- Learn a powerful and easy Traditional Korean Farming Practice for converting your abundant weeds into a source of nitrogen for the rest of your garden plants that you actually want to encourage to grow.
Hawaii Farmers Union, West Maui (Mauna Kahalawai) Chapter President, Alika Atay speaks about the science behind and demonstrates how to convert weeds into a fermented plant juice (FPJ). This natural form of nitrogen can then be applied to your new growth plants to encourage them to be healthy.
This is one simple example of natural farming techniques that convert natural ingredients into fertilizer and mineral sources your garden and farm plants can use to flourish. An abundance of techniques are available for the whole growth cycle of plants in a variety of methods via soil (Indigenous Micro-Organisms), root, and leaf applications, environments and inoculations.
I've been doing this for a year now. it works. I used every kind of plant that grew around Long Beach California. it made my marijuana grow much larger, much faster.
kingzone104 thinking about trying this out on my cannabis plants. I have a lot of star thistle weeds in my areas in nor cal. Do you think it's ok to use those?
It is actually working?
@@alohaservedaily77 I think you could essentially extract from any plant. Probably just avoiding oily or poisonous plants. Anything green will likely have nitrogen and grow formulations and any fruits, berries, bananas will be better for bloom formulas. I’m guessing local area and like he’s saying weeds growing in the area will probably have preferred enzymes and whatnot.
It is well documented that in any region proheminent herbs and weeds have simbyotic and protocoperation relantionships with local especies of fungus that produce natural antibiotics and pro-biotic substances that are adapted for that enviroment, what this man is doing basically is making this fungus proliferate in the fermenting liquid consequently producing these antibiotics and putting it on the plants he wants to grow, absolute genius.
You write good English. Why not speak it on your video's? Why no comment section?
First time someone explained the difference between dry sugar and molasses. Glad I watched this. Thank you for the video.
This guy is a straight up baller. Love the wisdom he presents..going to hawaii soon hope I run into this man
Ian Greenhalgh 100% agree. hope you had an awesome time. Hawaii is one of my dream destinations!
Aloha. Hope you found him
He is a straight up guy giving great information. I've used his recipe for about 5 years and boy does it work.
Six years later everyone is jumping on the FPJ, IMO, LAB's train! 💚🌱
Lol the revolution took a minute 🤣👍
The more the merrier
This man seems very wise and intelligent😊
@Daniel Robledo ooooh, somebody is jealous.grow up you miserable creature and stop acting like a little girl who wants attention.wise up and try to become remotely like Alika Atay.
Aloha ..I have been growing over 100,000 fruit trees and 20,000 coconut trees here in the past 50 years and the real insights for making inoculants easy and simple and personal is so important i really like making this as Alika teaches,...simple and direct and available...without the ferments the dirt is dead and not yet real soil.
I can listen to him speak for hours. Great wisdom, tfs.
Thank you Alika Atay for sharing you knowledge. :)
This guy seems cool as hell. I like his teaching style 🤙
Thank you for your time interesting stuff
Very interesting - I will try this. I usually just ferment my weeds in water, with added sea water for nutrients.
DTG! What affect does sea water have on the soil? What happens to the salt? Is there a build up of salt in the ground over time?
and remember...
I just made my first FPJ today watching your video with purslane. Thank you. I’m just a home gardener loving my plants.
Want more videos from this man, please!
Real teacher calm and relax
Purslane is also considered a wild edible and is highly nutritious for people to eat
I just got learned that their is a beautiful method for making our own fertilizer. thank you and wishes
Very important information, thanks for the video. I appreciate the explanation about how the chemical processes work, supporting the method. Enjoyed this and will use this free plant food recipe for my garden.
Good people NOW~~thank you blessings
Wicked explanation !!
Love ❤️ what you are all about and what you are doing. I always have a hard time doing these processes when it comes to the dilution factor. You seem to guesstimate the amounts of ingredients but are very specific on the liquid dilution at the end of the process.
I personally think 20cc or about 1/2 oz to 5 gallons of water is a very weak final product. I’m curious how you determined that dilution factor.
Now with everyone using microscopes I’d love to see what you extract out of the process as well as the microbe density in the diluted extract.
It appears that EM is the best approach to restoring our agriculture and landscapes
We need more people like you actively working to end synthetic fertilizers and reduced crop quality
Very wise man.
Thank you for sharing this information
Good soil to good people agree with ya brother. Lets create a sustainable furture!!
Really appreciate this video, it's well explained
I love your knowledge thank you so much for sharing love from n Ireland 🤝
I really like the way you explained and showed this. Please do more videos on your natural farming techniques and imputs. I am from Australia but have subscribed hoping to see more like this :)
Dig it! From South Africa,Cape Town.I only use my own fermenter in garden 🪴
Much thanks for this lesson.
I believe you can use sugar. But that can be a significant cost input depending on your garden or farm size. Alika appreciates being able to use renewable resources from one's own garden. Particularly note he is using what is considered a weed and grabbing the aspect of the plant that really likes the garden environment, although it's not ideal for his specific garden production. By using this weed as the source of the sugar, he's also capturing its vital essence (which contains property/s that likes his environment) and seeking to share that vitality with the other plants/crops he uses. So the FPJ does double duty.
Sugar is still less expensive than chemical fertileser by a long shot.
This is incorrect, he uses sugar
whatever kind of farming it is, I like it and I'm going to use this.
It's a Korean Natural Farming Technique
The Korean JADAM method does not use sugar, as it acidifies the mix. Instead, sea salt and leaf mould are added. Other than that, similar.
@@davidthegood it does use sugars in ferment for fpj
great info! thank you so much for sharing this
Love the video👍👌
Simple but genius at same time, 👍
Wow really good video thanks
bring more of this guy!
Great video, very well presented, thank you so much.
Good info, mahalo!
good stuff! well explained, simplified and a great delivery! mahalo for your time!
@Daniel Robledo hey jealous girl, stop embarrassing yourself.
@Daniel Robledo good.now crawl back into your cave and avoid any human conversation until you behave like a man, little sissy.
@Daniel Robledo stop embarrassing yourself.you act like you're having your period.
@Daniel Robledo hush now.go ride the pony cindefella.
@Daniel Robledo girl shut it,ride the pony.do it
Well said
I have no idea what the weeds were that I used, but they were among the best wild growers in the sandy soil in my yard here in Central Florida. Now I just have to wait...
You must also source natural brown sugar, a lot made from GMO sugar beets which are chemically extracted
Thank You .
Can you drink the fermented juice, for health benefits. Great video. Thank you
thinking man...thanks for sharing.
good wisdom brother
I clicked on this video cause my boy was telling me about fpj and just this guy's look and vibe I can dig it. Was raised by older people and there's a look of life I can listen too but can't listen to someone who doesn't only play the part but also looks like he plays the part. And this older guy had that experienced look and this video hit it try to start some fpj and lacto
Digging this FPJ vid, it's pretty good!
Amazing!
Ah Unkle.Thank you tons!!
good
👍Thanks 🤙
Pretty cool For fully fermented within 7 days thats good enough.
Thanks man ...
What a nice fella ...14 down thumbs need a punch in the mouth ...hahaha.. wait I'm not spos to do that anymore
Why don’t we all know this??? I’m hoping to get out of fiberglass wrk and start farming. I just want to know more before I go big. I’m starting with an area no bigger than my truck to see how things work…
Mix some Purslane, Comfrey, Moringa and banana flower😊
Not recomended to mix plants while making fpj, but you could mix the three finished fpj's😊
Alika, can you use aloe. I have some big plants and very little purslane which I discovered in my yard. So I'm trying to nurse it tro adulthood.
What kind of vinegar do you mix with the eggs shells? and no sugar? Thank you. Patti Domingo
Well Said!
Like sweet sauerkraut for your plants.
you can use a kitchen waste in a same way. brown sugar, kitchen waste, water, some effective microorganisms EM1. By using em1, progress of fermentation will be very fast and more benefit.
sweet. I just tried this method in the video but didnt fully turn to liquid because i used too big of a jar i think for the amount of plant material and sugar. But id like to try it the way your describing since i already have em1. How many parts of Sugar/plant/water/em1 is good?
i'll give recipe in litres and grams, as more usual for me. for 10 lt water 100 grams some sweet (brown sugar is more benefit), 100 ml. em 1, weeds value is about not less than 1/3 of value of canister or jar, could be more. i use it as a protection and nutrition for my plants. some people makes furtiliser without em1 but it causes of deep bad smell, so em 1 is the decision.
Thanks! I appreciate it! I believe the Em-1 would help keep things cleaner too, in the event bad microbes are introduced
Do you spray on the leaves and plants as well as watering the plants?
Do the same with your food. Fermented foods build healthy ppl not just plants.
Do you gather a bunch of different kinds of plants or do you only use one kind at a time?
Do you use this solution every day when watering?
try that with green corn stalks they are loaded with good stuff
nice
Amazing! At what rate would you mix this for a foliar spray. Guessing maybe 1 to 10 parts water?
Nice video brahtha
Thank you for this very informative video. Did you say you dilute the FPJ 20 cc's to a five gallon bucket of water? I want to be sure I heard that right. Thank you.
You are correct. Ratio of 1:1000
Awesome thanks a million. I'm about to attempt making fermented broccoli sprout extract 😸
Lets collaborate with the nature!!!
Aloha Alika!
Dude!! I wish you were my neighbor. Could I use a really large "Hemp" plant that only made it to about the 6th week of flowering outdoors???
I have a stripped down and frozen and a giant turkey bag in my deep freezer I was going to make other things out of it but I think this would be the best!
Let me know what you think.
Thank you.
Did you try it out? How'd that work out?
@@g-man9684 the best FPJ I've ever...
@@johnmurner2418 awesome brother. Thanks for the response🙏
some time i don't know what is weeds growing in my land but pretty sure that weed is very successful growing and fill all my farm land is wise if i use that unknown weed as fpj?
is regular yellow sugar work like brown sugar?
Yes brudda 🙏🏽😌❣️
Would you be kind to tell us how to preserve it please?
I am an agronomic soil scientist. A word of caution about aqueous vegetative extracts "compost tea". First: the finish extract contains very little, if any, nutrient value in lab analysis. When compared to groups receiving an equal amount of water on the same schedule the two groups are indistinguishable. Secondly: these malto-lactic fermented solutions can be dangerous. E. coli, salmonella and even cholera have been incubated this way with deadly consequences in Korea and Taiwan. Compost does not have these issues and is generally recognized as safe and effective.

I just fed my tomatoes Fpj. I used 1lb of brown sugar with 1 lb. Of Cantaloupe flesh.
can i use virgina creeper
how much plant material weight to amount of sugar?
Thank you!
Can I use banana leaves instead of the flowers?
I am no current user but could cannabis be made into alcohol with plant fermentation
This is not Traditional Hawaiian Farming; this is Korean Natural Farming.
Please make the correction.
I second that
Korean Natural Farming does not add sugar, at least according to the JADAM book. Instead, it's sea salt/sea water in water, with leaf mold.
David The Good Korean farming adds molasses or brown sugar.
ya, so?, could be chinese, for all I care, still a NATURAL FARMING
@@davidthegood - jadam is a branch of KNF, developed to make basic knf techniques more available to farmers and gardeners. Just because jadam doesn't use a sugar source doesn't mean sugar isn't a major component of conventional knf
I love the ideas but brown sugar is expensive to buy so how is it cheap? Is there a way to get brown sugar super cheap?
You can use cane sugar. To do a batch that will last you for a very long time and you can share it with your friends will cost you about $4.00
What happens if i use molasses for this proces?...
Will this reproduce patogens as well?
Can you use aloe vera or banana leaves & stems for fpj?
could i use wild grass if i pick it during winter. i was thinking that it must be storing lots of nitrogen so it stays green in freezing temps
Another video I was watching used a wild grass that grew in Hawaii. I want to say it had a weird name like Raccoon grass or something like that. He said everyone hates this stuff because it grows everywhere and we love it to make FPJ.
So why raw brown sugar over white granular?
this fpj can be drink?
Could I add roots to the fpj mix?
The only thing that grows really well around here is poison oak, which I am highly allergic too - but can it be used for this application? Would the oil survive the process?
Risky move spreading all that poison oak around
Kept in the shade or in the sun ? Hot or cool ?
would honey work? I know it reverse ossmosis mushrooms tissue
Hi here thank you very much for sharing your experience sir I was wondering if I could use raw pure cane sugar or does it have to be brown sugar?
Jose Muñoz pure cane sugar is better more nutrition dense
devdas Devdas Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it, I had a feeling it was better more granulated denser 🙏
Jose Muñoz sure no problems it will work faster. You can also do similar with brown rice so brown rice sugar and water solution in a sealed plastic bottle it will ferment and have useful enzyme bacteria etc. That can be used for cleaning drinking etc
Can I make it with white sugar instead of brown?
No. You can use cane sugar. To do a batch that will last you for a very long time and you can share it with your friends will cost you about $4.00.
How much per gallon to use
Do u think i ca use fig plants
Ka pai e hoa.
