Peter, loved the comment about bluetooth speakers being a generational thing. Clearly you have not lived with one. Living in a household with 3 generations of adults, I've discovered their portability is actually quite nice thanks to my daughter. What I have also discovered is noise canceling ear pods under my hearing protectors. Amazing! Can't even hear the router.
After your work today, you can clear the windshield and see , when it is not clear outside. The instillation could also be used on some kit cars. Thanks for the lesson Peter. Also, you will likely not see this till tomorrow , the correct day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! All the best, Hal
My wiper motors, 3 of them, are at the top of the windows. Keeps them out of the way, and I put roller shades on all 3 forward windows on the inside. I had to modify the roller mechanism by gluing the catch pawl so it always had spring tension on the cloth. Then drilled and tapped for a #4-40 ss screw bolt to lock the spring catch so it can be wound up and installed in the mahogany brackets for the roller shades metal bracket I made. As in wind up the spring, tighten the little screw and install it on the window. Then loosen the set screw and it will spring tension the cloth rolled on the roller shade. The cloth end of the shade has a 5/8 poplar dowel slide into a loop of the cloth, and a brass hook screwed in with a matching eye hook to hold it closed. When the windows are covered with the cloth, it really helps keep the sun out of the cabin, so it is cooler, offers privacy and less UV light to ruin the finish. I used white cloth to keep the inside cabin lighted up better. This works very well for sloped windows. The roller shade also covers the window motors.
The bumps along the road.. actually it's nice to see that mistakes happened even if it's a pain in the behind.. Perhaps a double beer 🍻 when to he goal is reached.
Thanks for the video, That kind of thing often happens to me too. You spend ages sorting it all out to find you have put them on wrong so you have to pull it off & do it again. A beer often helps calm the nerves too.
Love it, love it - "..this entire window will be replaced sometime in the not to....(hrm)...in the distant future.." The ambitions, dreams and hope suddenly faced reality. Watches all Your posts since A: It's very interesting. and B: You are a very nice, intelligent and filled with appreciation of life making the most of it.
Peter, I sympathize with your 'zipping' through 'the loving memory of my Pup Geordie' every week, and know, deep down, he's still there with you, Whuffing and Farting in his sleep. My 'Hoover' was 17 when he left me, and I still reach down from my bed every morning for my 'Welcome Back' licks... and nothing...
Watching this vid after the behind the scenes vid it s clear that you are working hard to achieve your goals. You have reason to be proud of your boat. I think a smal mahogany box to cover the white housings of the motors is in order. They are going to stick out like a sore thumb after you finish the top of the dashboard.
Thanks for being honest about your work Peter, in that you're not ashamed to show us your mistakes. That willingness to be yourself on camera makes you all the more credible, sorry can't articulate it much better. As we say in Australia, good on yer mate! Thanks again Peter, I enjoy every one of your videos and their content. Great job
Hi Peter, recently got back into watching your channel after a break. A fellow trad Irish and English music lover here. I’ve recently discovered Stan Rogers from your side of the Atlantic. Northwest Passage and Mary Ellen Carter being my current favourites. Clearly your a man of great musical taste. Loving your work as always. Take care.
In a million years, I would’ve never thought how much goes into a windshield wiper. And what goes into a windshield wiper is crystal clear to me now. You learn something new everyday. Way to go Peter. Another great video!
Clearly, this has to be the Sweetest episode yet! When you got out those wipers, you had me then and there! As an old truck driver and boater, this brought out many wonderful memories of looking out an old windshield, with the wipers dancing in the water. Pure Magic!! Thanx for that! Awesome! Awesome! CHEERS!
Haha, great video. I am the same. Most of the time working in my decent clothes too. And today it was not working but managed to do some light damage. We just bought a yr 2000 35 ft express cruiser and today we moved her to her new marina closer to our home. To be able to get underway I needed to open the seacocks for cooling water for the engines. They are located in front of the Yanmars with v-drives and you have to get down into the engine compartment, stand sideways between the engines and lower your upper body also in between to reach down with a arm and use some force to turn them to the open position. At that moment your back and belly do have contact with both engines. and those engines are a bit dirty so my bright light orange t-shirt suffered some damage I am afraid. A dirty patch on the front and the back from touching the engines. I will have to try to think of some mechanical system to make this task more easy. There are also electrical motor driven seacocks but those are pretty expensive. have to rig something up myself. I love your boat. I would never ever want a wooden boat myself. Just from the maintainance point of view. But I love the looks of wooden boats. So i am glad that there are people like you that do take the effort to keep them nice and shiny.
Clearly, this time of year a clear day is rare. I've replace windshields like that before. Really tricky. The hard part was the 9 inch bronze screws need to hold it all together. Late 1930's 50 foot Elco.
I love to watch you work through each project. Even when it doesn’t go as planned. You mentally slap your forehead, take it apart and start over. I have been there and done that more than once. Clearly, it is just the way things go sometimes. Keep up the good work, and Cheers!
I've done enough home projects to have seen that the first test of the wipers would see the direction, parking, sweep, etc. all sideways. But as others here have noted, all of us have made such mistakes. To be clear, I took no pleasure in seeing it go so. Also, my favorite beer of the week? When you dumped one overboard!
Hi Peter. I've been wondering about a windscreen wiper for my windscreen for a few decades.. money no object ... 🐱 ... Your going to hate me for this, just because of the possible confusion.. I'm not sure how it would affect overall visibility.. have you thought of mounting the motor to one side of centre so the wiper parks flat and sweeps all the way to the other side.. it might need a slight bend or crank on the arm... Oh what fun... Have you seen a glass treatment that helps rain and dirt off the glass? Been using it for 20 years.. Works really well on cars at speed... Audio... I found a gaming seat in a skip .. the amplifier has stereo and a separate amplifier for the base speaker... 😻 ... Loud! ... with an assortment of inputs and outputs including Bluetooth, USB, coax and 3.5mm in and out.. ... the slight downside a 9volt input which should be 2amp.. works ok with a mains adapter 9v 1amp .. but would like it to be 12volt .. the variable current of the amp and the solar battery charging voltage up to about 14.7 volts, there's also equalising voltage .. stops the idea of resistors or diodes ... This raises questions of stabilised 12 volts through the boat.. then thoughts occur of 9 volt and 3 volt supply and then USB... Beer time ... Regards Mark and Bella 🐈 ...
I've been drinking Four Winds sour beer for years. Excellent beer brewed in Delta on River Road. A much better choice then the Sleemans you were drinking earlier even though the Sleemans is a much clearer beer.
Sour beer? Um.... No. Bitter? Yes. Sharp? (for lack of a better term) Yes. Even a single notch into the "sweet" category? Yes. High Gravity? Yes... moderately. That said, those new wipers will clear your windshield nicely.
Hi Peter. Love your work and the top vs bottom wiper mount discussion. Bottom mount is the way planes and car are done. But it may be because it’s easier to mount at the base of the windows. Anyhow you got me thinking about something I wouldn’t have. Cheers.
Thanks for the clear view out the windshield! Appreciate your processs for design and build/install. Nothing is as easy as the instructions say. I appreciate yu are just like many of us, never give up, if it doesn't work pick another path and try it again. You sir are an inspiration thanks for all your work, and sometimes rework. Cheers.
Glad you had a family visit in Nova Scotia. My son, partner and baby are visiting her relatives in NS in the Annapolis Valley area as I type this. You will be happy to know that the monsoons we've been having are predicted to disappear so it will be more pleasant for you boat work wise. I am retired and I spend too much time on Windy looking at expected weather for the next ten days out. My son and family are staying close to Hantsport so I check to see if they will get hit with any snow. Just think, all those boaters in Florida don't realize what a critical piece of equipment windshield wipers are on a boat.
I didn't see a clear difference between top and bottom mount, but it's your boat. Now when you build out the dash are you going to build some ornate mahogany boxes to hide those motors? I think you should.
Nice job Peter! I want to ask though why not park them horizontally at the bottom? You could do that by putting the pivot a distance equal to the height from one side so as to still get your 100 degrees sweep. This would give you greater coverage actually, as it would fit better with the angled sides (I think).
Peter, I feel like the wipers being on top or bottom is a fords or chevys argument lol I didn't see much difference. Good install though, Gordie looks a lil better every episode :)
Good video! Will clearly refer to this again soon when it is my turn for wipers.
"Someone told me long ago

Thanks Peter, as a High School Ag Teacher, I turn to Travels With Geordie for needed respite during the day.

it’s clear that your subs clearly impressed by your videos
Tenacity and the obsession to get it right! Always a man after my own heart! Well done, mate!
Stay healthy and we'll see you next week.
It is clear to me that you have clearly enjoyed your wiper install, well done.
It's clear that beer is one of your favourite tipples. Clearly it's just reward after all your hard work, cheers!
Watching you figure out those wipers clearly gave me a headache but I love your show so I stuck with it. 😎
It is now clear to all of us that a little beer of the week always makes the project go easier and makes Peter a happy man!!!
Winters here , idle time awaits but keeping busy and active with work prevents us from hearing the paramedics say..”CLEAR”!!….
It is clear that you installed the wipers just in time! For the rain has come again to Vancouver Island and western Washington State. Cheers!
New wipers are clearly a good investment
Just to be clear! I really enjoy your little boat projects. Cheers.
After your work today, you can clear the windshield and see , when it is not clear outside. The instillation could also be used on some kit cars. Thanks for the lesson Peter. Also, you will likely not see this till tomorrow , the correct day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! All the best, Hal
I have to admit I had to look up meaning of “a dog’s breakfast” 😂
I liked how you were honest and clear with showing the "mistake" (though I'm not sure it's a mistake if it's part of the learning process)
My wiper motors, 3 of them, are at the top of the windows. Keeps them out of the way, and I put roller shades on all 3 forward windows on the inside. These videos are clearly something I look forward to every weekend, Thanks.
Clearly in the top five.
It is clear that I have learned a lot of information from your videos.
thanks for posting and sharing. Very nice to see the wipers installed and working.
18:00 minutes is the greatest!!! Good on you, Peter! Fun video!
You are clearly an inspiration to many of us. Cheers to you Peter! 🍺
Good job Peter and congrats on the success on your quest of keeping your windshield transparent and streak free.
Thanks for the video, That kind of thing often happens to me too. You spend ages sorting it all out to find you have put them on wrong so you have to pull it off & do it again. A beer often helps calm the nerves too.
It’s clear to me you handle your emotions better than I do when difficulties crop up when working on a project. Cheers to you.
Well I can clearly see the wiper installation did a nice job to clear your windscreens. Clearly outstanding in the rain!
It seems a pretty straight forward job, but compliments for making it work.
Love it, love it - "..this entire window will be replaced sometime in the not to....(hrm)...in the distant future.." The ambitions, dreams and hope suddenly faced reality.

You clearly installed those wipers properly. Nice job.
Oh Peter, that was so disappointing - I was expecting you to fit one of those ‘motorised spinny clear view windows’.😉👍
As always I enjoyed your video today, clearly you're done it again. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for being honest about your work Peter, in that you're not ashamed to show us your mistakes. Let’s be clear, if you’ve never made a mistake you probably have never made anything ☝️thanks Peter , that beer looked delicious 🍻
So true - making mistakes is learning by doing.
Nice Einstein quote.
I have observed that a clear beer is one to fear. Great video! Cheers!

That was clearly an outstanding episode! I'll go back to my corner now.
clearly better than landrover wipers but i can see the inspiration ;0)
Love this video and love the behind the scenes - we all appreciate your hard work and your professional approach - Kind Regards Australia
I'm so glad it's not just me that has these issues! One learns so much more when it's done at least 3 times.
Clearly, this has to be the Sweetest episode yet!

Thanx for that!
Awesome! Awesome!
CHEERS!
It’s clear you enjoy your beer..
"I can see clearly now, the rain has vanished."
Clearly a mad genius 🤣
It was clear the bottom mount did what you thought it would
Clearly, I get a lot of enjoy, ent and knowledge watching you over the years. It seems so hard, yet you figure out a pathway and get started!
You're clearly a genius !
Your commitment to your boat and sharing experiences and knowledge with us is clear. I do enjoy and learn from each episode.
Thanks!!
Clearing the path for clean sailing!

A really clear explaination of setting up the wipers, good job!
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone… 🎼 🎶 🎵 Or at least wiped away.
I can clearly see you and lady Zepper throe the window and I hope your wearing something under those apron
Mate, The only issue was planning. . . . .
It was clearly a three beer job.
🖖😎👍🍻

Wipers are a great addition but try some Aquapel treatment on the glass....you'll be amazed.

It's clear you're doing a great job.
I would want an intermittent switch.
Clearly boating is not meant to be rocket science ,that is until I listened to your lecture on advanced quantum mechanics of wiper blade installation!
I'm very proud of you Peter good job hopefully that new Galley is in the near future & Cheers my friend!!! Yes Clearly I jest
Love your understanding of a subject
Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Now you just need to spray them with some semi-gloss brown paint. Make 'em blend in!...
Hi Peter. Love your work and the top vs bottom wiper mount discussion. Bottom mount is the way planes and car are done. But it may be because it’s easier to mount at the base of the windows. Anyhow you got me thinking about something I wouldn’t have. Cheers.
Yes, a most interesting vid. I like the style in these videos.
I can see clearly now "the rain has been wiped" great install and upgrade, love the content keep up the great work!
Tricky install. Well done!

He remarked Ongaro was liked
Or perhaps just overhyped.
But he sang sincerely
I can see clearly
Now that the rain is wiped.

Success, great job.
Nice upgrade. Well done
At first I thought that bottle contained mineral spirits. Should have guessed the spirits were the friendlier type.
Clearing the windshields with uper mounted wipers in marine applications must have some bennefit.

I think I'd have tried to arrange them so they parked to the side or the bottom leaving the screen clear when not needed.
Peter, I feel like the wipers being on top or bottom is a fords or chevys argument lol I didn't see much difference. Good install though, Gordie looks a lil better every episode :)
nah more a detroit or cummins arguement!
Nice arms and blades compared to the crappy Sea Dog brand that was available back in the day.
Spot on💧
It was clear as mud, but it covered the ground.
Cream of wheat consistency. Your welcome🤣
