it hit me - it felt more like a Marvel movie, and then I absolutely loved it! I think she really challenged what the viewers assume a princess movie should be. She's awesome!
i honestly hated the message behind this movie. i love the representation for southeast asians but they definitely deserved a movie with a better message behind it. the emphasis on trust and forgiveness was executed terribly. I think the movie would’ve been much better had they not tried to redeem Namaari and practically erase all the wrongs she did throughout the film. Raya had no reason to trust or forgive Namaari for what she did. it’s a disney movie after all, so i understand that they weren’t going to leave us with a “realistic” ending. but the most unrealistic part of the movie wasn’t even the fantasy aspect… it was the fact that Sisu would encourage Raya to trust the person who literally destroyed her life. a better ending would’ve been Raya not trusting Sisu, but choosing to let go of the grudge she holds against her. it would’ve been nice to see Raya forgive herself, which is something i’m sure we’ve all struggled with. we all blame ourselves for things that weren’t our fault, but most of us aren’t dumb enough to trust someone after they betrayed us time and time again. it was lazy writing imo. the writers did a phenomenal job with their message of inter-generational trauma in Encanto… i wish they did the same with this movie. i know you weren’t talking about the movie or writing itself but i thought i’d reply anyways!

Today my sister and I were talking about how beautiful our childhood disney dolls were, you made my day
I’m so glad! Yeah the old Disney dolls are beautiful
I really loved it when the Disney princesses were in golden dresses. They were so beautiful 💛
I agree, so sad we never had a doll line of them.
@@CaseyCartman Disney actually sold a golden princess doll set of Belle, Jasmin, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. They’re extremely rare and there’s only pictures of them.
There is a eBay listing but it’s only the crowns…
OMG YES I HOPE THEY BRING IT BACK❤
To answer your question as to why they look like children:
I'm pretty sure back in the day toddler dolls were very popular!
The reason why many toy manufacturers began making dolls that looked like teenagers, was that they figured out that many little girls liked playing with their older sister's dolls, which often looked like teenagers, so these companies figured that if they made the dolls look older, little girls would start playing with them sooner, and end up playing with them longer!
we know ariel was a child but the dolls pre-Mattel looked like pre-pubescent children, not even teenagers.
@@crab2195 She just looks cute imo. I personally think she looked quite youthful in the animation as well, but that might just be me
@@myra0224 i see what you mean! but there’s a few dolls that look like an aged-down version of ariel. they have completely different body types which was probably the most “mature” looking part about ariel. one of the dolls looks almost exactly like Kelly, Barbies little sister so it is a bit misleading imo.
2. The Princesses of Heart are not supposed to have any "darkness" in their heart, so maybe lying to her dad and having ambition to go to another world was considered darkness? idk
It's just interesting to think how much branding may have influenced certain aspects of the Disney Princesses in those games. You also mentioned how early on, the Disney Princesses could never interact with each other, and even though Kingdom Hearts was billed as a big "Disney Crossover" I noticed how the characters from each of the individual worlds never really interact with each other.
I think you’re really going to love the new ILY Disney fashion dolls based on fans of Disney Princesses!
The Cinderella design is gorgeous! Beautiful.
A reasoning I’ve heard as to why Jane isn’t often incorporated is because of the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs who wrote Tarzan is very particular with how Tarzan is merchandised.
Raya is officially part of the line up fully, she was crowned recently a few months back!
I love the way he says Pocahontas 😊
Disney glittering princesses at 12:57 were my childhood! The cinderella was one of my very first dolls! I might have owned Belle as well, but she may have been from the similar era of my snow white (but she had red jewels on her dress)
Love these informative videos! The history of the franchise and progression of the branding are so fascinating since they reflect the culture of their time, especially that presented to children. And the MCU analogy is so fitting lol
Trying new things is fine but I hope the brand doesn't completely drop sparkly dresses because that's mostly what I love it for XD
I have such a deep connection with that movie ❤️
can u make a video listing all the disney princesses made by mattel ? and disney characters in general ? maybe separate videos for every disney film that had a barbie doll made for them
Omg I have all of the Disney Princesses magazines!!! I still have it till this day!! So nostalgic!
It’s not the nostalgia goggles, the 90’s princess dolls are the best of all the princess dolls and even the Disney store ones do not compare even with the extra articulation ❤❤❤
something about that 90’s packaging is so comforting too🥲
I loved those princess magazines. Still own a few of them from my childhood
Hello! greetings from Mexico
I understand your points, we are both the same, princesses are a good role to follow, not because they use glitter or are corny does it mean that they are bad teachings, each one has its purpose and it is not always to look for a man but for his freedom, but people insist on seeing the superficial!
I loved your video, I hope to see more videos about disney doll stories
The Disney Princess magazine is so nostalgic.
Dude great video!!!!!! I love The Disney Princess Dolls from the 90s .
I have a million hobbies, I'm fascinated by everything, and let's just leave the childhood out for another time. ;)
Great video, Joey. You really prepared for this one. And it was thought provoking.
I really love Ariel and Rapunzel they are some of my favs
I love jasmine in her purple outfit omg i need her
This whole video unlocked some memories. The early 2000 dolls, the magazines wow
I really enjoyed this video :)
17:00 there’s a Jasmine listing on eBay in the UK right now!
My favorite Disney princesses are Ariel, Cinderella and Snow White
My favorite era of the brand was the 2000s “the golden age” where the princesses were represented in their classic looks with a magical fairytale background
My favorite dolls are the ones made by Simba, they are the best 2000s Disney dolls in my opinion, they were so beautiful, movie accurate and good quality, amazing playsets, far better than anything Mattel was making at the time
Simba was inclusive, in 2006 they included Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan in the doll line while Mattel still focused on the 5 white princesses
90s Mattel dolls are beautiful but the classic white princesses weren’t very accurate to the movies, while Jasmine and the other heroines of the Disney Renaissance were very well made and accurate
The Hasbro dolls are the worst, they are ugly, that disproportioned cartoonish look wasn’t good for the Princesses, the clothes were insanely cheap and NOT movie accurate at all!
The new Mattel dolls for 2023 have very good face molds, yes they are equally cheap with molded on tops but i think that these are the dolls of the transitory fase, I hope that in the next years they will make them with removable clothes
The Disney Store dolls are good, in general they are the best ones, but their design wasn’t great sometimes
I hope that this year they will upgrade the classic dolls making them movie accurate
PS
Just came to mind that by own rules of Disney then Kida (Atlantis) should be in the line by being born royal and Megara by being married into royalty.
What the fuck are you talking about?….. Disney Heroes were sold on Disney Stores…… I got them all except the Maleficent Dragon….
Esmerald's my number one. I wish they gave her the respect she deserves still!!
Yes! She's so underrated
My favorite Disney Princess is Belle,my 2nd favorite princess is Cinderella. My 3rd favorite princess is Mulan. I love all of them.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the Princesses are not actually princesses but a elite group of actresses who stared in incredibly successful movies.
So basically like Barbie in her iconic movies.
That’s actually hysterical and I 100% agree
Interesting topic, much appreciate all the research you did for this! Keep it up!
This video is so relevant considering the new ILY forever dolls that are inspired by the Disney princesses!
Felt like déjà vu watching this! I could have sworn you did this video already and looked twice to see when it was uploaded. Now it clicked for me another popular creator made a video just like this! Yours is different of course! Loved your take on it and how you included the dolls to the Princess line up!
I love the Disney Princeses they're great characters!
I’m not a fan of painted on tops, but I’m a colourholic, as long as you release something of different colour, I can’t help myself
my favorite princess is ariel. she has always been my favorite and i had a lot of ariel dolls :)
Exactly! They are AAMAZING ROLL MODELS ❤
I used to play princesses when I did a character breakfast and also kids princess parties and my favorite ones to play where Rapunzel and Anna. I liked wearing those outfits the best too but The only thing I did not like about the Rapunzel costume was the heavy long-haired wig lol
Anyone else missing all those big twirly (actual weighted fabric) ball gowns all of a sudden 🥲
Man the stale plastic tube skirts nowadays are *not* cutting it
I LOVE the princesses (and Elsa and Anna) and I think they’re great role models, too.
Ariel and Jasmine are my favorites
14:00 OKAY BUUUUUT! The bottom middle doll of ESMERALDA IS SOOOOO FREAKING CUUUTE!!! I ACTUALLY NEED IT!! LIKE RIGHT NOW!?!?!😩😩😩💕💕
I personally would love to see a lgbt princess in the future.
I used to have Belle from the Disney Princess Perfume doll and the Snow White storybook doll MANY years ago! Nostalgia hits back, FINALLY!
Finally I got to watch this video! I've been wanting to watch it since yesterday, but things kept getting in the way xD Your videos are a real treat - always! Need to give them my full focus!
All the Princesses are my favorite , but Pocahontas and Merida and Rapunzel and Belle and princess and the Frog are my favorite
What a great deep dive into the Disney princess line! Will you be covering the Elvira Mistress of the Dark Monster High Doll?
Rapunzel is my favorite princess. Also, I have some of the older Disney princess dolls that included Esmeralda and Tinker Bell. I am sad that Esmeralda and Kida don't get more merchandise and that the Disney fairies brand has ended.
15:46 they would always be THE Disney’s princess.
I guess also Tiana. 2D animated films will always be superior.
I love your videos! And I think you inspire people that your never too old for dolls.
As a kid I was obsessed with Pocohantas and Ariel. They both represented adventure, curiosity and exploration.
This video was amazing!! Ariel is my favourite and I CANNOT wait for may for the live action!! Ive watched the trailer so many times
My favorite Disney Princess is Anna from Frozen. I love how she is kinda awkward at moments but is so excited about most things.
Lol i love the way you say evaluation and thats a compliment im not making fun of your acsent
Such an eye opening video. I love it.
Our daughter Elizabeth loves Tangled and Princess and the Frog
0:10 I just screamed! I had this castle when I was very young! he disappeared without me ever knowing where he went! (all I have left are pictures of me playing and one of the golden candlesticks seen in the background on the video ) which always intrigued me is that it had the shape of the castle of the French sleeping beauty!!🥺
I personally do not have a singular favorite official disney princess, so I have recently put together a list of my favorites; Ariel🦭,Belle🥀,Pocahantes🍁, and Rapunzel🎇 .
I remember the Disney princess magazine 😊
Anyone annoyed with the Sleepying Princess line not being Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle, and the Dancing princesses be Ariel, Belle, and Cinderella? (Yes, I totally get that there was exclusivity around not having more POC within the line, but c’mon!!!). Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were asleep in their films and needed to be woken up! And Ariel gave up her voices for legs, so she should have been dancing! Someone at the branding department was not paying attention!
The Mattel dolls were really special
I had the Jasmine Dancing Princess
90s Pocahontas face mold is probably, in my opinion, the prettiest and closest to the animated version of the Princess. I love it! 😃
my moms boyfriend bought me and my sister a pack of all the Disney princess dolls when I was younger i remember being SO happy ❤ my favorite is Aurora
My Favorites are: Belle, Ariel, Rapunzel & Anna
Although I do love the more adventurous poses… YOU CAN BE GLITTERY AND PIBK AND SUPER FEMININE AND BE BADASS!! 👏👏
I used to be obsessed with the Ariel and tinker bell dolls personally growing up
aww you signed off with see you real soon, like they do on the cruises, I loved that
This is my favorite video from your channel! I really love the Disney Princess brand, I enjoyed very much knowing the history of the franchise. Thanks for your great work 👑💖
I love how much you love dolls. It literally brings me so much joy.
